D'Aundre & Bryan knocked it out of the park as usual. This is the 4th vehicle I've leased from Southern GMC but specifically these two. I showed up on a Saturday morning, test drove a few options, picked a truck and they got me to my price point. It was a busy Saturday so I did need to come back on Sunday to sign my paper work but they definitely take care of their people. These 2 are the best in the business, hands down. First time working with their finance director, Jerome and he was great! There’s a reason I keep coming back to Southern GMC and it’s the people who work there!

Misleading pricing — wasted trip
The vehicle I came to see was originally listed online at $12,500, then later changed to $13,995 after sitting on the lot for a month. I was told after a few hours at the dealership that they would not sell the car for less than $16,000.
This felt like misleading pricing used to get customers in the door, only for the price to jump by several thousand dollars once you’re there. I understand taxes and fees exist, but refusing to honor anything close to the advertised price is unacceptable.

Amazing and seamless purchase. Both Salesman and Managers made the process honest and smooth with minimal back and forth making the buying process great. (Unheard of In todays Market) There was minimal manipulation of numbers which created a fair deal for both myself and the dealership.

Andrew was great to talk to about making a deal. Alex was very helpful and flexible letting me check out the vehicle. Dennis was up front and helpful with all of my financing options and what was available. Overall pleasure of a deal.

We had a pleasant experience here. Our sales person Alex was very accommodating anf pleasant to work with. The sales manager Chris and Frank in finance were both a pleasure to deal with also. My husband and I have bought many vehicles over the years and have had bad experiences before; however, we had a great experience here. We did not feel pushed, rushed or feel bad about anything during the process. They offered to search for exactly what we wanted. I would definitely recommend Southern Virginia Beach and ask for Alex!

Service department needs to take a class on customer service. Nasty does not go far. Working with the public is already challenging. However to be nasty for no reason is unprofessional. Run…. The worst service I’ve experienced at a dealership… Learn to be nice, oh i forgot it’s not always taught. Get another job if you don’t like working in the GMC service dept

Scheduling was effortless only when going through a real person. AI Pam needs to go or be replaced. Checking in was painless. The service was quick, and the video sent by the Technician was thorough. All team members in the service department were polite and professional.

I do not recommend leasing or purchasing from this dealership. Their customer service promises you the world in person, but once you leave, communication completely stops. Calls and emails go unanswered, and when you finally have to show up in person to get help, they act surprised. Furthermore, when an appointment has finally been made, I have shown up to them not expecting me.
Also, when I leased my vehicle in September, they left a $500 credit off my lease. Instead of correcting the lease, they said they would mail me a $500 check or apply it toward my first payment. I asked for written confirmation that I was owed the $500, and they provided an email (shame on me for accepting that). I have since called, emailed, and texted with the dealership with them stating the check was being sent (I have receipts). It’s now December, and I still have not received anything.

I stopped getting repairs after one of the advisors was transferred to the service department. However, I decided to try again and will admit, Antwan, one of the advisors, single-handedly changed my perception. At first encounter, he acknowledged my presence when I walked in. I mention this because two others did not which nearly caused me to walk out, but Antwan rectified things with his can-do, friendly and welcoming manner.
Antwan was informative in terms of when my truck would be ready and even provided a courtesy text with updates!
Service was impeccable from drop off to pickup hence the 5 star rating. I will be back.Dec 01, 2025 -
I called they said they have appointments available that day I get it towed up there which was nov 6th it gets assigned a technician on the 8th I don't receive an estimate until the 19th on the 12th and 13th both days they said they was charging the battery I asked question about the truck as far as how long it would take and protocol as far as how does the dealership experience supposed to go and I never got a straight answer I was texted I could come take my truck from them I'm guessing the questions I asked wasn't liked then they finally told me a price of 1260 which wasn't in the estimate which was sent 13 days later and still said they can't guarantee it would start overall the experience was not in my favor thanks for showing me different people get different services

Southern GMC in Virginia Beach is great at selling you a car but when you try to get it serviced one star. They don’t answer their phone in the service department, they don’t return phone Messages left on their messaging machine. They misinformed you about when your parts arrive to buy themselves more time. They do not contact you with updates on your vehicle. I have bought three cars from this dealership and I can tell you I will never buy another one, I will take my business elsewhere and it is 100% because of their service department. So if you expect Fast reliable, dependable service… This is not the dealership for you.
This is not a one off. This has been the last three times my truck has been in for service. It started day one with a sticker that was put on my truck that is crooked and to this day is still crooked after Repeatedly asking for it to be corrected, it’s a sticker…. I should’ve known at this point.

Had my car towed to this dealership, 16 days ago where it has been sitting for service with no updates and has yet to be looked at. I have to call them to find out anything about it, never receive any updates from them. I've only spoken to Tracey who's been fantastic when I can get her, and someone from the 888 number who calls, and can never reach a service advisor and leaves a message. My car is there on an insurance claim because it experienced flood damage..when I called initially, I was told I needed to get it in right away to be looked at because salt water is extremely corrosive to a vehicle. Someone in service told me they could fit me in two days after the incident and I had it towed there that day for my appointment. It's just been sitting there ever since. I called for an update and was told they don't even have enough technicians to even pull my car in because they have three other vehicles there that experienced flood damages as well. I even called and asked my insurance company to call and try to get an update - no answer, left a voicemail. The car is brand new and under warranty and has to be serviced here, and I am at a loss. My rental car allowance is up with no other options. I text my service advisor begging for an update and was told, " hope to have it in service next week ." Again, as of today, they've had my water logged vehicle for SIXTEEN DAYS. Unacceptable how this is being handled. If the car is to be totaled out by insurance, I planned to buy another. But that's no longer an option for me as I refuse to buy another car here because of this experience. I cannot RISK having another service experience like this, with a warranty at this dealership. Should someone read this and wish to reach out to me, I welcome the interaction as I've asked to speak to someone ASAP regarding this matter.

Despite having a 2020 vehicle, I struggled with my vehicle not being reliable for years. After years of stress and a last straw event that occurred when my vehicle broke down again, I knew I had to make a change. I can say with confidence that my experience buying a "new to me" vehicle from Southern KIA Virginia Beach was exceptional thanks to 3 key individuals who made the process as stress-free as possible.
Dally in the Service Department was beyond kind. Despite my stress, his positive attitude and can-do demeanor really helped make this transition seamless. He is exactly the kind of person who should work in customer service!
TJ in Sales took care of me today. He listened to my situation in full (trust me, it's crazy) without judgement. He understood exactly what I was looking for and found it within my budget without trying to upsell. In summation, he was kind, honest, and really worked hard to make things work for me. I couldn't have asked for a better salesperson, truly.
And last, but certainly not least, DJ (Dennis) in Finance was exceptional! He's friendly, funny, and answered all of my questions in a way I could fully understand (I'm not a car gal). After a long day and a stressful situation with my old car, someone like DJ is exactly the kind of person to make everything feel okay again. Took my car for an oil change a month 72 hours later car making a screeching noise!! this was NOT HAPPENING before I took the vehicle in... I haven't had time to take to a shop, yet ironically I get a letter in the mail from southern today encouraging me to obtain a warranty for protection and repairs????????? I do not trust dealerships at all. Can't go back to the Southern I purchased from in Woodbridge these folks are in shady business practices PERIOD... since I get these free oil changes that I paid for its best to take it there, however the jig is up with these people using this as a way to get your car in so they can find something to fix... OVER IT!! this car was purchased as CRAP I have to take this thing almost every 3 months for service and I only had it for 11 months... southern auto group is TRASH!!!!!!!

Andrew is the worse car salesman I have ever encountered. He showed us a vehicle and when we asked for more information, he said he had to speak to a manager. After waiting - lengthy amount of time, we had to interrupt his meeting and told him he had an event to get to. He promised to give us a call. He took my contact information and never called. My husband and I both called the dealership multiple times, one time I even spoke to the manager explaining that I wanted to purchase the vehicle and my frustration that no one had called me. After four days of calling and being sent to voicemails (still never getting a return call), I finally reached someone (a different salesperson came to the phone- the manager was not available) and they told me the vehicle had been sold. I have never had a more difficult time giving a business my money for a vehicle. When I asked what inventory they had or what was coming in, they put me on hold for 28 minutes and then hung up on me. I was warned about this dealership from a friend who had just purchased a brand new Escalade from them and it had all kinds of problems from the start. The vehicle was in the shop for months, after returning it to them with continuous problems. The dealership finally told them that they were finished dealing with that family and left them with a lemon of a vehicle. Thankfully they went to Newport News and found someone to help them and put them. If you can avoid this place- do! For the amount the yacht he for these vehicles, this level of customer service is not only disappointing, but is unethical.

We just bought a car at GMC s GMC Sierra 2026 1500 ultimate Denali! Very happy and want to give a 5 star service customer service to the people that help us with the process special to Kacie Ashli, Vincent and Dj.
If you want to have a nice experience go and talk to Vincent ( seller) he will help you a lot. Customer service with the 4 of them was wonderful!
And we trade 2 of ours cars and they gave us a good number for them.

Made an online appointment for a simple oil change. Service stated that they were busy but should have me out in 2 hours or less. Found my truck still sitting in the back of the lot after more than 2 hours. It hadn’t even been touched.

The buying part of Southern is fine. The service department is the worst I've ever seen. I'd need a pretty long review to go over all of the issues I've had with them. Long story short, I wont be buying another vehicle from them. Which is a shame because they are the closest GMC dealer to me, which should tell you something if someone wont go back to their most convenient dealer.

One word: RUN! This is by far the worst experience with a dealership in my 35 years of driving. Our 2021 Buick had an issue as we were preparing to drive the 600+ miles back home. We managed to “limp” to this dealership for service. That was the single biggest mistake I’ve made as a car owner. The experience with them has been horrible from the minute I called and told them we were on the highway with the car only going 36 and being told I needed to make an appointment. After we got there, even after explaining our situation we were told how busy they were and that they’d see what they could do. Mid morning the next day after not hearing anything, we called twice without a return call. Now as we come up on 20+ hours of being stranded in VA Beach, we ‘should receive a call in about an hour’ after someone takes a look at the vehicle. We’ve been loyal to the Buick brand for years, are members of their opinion panel, and also their member plan. Ask yourself if you want to be treated this way and also take a look at Yelp where you’ll find some very insightful reviews.

The salesmans, Alex, was great on the day that I was purchasing the vehicle.. but once I drove off the lot and found a minor issue, I was avoided. After 2 additional trips to the dealership, the lovely blonde lady at the front and service, everything is good to go.

I had a great experience buying a car from Southern Buick, Va Beach. Austin Wood was my salesman and I liked his low key selling style. All of the staff there was friendly and made car buying go smoothly. My one suggestion would be . . . (and this is for all dealerships) . . . why oh why does it always take so long between the time one decides on a particular car - and the time you drive it off the lot?
