I had to find an attendant to help me, and then she said they changed their can policy 2 weeks ago to where they don't take them in black bags anymore, only clear. No exceptions. This place is NOT convenient to go to and now it's even worse.
Haven't used this yard since it was Metro back in the day, took a couple of commercial chassis trucks up to be scrapped today 6/16/25. Prices were Fair, yard and scale is still easy to navigate, Sid (Syd?) in the front office is very knowledgeable and helpful, very happy to know that theres a good yard in VB rather than Norfolk for our future needs. Thanks Empire!
First time going to this scrap yard today and awsome people. The guy inside the office was helpful and didn't sound annoyed just to be there. Definitely recommend this scrap yard over any other.
I do not understand why this scrapyard has such a high rating. I’m not sure if it’s relative’s posting, but let me tell you from an outsider. It is one of the dirtiest nastiest I have seen. It’s muddy and it’s dangerous. There is no comparison to the scrapyard in Norfolk, and it pays less than Norfolk! You don’t go inside anymore. You have to go to the window and you have to climb the so call steps below and hope you are at least over 6’ to see in the window
I been to many of scrap yards and this one easy quick and helpful. The staff was friendly and even offered Ice cream to our crew. Bonus pineapple fresh cut at the countertop bar payment area. The bank they send you to was friendly and easy to recieve payment. I wish all business had things together like Empire recycling of Virginia Beach.
as a first timer, they told me where to go and who to talk to and go from there. The person sorting, explained to me what is what and why it is in said catagory. I’ve been back 3 more times and heading back in with more today, learning a little more each time what’s worth more broken down, and what’s not worth my time (everyone has their own system and perspective).

Trying to buy a piece of scrap steel was met with attitude by the manager on duty. I offered to pay a premium on a specific piece of scrap. I have a sneaking suspicion that the owners would like to have my money. Just saying.
Very professional! The staff was on their A-game. I rolled in and was greeted by two people that informed me where to drop off scap metal. They helped me unload and gave me very competitive prices. Chris was especially helpful and got me in and out of there quickly on my lunch break. I highly recommend this outfit.
Best place to bring your scrap metal! Everyone working here is very friendly and helpful. Started coming here a few months ago and prefer to come here over all the other scrap yards in VB & Norfolk. Also, Don't feel as rushed as some other places. Definitely recommend!
My 10 year old daughter had been saving up aluminum cans and we took them to Empire on Oceana Blvd. The guys there were very nice to her and encouraging of her efforts to recycle. Very impressed.
Straightforward, honest, no bs. Prices online matched the prices there. I had a question about difference in price based on quality of scrap, and it was answered intelligently and succinctly. Scale seemed to be in good repair.
The guys there are awesome and they have a great way about their business. Their knowledge and prices are above par and are ready to help you with disposing of all your scrap metal. They are my new number one scrap yard to do business with.

Best scrapyard I ever been too. Clean helpful and a great environment. These guys love what they do. They pay top dollar for your scrap and are very professional so you don't have to worry about getting ripped off. Plus they are open on Saturday.

First time customer at Empire recycling today. Great service with knowledgeable friendly staff. Cleanest recycle yard I have ever seen. Great prices on all types of metal. Definitely a place I will go back too.
