I called to ask for a simple price quote, and instead of receiving a straightforward answer, I was met with suspicion and accused of being a competitor scrapyard. Not only was this unprofessional, but also incredibly rude. As a potential customer, I expected basic courtesy and transparency—not accusations. If this is how they treat inquiries, I can only imagine how they handle actual business. I’ll be taking my business elsewhere.
No drive-on scale so have to place all metals on scale by hand. The weighing process is hectic and hard to follow. Had a large load of mixed materials and didn’t notice until I got home they left about 12 pounds of insulated copper wire off and a few other weights were noticeably low. Cashier does all calculations by hand and made three different mistakes (all to my disadvantage, of course).
I would give 1 star but the copper price was good. Aluminum prices were pathetic.
My friend recommended this place. It was my first time calling. They picked up and hung up the phone. I will not attempt to call again or do any business with a company that allows someone to represent them like that.
Great location, tucked in the heart of Merrifield. Just enough room to orchestrate daily peak times, for quick amd easy in out with out much of a wait, if any at all. Staff are humble and plesant, always working. Very insightful and astute. Thank you to all the crew. Just saw a bunch of cans off the side off the road. Nice to know you can help keep the local well kempt and earn some on top of it. One can easily pay gas, food, and small bills simply with a trash bag near by and alerting Neighbors that you're headed to the dump. Most of them are glad to just give you the stuff which helps fluff up your score.
Kool place. But , be careful with the slow male cashier with glasses, he can't count/ place games with giving you the right amount of money. He tried rip me off twice with a devilish smile. I had correct him 2x . Where is the dam owner?
The website says open till 3:00 on Saturdays so I drove from Sterling to Falls Church with a truck and trailer full and get there and the sign up front says one and they were closed update your website on Google
Called in to inquire the price of copper. I let her know it was painted gutters, scrap copper. Receptionist quoted for copper #2, but when I arrived she priced it for light copper, lower grade. Bait and switch.
The people here are the among the nicest and most professional metal recyclers in the area.
I’ve called every yard in a 25 mile radius of this store and they beat everyone in bare bright copper and insulated copper wire prices, Potomac metals pays more for bx cable though by 15 cents right now.
They never pull any tricks on me like some other scrap yards that eyeball the weight of my containers.
Everyone I have worked with has been very helpful in helping lift things as well as answer any questions I have to the best of their abilities.
All of their employees are great, Omar is always a big help.
RRT is my number one recommendation for metal recycling.
Recommend to anyone looking for competitive prices and amazing staff! It’s the only place my father and I go out to even if we have to drive out 45 min!
I just went to scrap some washer and dryer, and I had 4 pounds of brass door handles, and they paid 2 pounds as sheet aluminum and 2 pounds as cast iron 3 cents per pound on the cast iron and 28 cents on sheet aluminum they stole from me, therefore for me this is the worst place to go to.
Competitive prices and very efficient staff. I don’t like that they don’t offer a printed receipt like other places but other than that I think is a good place.
I would recommend RRT Metals to anyone. Excellent service, polite and efficient staff. Good price compared to other scrapyards I've previously used . Would definitely use again if needed , so easy , recommended.
Save yourself the time and make a few extra bucks (or hundreds if you got a big load) and go down the street to Milestone. You'd think these 2 yards would try and stay competive with each other on their prices being as they're so close to each other, but thats not the case. They don't even price match. On the other hand the vehicle scale on the other side of the yard for non-ferrous is a great option plus the guy who runs the portable trailer (older white guy) not sure if he's there anymore, is really cool.
