Tfc company is trash!!!! They miss trash and break trash cans because the driver don't know how to use the claw on the truck!!! just to tell you call the company for a replacement that's crazy!! Worst service ever!!!!!!
I signed up for their service immediately once our county discontinued recycling. Things used to be great but last couple of months my recycling is never picked up on designated day. I always have to can multiple times. Last week when they didn’t pick up, I decided to cancel. When I called to cancel they said I had to put the request in writing with the reason why I was canceling. I explained my frustration via email and they just emailed back that my service was canceled, not another word. I emailed back that I found it amusing that they wanted to know why I was canceling but didn’t acknowledge the poor service. They also didn’t answer that email.
Their website and process for getting more containers is horribly outdated. It’s 2024, you would think we could fill out a form online and process payment to get new containers. No, you have to fill out the form and *mail* with money or check (no cards??) the form to their office.
I dropped the form off with exact bills at their office and was told 5-10 business days to get a new container (after I asked - I would have thought that would be given voluntarily). That timeline passed with no communication from them on when to expect my new container. When I reached out, I was told they’d check into it. I had to reach out again to get a status update and got some attitude. No apologies, no accommodations. There is no aspect of customer service here.
I gave two stars cus most of the time they pick up on schedule even though they have damaged my regular container…
Another scheduled recycling day for the Elmhurst area of Norfolk and again TFC IS A NO SHOW! They ask you to email with more information, but that does nothing. How about they just do their job and pickup the recycling. Now it says they are closed until Monday. So again our cans get to sit on the curb until they decide to show up.
TFC has been removing both trash and recyclebles from the trash bins at the Chick Fil-A located in Indian River Rd, Va Beach for many years. And for most of the time they would do the pick up of the waste after 8AM since the bins are located about 30 yards from a residential neighborhood (Lake James). However, for the past couple of years, they have been picking up the trash just after 7AM (IAW with City Code). Recycles are usually picked up around 10-11AM (and that's definitely more reasonable). However, this evening (8th of June) the trash was picked up at 1AM!! This of course has awakened numerous homes located in the Lake James Neighborhood. TFC (along with Chick Fil A) is certainly not being a "good neighbor" in this instance.
Update: Now (Feb 2024) TFC is picking up trash at 4:30AM...it has gone from bad to worse.
They are the worst. We had a business account and we got rid of their dumpster and we kept getting billed for it 6 months later. It ended up in collections, we paid it so as just be be rid of them. Will never ever use them again. They suck
I want to Commend this company and mostly their Drivers for doing an Excellent job of picking up the Recycling from our neighborhood. I have watched them go Above and Beyond picking up Recycling items just left on the ground. Sadly my neighborhood is No longer Recycling so it won't be pretty. TFC didn’t pick up my trash and it was out the day before. I have to contact waste management and then they send an email to a tfc supervisor to create a work order. I contacted them and they said there’s nothing they can do, waste management has to contact a tfc supervisor. I can’t talk to the supervisor or create a work order myself because waste management has to. I left my trash out front for 2 weeks for them to never collect it and get it according to their scheduled time.

We live off Crittenden rd and have called alot with them saying they will sked a pickup…this has been over 3 months, even with a sked time to pick up. Worst company ever! From now on recycle will go in the trash since this company does not seem to care AT all. Someone else should get this contract, this should be reported to the Governor!, and it will be! Your company needs to be replaced with someone that cares!

They skip weeks. The last time was for a month and a half.
This company picks up for the City of Norfolk, that is unless it rains. Then we are forced to leave our recycling cans out overnight where a lot of times they get blown over in storms. I could understand if this was happening during a major storm, but this is every time it rains on a scheduled pickup day.
Has a hard time getting a response from my email, but thankfully, I got Tammy on the line. She had an enthusiastic attitude that eliminated my irritation. She did in ten minutes what hadn't been in three weeks.

Seems like this company goes out of there way to receive bad review points. Here you can see one of their drivers camping out in the left lane causing traffic problems as we have to merge with right lane traffic to get around. I'm just wondering who the genius was that came up with the idea of placing hundreds of dollars in advertising on a truck and then purposely disobeying the law and placing families in danger to show off who you are.
They KILL your bins. A neighbor left moving boxes that were flattened and tied. Truck left it right there. Sloppy work. Find another company that actually does what they're supposed to do. Spread the word. They are horrible!
They don't even deserve one star. Customer service , none that anyone wants to deal with.

8/30/22. Update I drove to the Recycling center to deposit my recycling. The recycling dumpsters have ALL been removed and landscaping has been put in it's place. After speaking with an employee, (please read my comments below about people not following directions), he commented that most of the items in the dumpsters were NOT recyclable materials. I'm extremely disappointed, but not surprised. The daily wasted employee time, the funds to dispose of the trash, mattresses, metal, hazardous materials, etc. may have put a huge dent in their yearly budget that may go towards repairs, salary, machinery, etc. But now thanks to those selfish individuals, many have to find alternative areas to take their recycling and hope no one else spoils it for those who have been recycling for years, or those who want to start.
There isn't a recycling set up where I live. It was awesome to find this DIY recycling set up across the street from the main building with 2 recycling dumpsters. It's up the street on right, at the entrance to employee parking. (Please pull as close to the curb as you can). There are clear instructions on the dumpsters for acceptable recycling. My garbage has been reduced dramatically. I've noticed my trips there, how many don't pay attention to what they toss in, or how some treat it as a regular garbage dumpster. Garbage and trash (all things deemed not recyable (such as mattresses and frames, metal poles and wood), can be taken to the Chesapeake Transfer Station. They don't recycle those things.
You can also call and ask what they accept. If you are one of the lucky ones to get your recycling picked up at home, they have a perk program on their web site.

Did not fulfill recycle contract with citizens of City of Chesapeake,VA. 6 weeks before contract was up stopped picking up. We were told to leave can out and they would get to them in time. 6 weeks and no pick up. Our neighborhood and city looks disgraceful. We need the room for recycle in the can. When you do not empty the blue cans, we have to out twice as much in our city trach cans of which we do nor have room for. Where are we suppose to put this extra trash?????
Do not trust this company. They claim it is because of staffing issues as to why they do not pick up, all the other cities that are not ending their contracts with them are getting picked up in a timely manner.

Well as all know, city of Chesapeake ended their contract so now we are subjected to putting our bins out for weeks and begging for COC to empty them. Never trust a company that can’t carry out their contract. Clearly some management restructuring is needed
Since the city of Chesapeake announced it would not be renewing their contract with TFC, TFC has stopped picking up on a timely basis. Our recycling day was May 27 and as of today June 5th, our can has still not been emptied.
Our cans were suppose to be picked up last Wednesday. Next Wednesdays us our next pick up, they still have not picked up since last Wednesday. Emailed them and still not recieve an answer on why they refused pick up in my entire neighborhood when I have been seen trucks in other neighborhoods nearby getting picked up on time. Rediculous. The city of VB charges us each month for trash pick up, well I believe TFC owes us some credit on our bills for times they do not pick up when they are suppose to. This has been happening each time its recycle week. Not just this week. Tempting to start just throwing recycleables in to the regular trash, just so we won't have trash just hanging around for days after the schedule pick up.
Ray V. (I hope I read his name tag right) the service tech for TFC is an asset to their company and I hope they know that. He is very kind and goes above and beyond. Yall need to treat him better than you treat your customers. I hope his supervisor reads this and knows he has an employee of the year working for him. He is the one who gets the 5 stars not TFC.
As for TFC id give them 0 if it were possible. I have nothing really nice to say about TFC as they do not provide the service that is advertised for the City of Chesapsake. They come when they want. Supposed to be every other thursday they sometimes show up friday or like last week not at all. Its a shame.
Since the City of Chesapeake annoucing that they are doing away with recycle TFC has missed numerous pick up dates. For example thursday 5/19 was recycle day and here we are late tuesday 5/31, 13 days later and stil no recycle pick up. Tfc supposedly for the first time ever is experiencing a week delay for chesapeake but only a day or 2 in vb where my mother in law is. 13 days and almost time for another week of service and still they have not serviced the cans. What an embarrassment
They only pick up on the scheduled day every other week (sometimes as much as 3 days late and only after repeated complaints). They blame overfilled cans for the failure to pick up ANY cans in the neighborhood, even when the condo association ensures every can is closed.
I emailed to "accounting" to cancel my service and the email was ignored. I emailed again to an individual in accounting and received a reply telling me I needed to email to a different address. I emailed to that address and did a follow up call to customer service and was told the address I was given was wrong and I should email to a different address. All of this after going to their website and trying to cancel through their customer portal and looking for contact info to request canceling.
They are contracted through the City of Chesapeake for recycling and they are the laziest. They told the city they wouldn't pick up our can because it was overflowing. It's so light that we will be just tossing everything in the regular can. I hope you guys aren't wondering why you keep losing contracts.
I’ve asked before if they just leave the trashcans just thrown about and the guy said that he doesn’t take care of the trashcans. So what is his job? If not to take the trash and place the trash back without having it open on its side? Shouldn’t it go back up and standing? We don’t put the trashcans on their side to begin with so why leave it that way? Have some integrity in your work. And if this company isn’t paying someone well enough maybe they need to with all the money we pay them.
We use this company for our community pool and we called to confirm pickup before the busy holiday weekend. They confirmed they would be here on the pickup date and we also scheduled an additional pickup to follow an extremely busy weekend.
Nobody showed up the day of or the day following and we are left with overflowing bins of trash going into the busiest weekend of the year. So disappointing, we will be happy to give our money to another pickup service!
On Thursday 07/16/20. My recycle bin was not completely emptied.
The driver left half of the recycle contents in the recycle bin. I am disatisified because we recycle a lot . Now we have no other choice but to start putting recycable items in the city trash can to be collected.

I wanted to let you know that the gentlemen who pick up my recycling are doing a very good job. I have the backdoor service and they are thorough in the job they do and return the cans with the lids on top in an orderly fashion. And they never leave any pieces on the ground.
