I go through waves of alternately collecting and divesting. This is definitely a divesting year. If you have old jewelry, broken bits of gold or silver, or inherited a coin collection that just isn't your jam, visit with the very knowledgeable and congenial Kevin, the new owner of Pacific Gold and Silver.
TRUST ME, you only want to deal with Pacific Gold and Silver. Other businesses were either dismissive or used the tired line, "get estimates and we'll beat any price." Uh, no....they will not...they will devalue your items or cherry pick through them.
We found Kevin to be honest, fair, and completely transparent (he has current precious metal prices, streaming on huge screens)
When all was said and done, we felt valued as customers and will be by again when we unearth more "treasures." Kevin is awesome.
We had a small collection of commemorative coins that we were looking to sell, including US mint silver proof sets, silver coins, silver and gold commemorative coins from Australia, and a couple of small miscellaneous gold pieces. I checked online to get an idea of the market value of each of these items beforehand so I knew whether we were getting a fair offer or not. Kevin had a look at the items we had and quickly gave a very fair offer for each piece, with no pressure to sell all or any of them. He explained how he got to that offer and was very transparent about the whole process. The total offer that we got was almost exactly what I had figured we could get in a private party sale (on average), so it was a pretty easy decision to sell the whole lot and forego the process to sell everything separately, by ourselves.
I was impressed by Kevin's honesty and how straightforward and quick the whole process was. He could have easily given us a low offer, hoping we'd take it not knowing what we had. I suspect that is not uncommon in this business, but we were pleasantly surprised. One of the most obscure items we had was a small vial of gold leaf pieces, and we were not sure of the purity of these items or whether they had any value at all. Kevin suggested that he could have them X-rayed to assess the metallic content and purity, and he'd let us know what they found in a couple of days and give us an offer -- again with no pressure on us. It turned out that the pieces were close to 24k gold, and he gave us an offer based on this. He could have easily claimed that this was worthless low-purity gold, but he didn't.
I seldom write reviews, but I wanted to give credit where it is due. I appreciated the integrity and honesty at this business, and the low-pressure approach. I would absolutely go to Pacific Gold and Silver if I ever was looking to sell coins, gold or silver again.
Got ripped off, should have seen that coming. He gave me $160ish for a ring that an online gold buyer quoted me at $223. The silver was about a $20 difference than the online buyer. You'd think you'd want to have prices close to your competitors. I get not being the exact amount as an online buyer since online buyers have less overhead, I was expecting a smaller quote but not that much smaller. I thought it'd be maybe $40 difference. Guess I'll sell online for now on unless I need to sell quickly. The guy was nice, the place is professional and their selling prices are good. They could bring in more people by offering buying prices closer to competitors. Maybe it's because it was jewelry I sold and not coins
Edit: Forgot to mention he also rounds down the weight, you don't even get the full price. He took over a quarter gram off the weight of the ring so that's almost $20 right there which explains some of the price difference. I'd like to see an updated reply explaining why he does this.
This place is hands down the number one best place in all of Vancouver Washington to buy sell and or trade any of your gold silver coins and memorabilia Kevin and Ian are very friendly and very knowledgeable if I could only write them a one out of 10 and give them a $25 for best customer service
First off, Kevin is the best! I come in wanting to buy some gold and silver as an investment for the future. I wasn't sure what I really wanted, but Kevin knew exactly what questions to ask me.
He was totally transparent about what he would buy as good deals and pointed out the things that weren't good deals, and some fun items to have as a collectable. Super informative and humble enough to admit when he didn't have all the information.
After buying my coins and making it home, some of the numbers didn't add up on my receipt. I gave them a call and everything got sorted out instantly. Kevin was so nice with a "Merry Christmas" to end the call.
This was an incredibly pleasant interaction and so much better than any experience I had with other main brand coin shops.

Me and my wife are not very knowledgeable in this kind of field and he told us what he knew and what he didn't know and didn't jerk us around, gave us honest answers and an honest offer. Ian and Kevin, the new owners of Pacific Gold And Silver are awesome to deal with. Whether you’re buying or selling their prices are fair and transparent. I feel comfortable and safe with this location (in the old part of Vancouver). Contrast that with the Portland precious metals experience (nothing against those gentlemen, as they are great to deal with as well) where you are in a creepy part of Portland on SE Powell blvd. and homeless people are everywhere. This makes a difference when you are a woman. Main Street in the old part of Vancouver feels very safe. I’ve always had excellent experiences with Kevin and Ian at Pacific Gold And Silver. They are very fair and honest and this is my number one coin shop now.
Kevin was really great to work with. I don’t know if it’s always been this way but I’ve noticed that a lot of these places that buy and sell precious metals have a terrible phone presence. I’ll call a place and often end up feeling like I am a nuisance or otherwise bothering them for calling to ask them a question. Kevin was friendly, professional, and informative. It was a super smooth transaction and I plan to work with them again! Also, if you’re unsure about their hours, they’re actually super solid about updating their store hours on their website. Definitely give them a call though if you’re ever curious about anything. When you take a moment to stop and think of all the words to describe the feeling of owning and being able to hold your gold in your hand, you might find that it's really difficult to come up with enough words to describe the truly surreal emotions one can feel swirling around in their psyche. Like, surreal is definitely one word but there are definitely a few more words I can think of that accomplishes the goal as well like cool and neat. Thank you again, Kevin!

I have shopped at Norbert’s various store for decades now. He is knowledgeable, interesting, and definitely his own person. His shop is fun to visit. He has a wide knowledge of jewelry. The rings I now am wearing are from his shop. I get compliments often about the rings.
I was hoping 3rd time would be the charm, but nope...all 3 of my visits were less than satisfactory. I would've given 0 stars but 1 is the lowest option. This store is an unorganized mess, probably a fire hazard, and has an incredibly rude, know it all clerk, that can be found lounging out in front of the store smoking cigarettes with transients, or lounging with a dog on a leather sofa in the middle of the store. Most of the items in the store are without price tags, so it makes it very difficult to shop there. You have to ask how much each item costs, which seems to annoy the clerk, then It's like the guy sizes you up, and then gives you a price. I was excited to have a coin/jewelry shop near my new house, but I doubt I will be back. It's a shame too, because the area (absolute goldmine of a location) desperately needs a decent, professional coin/jewelry/bullion shop. This shop has a ton of potential with its location, but a friendly, more inviting clerk and better organization is a must. Sorry for the harsh review, but its all true. I have sold some gold coins in the past to Norbert and recently, I have helped a friend sell her gold bracelet. Norbert is not only knowledgeable but is of the highest integrity and standards in the jewelry business. There have been three places in my life that I have experienced this sense of honesty and two of them were in NYC: "The Gold District" on Canal Street and at Tiffany & Co. on Fifth Avenue, Manhattan (New York), NY! Norbert made me feel respected and he has a fountain of knowledge. Bentley tested the jewelry and he, too, was just as professional and, yet, "down-to-earth" as Norbert! If you don't do anything else, at least speak with them and see for yourself and Pacific Jewelers is resourceful!
I am going back because I have some family treasures that need good homes, people or museums that will take care of them respectfully!
