We had an emergency with our Mercedes while traveling through from out of state. The team at Thompson Auto Repair took care of it right away and had us back on the road in no time. They were super friendly and explained what had happened. A++, highly recommended!!

Highly recommend this repair shop. They did a full inspection of my car to see what the problem was. They listen to my concerns with my car. They recommended things that should be done that needs to be done some on the high priority list and give the option to get them done, which I did. They were able to pinpoint my problem on my car when one auto repair shop could not. they took their time to look into the problem. I highly recommend this repair shop. They keep you updated on your car repairs. And they send you a link to look at your recommendations on what they find with pictures

It’s so hard finding a mechanic you can trust to do the right thing, but I never have to worry about that here. Everyone is so kind, and I love that they do a thorough check of your entire vehicle. They send a report with photos of what is good, what needs attention soon, and what is urgent. They don’t overcharge and they take pride in being honest. Thompson is such a gem!

Wow—absolutely love this shop! The owner personally got on the phone with me and walked me through an issue with my car in no time. I had already been to the dealership and another mechanic, both of whom tried to charge me a fortune. Donnie, on the other hand, was honest, straightforward, and solved the problem right away. I was referred to this business by a friend that has an auto repair shop background. Donny greeted me and gave me a tour of his facility. I scheduled our car for A/C maintenance expecting an expensive fix to our problem. We were pleasantly suprised that they discoved the fix was far less expensive than we were expecting. Communication was excellent and we would recommend Thompson Auto Repair to anyone looking for a local auto repair shop.

Where to begin. 2020 Ranger brought in for some issues with acceleration and tune up. First time customer. The initial assessment was transmission issue which would result in replacement. The staff rechecked and discovered a possible lead to a completely different problem. They determined the issue (not transmission) and were able to resolve the issue and save this car owner a good bit of money. I would highly recommend Thompson's to anyone looking to have their vehicle serviced. Everyone at Thompson's was courteous, professional, and honestly cared to provide the best service possible. As a consumer I can appreciate this type of business and will continue to use Thompson's.

For any teenage girls out there, if you’re concerned about getting ripped-off by an auto repair shop because you might not know very much about vehicles, Thompson’s is like a breath of fresh air! They take the time to listen to your concerns, walk you what they observed is wrong with your vehicle (with visuals!), why they will do certain procedures, and how they plan to do them so that you are completely informed. When they send you a quote for their work, they break down the cost into prices for parts and for labor, which is incredibly helpful to understand how the price is added up. The all the workers (and especially the woman at the front desk) couldn’t be nicer, giving a wonderful customized and exceptional experience. Coming from a fairly new car owner and teen girl, I have been consistently impressed with their work and will continue to use Thompson’s for my vehicles.

Today’s reason out of the million I love Thompson Auto Repair: I come in as soon as the shop opens with a barrage of symptoms to include, “My truck is farting when I accelerate and coughing when I coast or idle; it stalls out when I brake too fast and I think it wants to kill me. No codes no lights on. Also the oil on my dipstick is so dirty I can’t tell what level it’s at so I need a diagnostic on all the things please. If it needs a part I’ll pay a rush to get it here today I gotta do life.” Within an hour, oil is changed (turns out the level was low but it was so dirty it was sticking to the sides of the dipstick/my spacey self didn’t notice), tiny crack in radiator is identified, new radiator is located and on the way, and fuel tank and engine cleaning being done. Before lunch I’m paying my bill, which doesn’t break the bank, All while receiving the most kind and patient service, without any shaming whatsoever for being a busy professional who hasn’t paid attention at all to her in the last several months ?‍♀️ . I will always trust my vehicles with this reliable family business!

Excellent customer service from the day I first called to make the appointment to the day I dropped it off and picked it up. Donny is very knowledgeable and explained exactly what was wrong with my Jeep. I will take it back to his shop for any future repairs needed.

Fortunately, my husband is pretty handy when it comes to maintenance on our cars. If it is something he isn't comfortable with, we always go to Donny. Donny and his crew are always quick and will tell you exactly how it is. He has his customers best interest in mind, and he isn't making recommendations to fill his own wallet. Everyone is so friendly, too. Just the icing on the cake for a great experience. We trust this shop with all of our cars, and we can't imagine going anywhere else.

Amazing service & kind humans. Not many want to or will work on a Mini Cooper. But Thompson Auto went above and beyond. I was expecting them just to check the basics and they sent us a full inspection with pictures. The best part is they didn’t only highlight what was wrong but also told us what wasn’t wrong. My daughter’s car was fixed in a super timely manner and best part it was actually fixed. I walked away with a sad bank account but with a happy kid And confidence in the repairs. Thank you Donnie and team! Also, the lady that answers the phone is seriously the sweetest person I’ve ever dealt with in customer service ❤️❤️

I've never considered reviewing a service station. My Thompson experience was so different from anything I've experienced I wanted to take a moment to share. We were traveling from PA to VA and started having car trouble. They understood our situation and need to get back on the road quickly. We were able not only to comfortably wait in extremely nice waiting and exceptionally clean waiting area. Great wi-fi, coffee and water made working a breeze. They even had a portable stand for our laptop. Before we knew Wish they were closer they would be my go to!

I am beyond impressed with the professionalism and service of Thompson Auto Repair. I had my car towed to their shop and was welcomed by Dana behind the desk who asked me some questions about my car in order to best meet my needs. She was warm, friendly and genuinely cared about what was going on. The shop's owner (or partial owner, I'm not sure), also gave me assurance that they would figure out what was going on and was very knowledgeable and helpful. Even though I didn't have a scheduled appointment, they still got me in and called me later in the day to let me know what repairs would need to be done. Their waiting room is comfortable and I appreciated the free wifi so I could still get work done while waiting for my ride. I wish I could give 10 stars.

It’s hard to find a good mechanic that you can trust to do the work properly and also care about what they do. Donny and his team are legit. I had the AC go out in my truck and oil was leaking in the rear differential pinion seal. They told me exactly what the problem was and what needs to be fixed. They called me everyday to let me know what was going on and their progress and I even came in to see where they found the issues. I’d recommend these guys to anyone!

A great friend referred me to Thompson Auto Repair after the first auto shop didnt fix the problem. The experience at Thompson Auto Repair was absolutely amazing. From the time, I walked in the door the customer service was on point. They were very honest and knowledgeable. They listened and was very attentive when I was explaining the issue my car had. I found Thompson by asking for the best auto-service shop in the Culpeper Area. I received tons of recommendations for this place, and after my first experience I understand why. They are truly the best service experience I have ever had. They take their time to explain the true issues with your car, and they don’t try to sell you anything you do not need at the moment. The prices are extremely fair. I will continue to take every vehicle I own to this place. I would do 10 stars if I could.

We have been using Thompson’s Auto Repair for the past few months. In that time they have been absolutely wonderful to work with. They honestly and clearly explain any proposed work to be done. They have worked to get as many repairs done under warranty as possible to help us manage costs. They always get my vehicle back to me as quickly as possible and keep me apprised of any recommended services that might be needed in the days ahead so that I am not blindsided. I have been getting cars worked on for more than 45 years. This is by far the best service center I have ever been to. Donny (Owner) made a point to come out and meet me in the waiting room and introduced himself and talked about his shop and operations. The service included inspection, battery replacement, oil and filter change, brake line flush all of which was done at a reasonable price and time frame. I give them the very highest recommendation. Our day was ruined when my friend’s car wouldn’t start. We were 50 miles from home. Luckily, we weren’t far from Thompson Auto Repair! From the delightful reception to the prompt, professional service, both my friend and I were reminded how truly nice people can be. Our problem was quickly diagnosed, the part was obtained and the car was fixed before we knew it. In the meantime, we sat in the very pleasant waiting room, watching tv. They even had snacks for us! I’d give these folks 5 stars for their hospitality, along with the excellent service they provide. They’ve definitely made 2 customers for life.

Best shop in the Culpeper are!! Donny and the crew there are the best! Flexible with your schedule and affordable. They fully review the issue and give the best and strait forward answer and what needs to be fixed. No jerking you around! I have been to Thompson Auto about 5 times this year for A/C issues, crank shaft sensor/ traction control check light issues, oil changes and they also do safety/inspections to get your yearly tags renewed. I would recommend this shop to everyone!
