Sandra sold my dead mother’s entire house and refused to give me any money from the auction. Terrible human. Please share. Sandra, feel free to return any of my voicemails.

I went there Friday 8/29..ask gentleman about something that wasn't priced..I understand he was helping someone else..but his response was very rude..it would have been nice to say "I'll help you as soon as I'm finish with this customer..I must admit..he came back later and apologized in his own way for being short with me..but I write this review because when dealing with the public in your establishment..please be careful how you respond..it's not our problem if you're short with help.

Placed 6 Wraught Iron Chairs there in December, 2024 for an April auction and to date (August 11, 2025) and have not heard anything back from them I have called the owner, Sandra, weekly with promises from the employees that she would return my calls. I would not recommend them!!!

Great customer service, very accommodating and will hold items for you if you don’t have space, they also have can deliver for an extra charge, lots of good stuff. Definitely found my new favorite thrift store.

Very extensive inventory and the products are all in very good shape. Everything seems to be reasonably priced. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I don’t understand all of the negative comments about the staff. A beautiful place to walk around and look for neat things to add to your hobbies.

Very rude and unprofessional representation of the business. Be very mindful of who you put in charge of phone calls for they are the representation of your business. I Would never do business with this company

This place has declined in the years that I have been going to them. Just went today and found out that they no longer had restrooms for the customers. You had to cross the parking lot to the port-a-potty in the rain and 41° weather. Can't even wash my hands after going to the bathroom? It's obvious they don't care for the health of the people who come into their establishment.

Top Notch! Great place for treasure hunting. Check out all the cool collectible toys and comics at Booth #74 #TimelessToysAndComics

This business demonstrates poor customer service. Inside the location there are clearly marked, but locked, bathrooms. When my wife asked to use them, she was told to use the port-a-pot outside. This was absurd. It was 95 degrees outside and the business expected a woman to use a dirty, stench filled port—a-pot. It’s a terrible business practice to treat your customers so poorly.

Didn't take too many pictures as things actively change, displays and items and such The actual place is pretty big though Great selection of furniture and other trinkets. Here's the thing; I liked it but some things were priced absurdly. I saw some examples like a newer cast iron lodge skillet that was 35 bucks when brand new its 20 at Walmart (I know a bit about cast iron) Some other examples were small trinkets, I saw some military or navy stuff that was Overpriced (coins or ribbons, you know, things you can get on Amazon, things that aren't uncommon with a uncommon price tag) What got me was these little capsule things which was a glass art peice, there must have been like a dozen of them All slightly different. Some were like 10, 15, 30 and one 160. I asked the staff and the staff said the price person sometimes just prices things. Which explain some of the prices. There was also some cheap ish like mall store knives, but definitely not the mall store tag. Everything was cool and neat but things were severely hit and miss price wise. I feel like they searched on eBay and got a rough estimate, of what something was and ended up going with it, but didn't see what the items sold for. Staff was great and patient, stayed busy as well. I'd return just to wander and maybe run into something neat, with a not so neat price tag.

I don’t know why this only has 3.4 stars it’s the best honestly in the country. I love antique malls. I really love atomic kitty. Her stuff is great. Kind of expensive but the coolest. Thanks for all your things and that big cow in the back

We had a very nice time searching through the many sections of the store. Noticed that some of the sections were so over stocked, one could not even get close enough to see the items. We did however, find several nice collectibles. Overall a good experience. We will definitely visit again next time we are in Virginia Beach.

I tried going here to look for antiques and the first time was fine, but the second time the store cats chased me out the door. Super uncomfortable experience. Not sure if they're agressive or not, but I wasn't able to continue shopping. I don't understand why there are pets in a store in the first place. Cat allergies are common and some people like me don't want to get touched by weird animals we dont know.

I have bought many items from Barrett Street Auctions. As with all auction houses, the buyer must be alert and on guard. Beware of boxed sets the auction house displays. Chipped & cracked dishes and crystal will be included in your purchase! This weekend, I purchased a bed set at an estate sale. I was informed I was buying the whole ensemble. But when I came back to load up my purchase, both the expensive quilt and the thick foam padding were stolen off the bed. Beware if you buy something & return later - parts of your purchase will walk off - and no knows anything or sees anything! I still got a terrific deal with this purchase though!!

I gave this company multiple antiques to sell a year ago. The items they sold at auction they practically gave away. I understand that antiques are not so much in favor right now. They also kept some of the nicer items in their showroom to try to sell. Anytime I would inquire about an item that was "missing", that I had not been paid for, it was pulling teeth to get the owner to respond to me. It was always "The check is in the mail". It was not. One item they had priced for $1,150 in the showroom they "sold" for $200, netting me $120. If you have antiques to get rid of, you'd be better off giving them to Goodwill, and take a tax deduction. As a side note, the rest of the staff were always helpful to me. They tried their best to get the owner to communicate with me, to no avail.

Some cool stuff, mostly overpriced. The one star reviews are right about the old people that work there, they gave me trouble about my purse because it has straps, they don’t allow “backpacks”. I’m not leaving my purse with y’all, that is insane.

***do not go here if you are not a white elderly person***After years of loyalty to this antique mall I unfortunately will never come back due to a horrible experience with a lady at the counter. I brought an item to the front that I had been eyeballing for over 2 years and was shocked that it was still in the same place. I asked the counter lady if she would call the vendor to lower the price by like $10 and she immediately said “NO she would never do that, I’m not asking her and I don’t care that it’s been there for years because this is an antique mall and things sit around here for years, that’s how antique malls work” she said this in a very belittling way. I walked away, but then realized that I don’t want to spend my money in a place that talks down to me just for asking a simple question. I’ve spent probably thousands of dollars here and have spent years recommending it and bringing my friends who have never been but that’s done, they have a new reputation in my book. I’ve seen this lady be very kind and helpful to other white older women that look like her so honestly I feel like she chose to be rude to me because I’m a tattooed and pierced person. So if you’re not an elderly white person you might get bad customer service here.

I've enjoyed my relationship with Barrett Street Auction Center for well over 25years. I have had them sell for me at their auctions along with buying unique items you can only find there. Everyone has always been so welcoming and friendly. The atmosphere is pleasant. I go there to relax and stroll through the store. The inventory is always changing. I do believe I have found some very good buys there. They have vendors who restore furniture. I see young couples in there all the time looking at beautiful pieces that you rarely find in todays furniture stores. Why would anyone buy press wood when you can get a restored piece for less than new? You would be surprised at what's there to make your home a show place. Go to Barrett Street Auction Center and Antique Mall when looking for quality solid wood furniture. It's a must SEE!!!! Cheryl Talbot

I'm very glad to found this store, you can find everything here. Very clean and easy to find the items that you want, they decorated each spot as a kitchen, living room, or balcony. Most wooden items as decorations and furniture. I will be back for some more wood stuff.

One of my favorite Antique Malls. I typically spend about 3 hours really scouring the place. Some of the shops are a little cluttered, but everything is tagged. You can find just about anything: furniture, comics, jewelry, and more!

This place is huge! If you're into antiques or collectibles, you should definitely drop in. Be prepared to lose a couple hours looking at everything. Tons of furniture, Pyrex, glassware, collectibles, jewelry, and vintage clothing. The pricing seems pretty reasonable. There are cats in the store though, so if you're allergic, be warned. There's also a sign on the door alerting to the cats. Very friendly and helpful staff!

Bought a beautiful piece of crystal here on Friday. It was supposed to be the perfect wedding gift. While I was waiting in line to check out a young man behind the counter took off part of the green paper tag that was along the bottom of the vase and wrapped the crystal in paper and had it already bagged when it was my turn to check out. I got home and unwrapped it to hand wash it before giving as a gift. I pulled off the green paper & clear packing tape from the base, that's when I saw that this vase had a large chip and the base was cracked. It wasn't a lot of money but I felt gypped. I immediately called the store and was told that I could bring it back in to show the owner but all sales are final. No apology, just "all sales are final." Lesson learned. Doubt that I will return. I'm sure my patronage won't hurt their business, but for me it spoke volumes to today's mentality on service.

A really fun place to spend a day as if you were in a museum. So many creative items and antiques galore. I have noticed a lot of reviews on here have mentioned poor customer service. We were shopping around at a few antique places before making any decisions so I can’t yet speak for the customer service; though we plan on returning next weekend. I will update this review if we encounter the same issues as others.

Staff is not very professional and extremely rude. I have shopped for years there, and find it the last several visits very unkept, not one staff member walked the areas to ask if you needed anything or if they could put your items up at the counter - this was done in years past. There were three individuals behind the counter, playing / joking amongst themselves - ignoring the customer aspect of a business. My items totaled over $100, and I specifically asked if all my items were included in my packages. The rude response was "we ensure that all items are wrapped and in your bags". Well to my surprise one item was not. I called and the individual did not apologize - and informed me they will not mail the item but would hold the item. I live in Chesapeake - it is a 45 min drive for me. My next visit will be my last. And I will never recommend this location again.

Everything is labeled. In the showcases the prices are visible. The staff is nice. The selection is unique and wonderful. The place is very good !! The bad reviews made a difference and I am very glad I went despite them!!! It was a great experience!!

Wow, incredibly rude staff. I'm sorry I even went into this place. Anything worth looking at is in one of the many locked cases and the only people working were a very rude lady and a 10 year old girl. Every time I had to ask for a case to be opened I could tell she was irritated to have to help someone. She was very rude to my wife when she asked about something in a case. "It's not my showcase, I have no idea" was her response to a general question about some antique photographs. That's fine if you don't know, but you don't have to be nasty about it. I became very uncomfortable even asking her to open cases because she was so huffy about it that I finally gave up and left. But not before paying for the one item my wife wanted, which seemed to completely exhaust what little patience the lady (I think her name was Inga) had left. No smile, no genuine emotion besides utter disgust at having to help someone. As far as the "Antiques" on offer, it ranged from a few decent pieces that would actually qualify as antiques, all the way up to pure flea market junk that has no place in an Antique mall. Most of the "good" items were so vastly overpriced that it was almost comical. Whenever I'd find a piece I was interested in I'd look at the price tag and get a shock. Between the prices, the less than impressive items available, and the rude staff, I'll be skipping this one from now on and I suggest others do the same.

Barrett’s is a great place to buy antiques. The owner is very nice and is willing to talk to you about any questions you may have about their processes or items you may have. He is very knowledgeable. You have to go often as products are always changing. Go here just for fun to see all of the eclectic items. There Old things out there you never knew existed. And as they say, all things old are good.

This was an amazing experience. My family (of five) and I all wandered around this depot for hours. There were points where we all lost each other in the winding labyrinth of shelves and antiques. Some areas felt impossible to still be part of this store and even our dimension. Highly recommend it. 5/5 starss

This is a really cool place, and well maintained. I was very impressed with how clean the restrooms were. My main complaint is how slow the service is. We stood in line to check out for twenty minutes before deciding to leave. There weren't many customers, so I'm not sure what took so long.
