What clients say about Copart - Hampton in Newport News (VA)

I've been here 5 times already. Not once have I waited less than 1.5 hours. I would understand if the issue was due to the excessive workload of Copart by transporters. But the fact is that when there are at least 5 trucks in the loading zone waiting for their vehicles, the forklift operator is nowhere to be found for 20 minutes. There's just no one around. They absolutely don't care about anything. They are very slow. They cancel appointments. Just know this and be prepared.

2 o’clock appointment and I’m still waiting at 6. (Supposed to close at 5) If you have nothing better to do come sit in this hot dusty parking lot pondering your life choices while employees mosey around like they have all day. Half the forklifts were sitting the entire time. The operators were moving cars to the back of the yard instead of picking cars for the haulers. Very disappointing experience! The employees are definitely milking the clock for overtime. I don’t know how upper management doesn’t see this for what it is. An entrepreneur could make bank setting up a taco truck here selling food and drinks, with an outhouse or 2 hanging off the back 😂

This place does not deserve any stars, the general manager of this place is very disgusting, they have no consideration for people and they do not care about making truckers wait. It is one of the worst places in Copart. they expect you to tip them 10-20 dollars and the general manager does not take any measures to solve this problem

I do not recommend AT ALL! This establishment was responsible for collecting my car through my insurance company. After my car was totaled, it had to be taken to a junk yard. An employee called me during the week and asked if I was ready to have my car picked up. I told them I was ready for it to be picked up, I just needed to clean it out. I was told that there would be no one available to collect it until the weekend. I was not aware that the establishment was not even open on the weekends. I agreed with this, since I still needed to clean my belongings out. I was told someone would call an hour in advance to let me know they were on the way before they arrived. Copart took it upon themselves to dispatch someone to collect my car the next day (not the weekend). I never received a phone call. When I called them, they tried to convince me that I agreed to the date. I was told that I could come collect my materials. When I got there to get my things, I was told that everything would be in the trunk. I was never asked for my ID to identify who I was, so I really could have been anyone. I went to my car and EVERYTHING was gone. I had chargers, a couple of bags of clothes that needed to be donated to Goodwill, sports chairs, and a few other things. There was not a stitch of anything left! When I say wiped out, I mean wiped out!!! When I asked about my belongings, nobody knew anything about it. I was told to call my insurance company, but why would they know anything? All they do is dispatch, they have nothing to do with the vehicle. The lady who "helped" me did not want to take any accountability for what happened with the items, but there is only one way to explain how things on your property go missing. If you can avoid this company, please do!
