We were in a pretty desperate tire situation on our way home to SC with about 175 miles to go. We had a hex screw in the back tire. Good thing we had an air compressor because the hole was so big that we were having to stop every 5 minutes to put air in the tire and this was around 8:00 pm on a Sunday and sundown. I called Land's Towing and spoke with Keith who wasted no time with a potential solution and arrived in about 30 mins to our location. He and Brad M. assessed the tire, pulled it off, double plugged it and had us back on the road in under 45 mins. Keith stayed for a quick test drive to make sure we were good and we were all set. My husband had a flight out for work the next morning, and this fix was our only option for getting home that night, aside from being towed all the way home for $1200. We paid a fraction of that for the repair, which was most appreciated. Keith and Brad M. were wonderful to work with and knew their stuff and also very friendly. We felt very comfortable with them and their work. Highly recommend! A million thanks for helping us get home safely!
DO NOT CALL THESE PEOPLE! My trailer got caught in a drop off on the side of the road on private property. We called National Roadside who had me on the phone for about 30 minutes. I sent pictures for an estimate and they stated they would charge $2300 “no more, no less”. They finally arrived an hour later with a truck under the name Land’s towing. I got a call back from National roadside requesting another $810 after assessing the situation further they would need a second truck to assist. I paid and waited. Another hour goes by and another company named Smith Ent showed up and asked my driver for a copy of the registration. I then get a call from national again saying well you have another company doing the service so we will just stand by. I told them we did not under any circumstances call anyone else and they need to do the job and why are there 2 companies there? I asked the name that should be on the trucks and they gave both, Land’s and Smith. So I’m going back and forth calling my driver and National Roadside. Finally the company Land’s decides to do the job. No second truck by the way and they got it back on the road in about 10 minutes. I have this on video. I get a call from my driver that Land’s is waiting for payment in the amount of $7,500.00 and if we don’t pay they’re going to impound my truck. We called National roadside several times, I was promised a call back from the manager and put on hold and hung up each time. They refused to pay Land’s apparently stating they did not dispatch them although Land’s has a work order email from them. Land’s stated they did not receive any payment from anyone and blocked my driver in from leaving. We called the local sheriffs and they were clearly involved. They impounded my trailer even though I showed proof to them we already paid and that was between National Roadside and Land’s since they have contracted work. I also tried to fight the amount they were requesting after I had already been quoted for the job. They claimed it took 2 trucks and hours of labor. I have on video the one truck they used and the job that took all of about 10 minutes of time. Bottom line, I had to pay an additional $7500.00 the next day to get my trailer back. What a scam!!
I requested roadside assistance for gas through my triple A service. The guy that serviced me was very unprofessional and ignorant. When he first approached me he asked “are you really out of gas or just low?”. Wrongfully assuming I couldn’t afford gas because I was in the parking lot at my doctor’s appointment. He threatened to report me to Triple A if my gas needle was at a certain point when I cranked the car. I explained why I was in the parking lot which I shouldn’t have to do and he changed it to “I’m not saying you’d do that people just normally do that to go clubbing in Greensboro”. The entire exchange was uncomfortable, but 5 stars to me for keeping my composure and understanding some people just are who they are. I highly recommend JJ Hogan’s Towing Service! :)
Terrible customer service called for a tow 07/10 around 6:30 was told someone would be there by 7:30 around 8 I called to check for a new arrival time and was giving a long story and my time was changed to 10:30. No one ever came I guess they just decide to not show and not call. Not a company you can depend on to say the least.
Awesome owner and staff. They are always right there when needed. We've had to use him many times for breakdowns and accidents and they have provided top notch service every time!

These people need a class action law suit. They have robbed the company I work for for $30,000. A 18 wheeler of ours ran into a tree on the freeway and these scam artist came and picked it up. There were no other vehicles involved. They claimed we needed a specialty tow, so they hired 4 tow trucks for one truck and trailer for over 6 hours per vehicle and they claimed it was "very bad" but the pictures say otherwise. They even went on to hire a "professional cleaning crew," for one truck that hit a tree in the median and the trailer undamaged. The truck suffered a smashed front end, didn't turn over, didn't have parts all over the road. I spoke with the manager Scottie and he is as crooked as a blind man trying to walk a straight line, he does not keep his word, he is money hungry and when I told him that the company would not get away with this, he said "who is going to regulate me?" It's obvious that these tow companies have been takin advantage of people, especially this one, they have been eating off of the labor and strife of trucking companies who cross over their troll bridge, looking for whom they can financially devour. Why do they do it??? Because no one is governing their business practices.
The trailer in the accident had a load on it that needed to be delivered and Land's Towing refused to release the trailer if the owners did not wire them $23,000 immediately. After the storage fees the total cost was over $32,000 which ate into the bulk of the truck replacement of $55k, can you imagine being without a truck and paying more that half of the replacement cost in towing and storage???? This company could care less. So since this company feels like they can't be touched I'd like to file a class action law suit against them, so the government can look into their affairs and their fraudulent practices and try to help some people get their money back. I am almost certain this company has not covered their tracks. Highway robbery. Literally. While their towing service was timely and great, they charged my insurance company over $3000 to “store” the car while they haggled over payment terms. They definitely know and take advantage of what insurance covers. By not be willing to accept my insurance’s credit card or purchase order to tow the car to a garage they were able to charge them over 30 days of “storage charges” during the haggling process. NEVER let them tow your vehicle to their lot. They will hold your car hostage and charge exorbitant “storage charges” for your car to sit on their lot in rural Virginia.
They have been really nice and caring...working about the costumer as much as the car...relayable and prices accordingly...wouldn't use anyone else as long as they are in business...love them.
I had my Chevy truck towed in by the guys because I couldn't get my truck started due to a timing issue. Charged me very little for towing and repair. Great service and would recommend again.
Quick service and friendly. Brad is a great guy. Our van broke down on 29, as in completely no electrical. Brad came out quickly with his tow truck but because we couldn't get the vehicle in neutral he couldn't tow with the truck he brought. He left and came back right away with the flat bed. He let my husband work on the van it in his yard while he went on another tow. Also had our German Shepard with us. No room in truck for dog. So dog had to ride in van during the tow, 80 degrees and couldn't roll windows down. Thankfully it was only a few miles. As soon we got to the shop he right away got water for the dog. Nice guy!!!! AND no highway robbery, he was very fair with his price. It sucked that we broke down, but I'm glad we broke down so close to his place. Thank you Brad.
I have had 2 bad experiences with just the tow truck on 29. Had the driver pull out in front of me on 29 while I was passing a tractor trailer. Both of us slamming in brakes to avoid the tow truck. Then 2 days later ( same woman driver) gets beside me because I wasnt going fast enough, so she wanted to cut over in front of me. Called to report after the 2nd time being bullied by a driver who thinks she owns the road. I was going 73 and she passed me like I was sitting still. Will never call this company because of this unprofessional driver.
I'm really disappointed. My vehicle was towed and once it was finally brought to my home, the tuner was somehow missing from the vehicle. I called and I quired as to why the tuner was missing and the receptionist said they had no idea. Funny thing, the vehicle can not run without the tuner.
We were dispatched to a winchout in a rural area of Roanoke county. A fellow tow op pointed me in the right direction of the stuck truck and returned to the scene to offer a hand. Stand up guy... 👍👍👍
Omg, what a great place my car would not start, it was 97 degrees I called them the were right there. Then after he put my car on the truck he opened the passenger door and held it for me to get in. Now that is respect, then when I needed them to pick up my car to take to shop they were just as good thank you for not leaving me wait for hours to get my car towed and me being in the heat you guys are great and I thank you so much
Over the weekend my car overheated on the way to Chatham causing the car to go in to LIMP mode meaning I couldn't move it at all. I was on the way to the vet with a mama dog and her 4 puppies. I called Land's Towing, explained the situation and told them that I needed a rollback as soon as they could get there because it was cold and I had 4 4 week old puppies in the car and they all needed to get to their appointment. The driver got to where I was very quickly and loaded my car up in very little time. He was very professional and helpful. I would definitely recommend Land's Towing to anyone in the Chatham/Gretna/Danville area or if you're stranded on the side of 29 like I was.
My wife delivers mail 5 days a week and, as we all know, the mail must go through. So, when one of her trucks breaks down, it is crucial that she gets it to the repair shop quickly. Land's Towing has always been there right on time and gets the job done professionally and quickly. Would not call anyone else!
One of the drivers almost ran me off the road and wrecked me and my 16 yr. Old son. If I hadn't hit my breaks hard, we would have crashed badly going 55 mph. Then he had the nerve to run down the road, pull over, and as we went by he yelled F-you to us out his window because I had followed him and gotten his info off the truck. When my son called, the man said he would take care of it and hung up. I tried calling back to talk to him but he was on the phone with the driver so I called back many times and they refused to answer the phone!
