Update March 10, 2026 (about 2 weeks later): Management reached out via email, acknowledged the shortcomings of the stay, and said "In your case, we clearly fell short." They offered no compensation of any kind. So in turn, I asked directly for a partial refund, and they never responded (that was 11 days ago). I will never return or visit any other Omni. ------------ Overall, we had a good time celebrating my wife’s birthday and especially enjoyed the skiing, the Serenity Garden hot springs, and our massages. The staff were consistently friendly, professional, and easy to interact with, which we truly appreciated. That said, there are a few important things future guests should be aware of. This is a very family-heavy resort with many children present, and noise travels easily into the rooms. There are noticeable gaps around the doors that allow light and hallway sound to come through, and we regularly heard kids running and yelling at various hours. Additionally, the mattress and especially the pillows felt lower in quality than expected. If you prefer firmer support, consider bringing your own pillow. Several operational issues also affected our stay. There was a resort-wide power outage that was resolved fairly quickly and did not impact us too much. However, the following day our room lost power and could not be restored, leaving us without heat for several hours before we were relocated. While we appreciated the upgraded room, it was disruptive to move unexpectedly, and the new room had a noticeable red stain on the carpet. Prior to arrival, our confirmed spa reservations were lost in the system despite us having confirmation emails. We were contacted to rebook, but the same time slots were no longer available, forcing us to adjust our itinerary. Once at the spa, additional issues continued. The hot tub was cold, as were the sauna and even the steam room in the locker area, which was disappointing given the premium positioning of the spa experience. During our couples massage, the background music repeatedly cut in and out, which disrupted the relaxation aspect of the treatment. Staff acknowledged that this is a known, ongoing issue that has not yet been resolved, which was surprising given the price point. Our original “Deluxe King Mountain View” room was also a letdown. The window placement made the room feel dark, and the only visible view required standing in the corner, where we mostly saw the roof rather than the mountains. The description felt misleading. Dining was inconsistent. My beef entrée at Audubon on Saturday night was undercooked to the point of being raw despite ordering it medium. In contrast, the steak at Jefferson’s Restaurant the following evening was excellent. The biggest concern overall was pricing relative to value. Nearly every aspect of the experience felt significantly overpriced, including the room, dining, and spa services. An $850 charge for an 80-minute couples massage felt excessive for what was delivered. It also felt tacky to charge a parking fee at a resort that already commands premium pricing across nearly every aspect of the stay. While we did enjoy certain parts of the weekend, the overall experience simply did not align with the >$5,000 cost of our stay, and ultimately it did not feel worth that level of spend. For that reason, we would likely choose to stay elsewhere in the future.

Our stay at The Omni Homestead was nothing short of extraordinary from check-in to check-out. The property itself is one of the most beautiful places we have ever visited — the history, the scenery, and the overall atmosphere make it truly special. But what made this weekend unforgettable wasn’t just the resort — it was the people. The staff completely transformed our stay into one of the best getaway experiences we’ve ever had. From the moment we arrived, Steve, Brian, and Tanner at valet welcomed us with such warmth and kindness that they quickly felt more like friends than staff. Their hospitality set the tone for the entire weekend. Our time at the spa with Shareese was incredible — relaxing, thoughtful, and exactly what you hope for when you visit a resort like this. Amy at the pool bar made every visit fun and memorable, and Warren, who kindly shuttled us to and from our dinner reservations, was so friendly and genuine that it felt like we were being taken care of by family. The dining throughout the resort was truly top tier. Every meal felt like an experience in itself. By the end of the weekend, we didn’t just feel like guests — we felt like we had found a little family here. That kind of hospitality is rare and something we will never forget. We are already looking forward to our next visit and cannot wait to bring our kids so they can experience the magic of this place too.

We had an incredibe time. Heydon in sporting clay was the most incredible guy. He was so patient with us. The entire hotel was incredible. But Heydon in sports shooting was the absolute best guy we had help us.

This is a beautiful, but expensive resort. This was my first trip and upon arrival, things went south quickly. After checking into our room, we quickly determined the heat didn't work (it was 59 degrees in the room). We called maintenance and they came to inspect. They worked for about 30 minutes and we asked to be moved as we hadn't eaten dinner and my kids were hungry. The front desk declined initially amd said they had no more rooms, and offered us space heaters and blankets for our stay. Needless to say, having spent the amount of money per night for our room only to be left with space heaters/blankets was unacceptable. While looking for an electrical outlet, we found old popcorn, socks, and drink cups along the base of the beds, which we showed to a manager. Once maintenance advised the heat could not be fixed, I went to the front desk and complained again. They magically found another room and we moved. We weren't able to make any reservations for dinner anywhere, which is my fault as I didn't know I needed to. However, I did speak with a hospitality/reservations person while making the trip reservations and they should have advised this info in my opinion. The attractions and things to do are extensive, but again, all require reservations long in advance. For the money, the room and chaos up front was subpar. Everything costs a great deal at this resort and I knew that going into it. But, advised a first experience, it wasn't great. I may try going back at some point.

Our recent stay at the Omni Homestead Resort was deeply disappointing and far below the standard we expected given the resort’s reputation and cost. The most significant issue was that we had no hot water in our bathroom for over 48 hours—essentially the entirety of our stay. We were initially told the problem was due to the room not having been used in a while, which did not seem like an acceptable explanation for a fundamental amenity failure. Rather than proactively communicating with us, I had to repeatedly call the front desk for updates. At no point were we offered a different room, nor were we offered a refund or even a partial accommodation for the inconvenience. Given the amount we paid for these rooms, this lack of urgency and service recovery was especially frustrating. In addition, the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night, significantly disrupting our sleep. Our scheduled golf round was canceled without any prior notification of the course closure, and when we reserved the golf simulator, the assigned employee never showed up to operate the session. Upon arrival at the hot springs, we were informed that our confirmed reservation could not be located. We heard multiple staff members mention that they were extremely busy due to the holiday weekend, but while we understand higher demand during peak times, that should not serve as an excuse for lapses in basic service, communication, and accountability. What was most disappointing was the cumulative lack of ownership and meaningful accommodation for these repeated issues, which left us feeling that the level of service did not reflect the premium price we paid.

Update: management reached out and made it right* We booked the Omni Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, VA for our honeymoon from February 14–21 and ended up leaving early on the 17th because the experience was beyond disappointing. To start, our room was not clean. The bathroom clearly had not been properly cleaned when we arrived and the door latch was hanging off making it a security issue. We complained and were offered a room change, but the second room did not look any better. For a 4-star resort, this is completely unacceptable — especially for a honeymoon stay. We chose this property because the website markets it as a luxury, romantic getaway packed with winter activities. We even pre-booked a 3-hour Gorge Hike and planned to schedule more when we arrived. Once onsite, we quickly realized how misleading that was. Our hike was canceled due to ice, yet no one notified us. We only found out after going to the concierge desk ourselves. Horseback riding was also canceled. Many other activities were scheduled at random, inconvenient times or not running at all. Dining was another major letdown. The website advertises multiple restaurant options, but most were closed on Sunday, leaving us with barely any choices. We ate at Jefferson’s Taproom and waited 15 minutes just to be acknowledged. When the waitress finally came over, she acted like we were inconveniencing her. After we finished our soup, the empty bowls sat in front of us for another 15 minutes until a manager happened to walk by and clear them. The food was overpriced and the service was terrible. Because we refused to go back there Monday night, we literally left the resort and walked to a brewery downtown just to have an enjoyable dinner. That alone says everything — why are we paying 4-star resort prices but feeling forced to eat off property? We also checked out the arcade and bowling area that’s advertised online. It was dark, musty, and partially under construction. It looked run-down and uninviting — nothing like what’s shown on the website. Customer service across the board was poor. Aside from David at the front desk, who was the only helpful employee we encountered, everyone else seemed to have an attitude. Staff acted like any question we asked was a burden, and we never once felt welcomed. The activities concierge was especially unhelpful — giving one-word answers instead of guidance or solutions. No one explains where to go or what to bring when you book activities. The entire system feels disorganized and chaotic. The atmosphere was the final straw. Kids were everywhere — running through hallways screaming, laying on the lobby floor rolling around. It felt like a Disney resort, not a romantic destination. Monday evening, the only thing happening at the resort was a showing of Finding Nemo in the movie theatre, which really sums up the environment. This is clearly a resort catered toward children and families, not couples looking for a quiet honeymoon escape. Ice skating also closed early (by 8 PM), eliminating yet another activity we wanted to do. We informed the resort multiple times before arrival that we were celebrating our honeymoon, and not a single thing was acknowledged. No gesture, no upgrade, nothing. For what’s marketed as a luxury 4-star resort, this felt like a 2-star experience at best. Between the cleanliness issues, canceled activities, closed restaurants, rude service, unwelcoming staff, and chaotic, kid-dominated environment, it was impossible to relax — which is the entire point of a honeymoon. We were genuinely excited to stay here, which makes this even more frustrating. The website sells you a beautiful, upscale experience, but the reality does not match it at all. Save your money and go somewhere else — especially if you’re looking for a romantic getaway.

Little to do unless you're a couple that has small children and just need someplace to be to fill the time and don't expect to have much fun, while married couples just seem to be trying to tolerate each other. Slow and disorganized valet, locked out of room around noon despite late checkout, no known bar before 11am so BYOB if you need to get a buzz going to sit around and chat, bar had limited beer options with the few good options tapped out, etc. Would recommend if on a long road trip and just need someplace to stay for one night. Elderly and people with young kids seems to be the target customer so it might be good for them also.

We checked in on January 18th to celebrate our daughter's 16th birthday with friends. It was a special weekend of fun and memories. We have been coming to the Homestead for over 20 years. We still remember the days when the hotel was privately owned and not a part of a large chain. We don't love the new corporate feel and are so grateful for the long time employees who remember what it was like in the good old days and strive to provide the same customer service they have always known. A few thoughts from our stay: 1. We loved the special activities over the weekend of music bingo and silent disco. I think the staff could do a better job of pumping up the events so they are better attended. 2. Because you had so many special activities and a full house --you HAVE TO have more options for dining AND the staff to accommodate the crowds. I spent the entire evening running back and forth to the Jefferson Taproom to get on the list. Because they don't take reservations and everything else was booked----I had to continue to pop back to attempt to time our wait in line for after Bingo ended and to allow for enough time to get back to Silent Disco. That's ridiculous but my goal was to make the weekend fun for the girls---but it could have been more enjoyable for all of us. Dinner service was terrible and the kids missed a lot of the disco. We hung back to pay the bill and sent them on their way. We found the service to be similar when we were there over the summer. 3. The Arcade! Either take it back under your control or get rid of it! It is a complete rip off. So many of the games and bowling don't work. You have to make sure to read the signs posted that you will have to scan a code and reach out to another company to retrieve your loss funds. The Omni Homestead will not help you. 4, Breakfast Buffet highlight! The breakfast buffet was a fun treat for the girls. (We of course remember when the buffet was located in the main ballroom). Nothing will ever top those days. We met Roderick as we waited for our omelets and waffles. It was fun to talk with someone who remembered the Homestead as we do from many years ago. I shared with him our frustration regarding dinner the night before and said I would be sharing our frustration with management. We want to continue our tradition for visiting the Homestead but it's getting harder with the price and lack of quality. Roderick very quietly spoke with our server who made an adjustment to our breakfast bill. His thoughtfulness and desire to encourage us to come back meant a lot. He even provided a to go container for the doughnuts that our girls just couldn't fit in. It is your long time staff like Roderick who keep the spirit of The Homestead Resort alive and well. Anthony is also always a highlight. His welcoming smile and love for his job is contagious. Please take good care of your long time employees---they are what make the Homestead special.

We were genuinely excited to stay at this hotel and arrived with very high expectations, especially given the price point. Unfortunately, from check-in through our spa experience, the service consistently fell far below what we paid for. We were originally told we could check into our room at 2:00 p.m. Due to travel delays, we didn’t arrive until around 6:30 p.m.—over four hours after the stated check-in time. To our surprise, our room was still not ready. When we asked the front desk associate, Amber, for an estimate on how much longer it might be, she was dismissive and simply shrugged. We then tried to ask about spa details and activities for the following day, and she either didn’t know or made no effort to find out. The interaction felt indifferent and unhelpful, which was disappointing as a first impression. Shortly after, we received a text notification that our room was ready. When we informed Amber, she said she could try to check us in now this was overall hardly the level of professionalism one expects from a high-end hotel. The next morning, we went early to the spa to enjoy the hot springs and amenities before our scheduled treatments. At check-in, we were told that our spa appointments had been booked for February 2nd instead of January 2nd. I had personally called weeks in advance to book these treatments, and at the time, the staff member confirmed they could see and link our hotel reservation. This was clearly a booking error on the spa’s end. Jordan, at the spa front desk, offered us either a massage or an alternative treatment. When we asked what those treatments included, she was unable to explain either one. We were especially disappointed that the seasonal cranberry fig treatment we had originally booked was suddenly “impossible” to accommodate that day. Ultimately, we had no choice but to accept a different treatment, which forced my husband and me to go at separate times and much later in the day than planned. Once inside, the spa itself was just okay. The showers were cold, several areas felt worn down, and one shower head was visibly coming out of the wall. To add to the frustration, after my husband finished his treatment, the therapist mentioned that they could have done the original treatment we wanted—directly contradicting what we were told at the front desk. Overall, for the cost of this hotel and its spa services, the level of service was extremely disappointing. Mistakes happen, but the lack of communication, accountability, and basic hospitality made this stay feel nowhere near worth the premium price. We expected a luxury experience and instead left feeling frustrated and undervalued.

Beautiful property, but too many disappointments for the price. We were really excited to stay at the Omni Homestead Resort, but our experience fell far short of expectations, especially given the price. We specifically requested a room with a fireplace when booking and spoke with multiple resort agents about it. When we arrived, we learned there’s a “guarantee package” we were never told about, meaning our request wasn’t honored. Had we been informed, we would have booked differently. We also reserved two suites with connecting living rooms, but only received one, which created unnecessary inconvenience for our group. The biggest issue, however, was the hot water. Five out of eleven people in our party had to take cold showers, and when we raised this with staff, the response was: “There are a lot of people using showers right now.” That explanation is unacceptable for a resort at this price point. To make matters worse, the communal showers by the pool also only had cold water, so there truly wasn’t a workable alternative. Our horseback riding excursion, which we had planned and were really looking forward to, was also canceled the same day. The saving grace of our stay was the shooting range. Hayden was fantastic: professional, patient, and made the experience genuinely enjoyable. It was the one part of our trip that truly felt worthy of a high-end resort. Overall, while the property itself is beautiful, the communication issues, unmet room expectations, canceled activities, and repeated hot-water problems made the stay far less enjoyable than it should have been. For the price, we expected better reliability and customer care.

I had not visited The Homestead in almost 15 years, so I was super-excited when my daughter planned a weekend trip there. The renovations look great, especially the Spa--the mineral springs and relaxation areas are amazing! There was a ladybug problem in the room, which the hotel did know about as they left a note about it under the glass of table where the tv was sitting. The room was lovely. The elevator to the spa did not work and there was a noticeable sewer smell on the lower levels. We met a couple who were changing rooms due to the odor. The spa treatment we booked could not be accommodated due to a hot water issue in the spa; however, we did get an alternate spa treatment and a discount. The service is top-notch! No matter the situation, every staff member was personable and helpful. We met several helpful staff while dining at the restaurant. The location of the resort is absolutely gorgeous. It's calm, cozy, and relaxing.

I debated between a 3 and a 4, but the exceptional service from the staff ultimately pushed my rating to a 4. We stayed at the Omni Homestead over the Thanksgiving holidays, and here’s a breakdown of our experience: Pros: Outstanding service: Every staff member we encountered was incredibly friendly and helpful. Even the other guests were warm and welcoming! Anytime we needed assistance, the staff went above and beyond. Beautiful property: The resort is stunning and steeped in history. The Christmas decorations were some of the most impressive I’ve seen. Top-tier spa: As someone who frequents spas, I was very impressed with the facilities here—they were truly exceptional. Cons: Holiday crowds: This might be on me for not anticipating it, but the Thanksgiving crowd was massive. It felt a bit overwhelming at times, and most restaurants and coffee shops had long lines. I’d highly recommend making reservations in advance and considering room service during peak times, especially since dining options in town are limited. Luggage delay: There seemed to be a miscommunication between the front desk and the bell staff. Our luggage wasn’t delivered for over two hours, and when my husband checked, it had been left unattended at the front of the hotel. Cigarette smoke: This was the biggest downside for me. While I believe the hotel is non-smoking, our room had windows that opened (without screens), and it seemed like someone in a near room was smoking out their window. The smell was strong and unpleasant every night, which really impacted our comfort.

We’ve been coming here for years with friends. It’s become a really nice tradition for all of us to do every year after Thanksgiving with our family’s. Because of our continued patronage I have noticed more and more repetitive things over the years. Like how the bathroom trash cans always have a bunch of gunk in the and how the grout is always pretty dirty near the corner and tub of almost every room. Other wise there is really nothing to complain about the rooms. I love the natural lighting from the windows and the ice box. We always thoroughly enjoy the down stairs coffee shop, tea time and outdoor hot springs. I also really enjoy the indoor pool and always go late night swimming with my best friend. Im so happy that y’all have redone the pool, the original state it was in always made us think it was going to collapse on us. ? One suggestion I would make for the gym though, PLEASE do something about the window looking directly out to the pool. I get it’s supposed to be a nice view for people, but all it does is give people in the gym (usually men) to see people swimming. An example of this being: Me and my best friend went swimming and there was a guy on the treadmill the entire time we were swimming. (About 20-30 minutes) Note that he also only got off about 5 mins after we left. I noticed because we hung out in the waiting room for our other family. Kinda creepy, please do something about that. Other than that minor inconvenience I love everything about this hotel! Highly recommend because in the winter time it usually snows. Wonderful ice skating rink as well! I also absolutely love the effort they put into adding all these beautiful, different color Christmas trees around the entire hotel around Christmas time. Highly appreciate the effort guys!

Beautifully renovated rooms. Staff is well trained and friendly. We found it very busy as there are over 400 rooms, good shops, and excellent dining. Visitors and guests mostly ignore the modest dress code. Resort is located far off the beaten path, but we'll worth a visit.

Every staff member we encountered was courteous, though they were under staffed. For such an isolated property, the on-site restaurant and in-room dining hours were very limited. The room we were in (likely due to it being in a conference block) were just ok but nothing unforgivable. Other rooms advertised at this property appear to be much nicer and well appointed. The layout of the lobby level is vast with the original style and feel of this grand property well preserved. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to fully explore the venue but we plan to on a future visit.

This is a wonderful hotel. There are plenty of fun activities, and the food was delightful. The biggest detractors was the price and added fees. The resort will try to get every dime from you, including a mandatory 40 dollar a night valet. Mini golf, not included, nicer spa pool, 80 a day, arcade? Yeah pay for that too. The rooms were clean, the bathrooms inside however were very average and not that nice.

My husband and I came for a wedding. Let me start by saying that the front desk staff at this hotel is amazing. I interacted with Kata and David, and both were incredibly helpful and kind. That’s the positive. The negative… the rooms are not clean. We had two rooms, and neither one was properly cleaned. Our first room had a needle sticking up from the floor, stained bed sheets, and dirty water cups that made it clear the room had not been serviced. In the second room, the shower was unclean, with someone else’s hair left in the soap holder and a buildup of soap that had simply been covered with a floor towel. The air return looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in years, and it was directly where we were supposed to hang our clothing for a black-tie event. To top it off, I ordered a Caesar salad and fries from room service because I was hungry. I paid $46 for the meal, and when they prepared my three-ingredient Caesar salad, they didn’t even bother to add the cheese—so it arrived as just lettuce and croutons. (The photo shows exactly how it came.) The hotel was apologetic and gave us the daily resort fee back which equalled $51.

My first impression on the omni Homestead Resort was one of pure luxury and beauty. The grounds of the resort themselves are gorgeous and surrounded by trees. We went during the Fall and it was stunning. The breakfast buffet was phenomenal with plenty of good options and an omelette/waffle bar to justify the price. The staff and waiters were all very welcoming and kind. The only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is that the hotel did not appear to be knowledgeable of amex hotel collection benefits such as the complimentary breakfast. I also noticed at the end of our stay that we were charged an additional resort fee of $49 a night as well as a charge for valet parking even though I was never told whether or not there was an option to park on my own. I have stayed at other luxury hotels with less hidden fees so this was a bit disappointing for us. However, they did charge my car for me whenever I asked which was appreciated and I have to also give a huge shout out to the concierge team. I mentioned to them that my wife and I had were on a mini honeymoon and when we came back for the day from activities, we returned to a room covered in rose pedals. Needless to say, they are very accommodating and I would still recommend staying at this beautiful hotel! Also the robes in the room are amazing

This place is amazing! The only regret I have is eating dinner at the Audubon restaurant for dinner. (Please note: the breakfast buffet at the Audubon restaurant is AMAZING!). For dinner though, the food is tasty, but it is VERY small portions. 4-5oz is the average for the entrees. I left hungry after spending a lot - I had to order room service afterwards. Consider yourself warmed! Otherwise, this place is wonderful and I would absolutely come back!

⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4-Star Review for The Omni Homestead Resort We just returned from a one-night stay at The Omni Homestead for my 30th birthday, and overall, it was a beautiful and memorable experience. The property is absolutely stunning this time of year, and there is no shortage of activities! There’s plenty to explore and enjoy. One of my favorite touches was the complimentary 3pm tea time with pastries and hot tea or cocoa. Such a charming experience. We also loved the variety of on-site restaurants, and our room was clean with a very comfortable bed. The valet team deserves a special mention—they were outstanding. Friendly, professional, and full of personality. I also loved the puzzles and books available for guests; it made the resort feel warm and welcoming. Martha’s Market had some of the best coffee I’ve ever had, truly a standout. I also booked a spa massage, and I was so impressed with the entire experience. At first, the pricing felt high, but after spending several hours enjoying the amenities included, I realized it was absolutely worth it. Next time I will dedicate an entire day to the spa because I had no idea just how much there was to enjoy. The only part of our stay that fell short was the overnight service. I woke up at 5am needing water and realizing we forgot a toothbrush for my husband. I called the front desk, and although they assured me someone would bring the items, they never arrived. I called again an hour later—another apology, but still no delivery. Because we have newborn twins and three other young children at home, uninterrupted sleep was our top priority on this getaway, and I stayed awake so I wouldn’t miss the knock on the door. Unfortunately, the items didn’t arrive until around 9am, after my 4th phone call to complain and by then the morning rest we desperately needed was gone. We had already gone down to buy waters because we could not wait. The front desk assured me they would speak with a manager and offer something to make up for the inconvenience, but nothing was ever provided at checkout. I never expect compensation, but when something is promised, it’s disappointing when it isn’t followed through. Aside from that one issue, we genuinely enjoyed our stay, and there is so much about the resort that is truly exceptional. With a bit more consistency in guest service, especially during overnight hours, this would easily be a perfect five-star experience.

Stayed at this beautiful hotel recently for a business conference. The staff was friendly and attentive. The hotel is gorgeous both inside and outside to include the grounds. The history tour at 10am was a nice way to learn more about the substantial past of the property. All conference rooms were spacious and there were many of them. My room was in the south building and was large with a great bathroom in a seperate room. Closet had a safe and the balcony was plenty large. The cleanliness of the room could be improved to include food chunks on the ground and hair in the bathroom. The tub also did not drain well and when showering was standing in ankle deep water quickly. There was plentiful gym equipment and the indoor pool was large and again gorgeous. Early in the morning after a night of guests there though had trash, broken glass, and alcohol containers strewn about the pool area. Nearby the Bachova beer company was walkable out of the spa entrance and was a great find with nice staff and reasonable prices. Depending on what income bracket you are in the food and drink prices at the hotel you may find very uncomfortable. However, this place was a nice experience. The random book shelves in hallways was nice and many places to sit and relax around the complex. The town and nearby towns are quite small but that is part of the charm of getting away at this place.

Incredibly disappointing! Despite making dinner reservations a month in advance and staying at the resort, we were told two nights in a row that there were “no tables available” at the Jefferson and that we’d need to wait until 9pm (two hours!) to be seated. On the second night, only after speaking to a manager, they did honor our reservation from the email I showed them directly from the hotel Concierge team. When we were seated, I looked around to see no less than 15 empty tables! One would think they wouldn’t want to turn away business at the door!

Unorganized chaos! We arrived early afternoon, excited for a mid-week stay to avoid crowds, only to wait seven full hours for our final room. We had paid more for a “room with a view” which is specifically described on the website as having “landscape and vista views”. While we were unable to check into our room when we arrived, we were able to go to the shooting club (the only highlight of the entire stay – Hayden is great). When we returned over two hours later, our luggage was still sitting outside at the valet carport! Our room was ready, sans bags – finally – however, our “view” was of a fire escape! Not what was expected. So back down to the front desk we went. We were told we’d be moved to a room with a real view, but again that new room was not ready. So off we went to wander the property while waiting for a text/call that never came. After another two hours we returned to the front desk because it was pushing dinner time, only to be told that our bags had already been moved – we had received no text/call. The room itself? Certainly not worth the almost $600 a night. The bedroom was fine, though we’ve stayed in nicer Marriotts or Holiday Inns quite frankly. The bathroom was fine, but pull the shower curtain closed and it was covered in mysterious stains. As were the two resort robes in the closet that we were too disgusted to touch! When mentioned to the manager at check out, I was informed they were “having difficulty with their laundry service”. Gross!

What a hassle! We booked our room and a series of resort activities over a month in advance, which unfortunately was necessary with all the back and forth we had to do over multiple days by phone and email trying to confirm our reservations and schedule. Many of the activities are only at certain times, which is not listed anywhere on the website, so don’t bother trying to make an itinerary. I spent several hours on the phone and was finally able to book at the shooting club, zip lining, the warm springs, and brews and views. The morning before our trip out, however, I received an email saying zip lining was no longer available. When my husband called to book something in its place, he was told that shooting too should have never been booked because they were hosting a tournament – we had previously confirmed our time slot would not interfere with the tournament and had been approved. Between my husband and myself, we spent nearly another four hours via email and phone with multiple people between Activities and the resort Concierge reconfirming our stay and list of activities. The Activities themselves were subpar. Our favorite activity of our stay was going off-site to a local horse riding spot for a two hour private ride with a wonderful guide that cost us less for the both of us than it would have cost for one of us to ride for only an hour at the Omni. The much-touted Brews and Views turned out to be a tractor ride through the woods on a freezing night with no amenities on the wagon itself, the driver speeding along at 25mph, no views, and canned White Claws from the little grab and go. It felt less like a curated experience and more like a real estate tour of the property’s owners’ club condos. Other “included” resort activities – mini golf, the lazy river, the wine tasting room at its listed hours – were all closed during all three days of our stay with no explanation. Incredibly disappointing!

My husband and I chose the Omni Homestead for our mini-moon last weekend, and even though we were a little hesitant after reading some mixed reviews, we are so glad we decided to go. From the moment we arrived, the service was truly exceptional. We were greeted with glasses of champagne at check-in, and when we mentioned to Nicole at the front desk that we were celebrating our mini-moon, she surprised us with a complimentary bottle of cava, truffle, and a handwritten note in our room. Such a thoughtful touch! We spent a relaxing day at the spa, which was beautiful and serene, and later enjoyed cocktails in the Presidential Lounge where Ed was an incredible bartender—friendly, attentive, and fun to talk to. We did the Virginia Wine Experience, and had fun trying out local wines. Aoife, our server, was absolutely delightful—so kind, knowledgeable, and genuinely warm. Although it was a little crowded because of Fall Fest, we still felt like we received personalized attention at every turn. Every staff member we encountered went out of their way to make us feel special. We were honestly sad to leave and wished we had more time to explore everything the resort has to offer. The grounds are absolutely stunning and well kept. If you’re on the fence like we were, don’t hesitate—book the trip. The Omni Homestead made our mini-moon unforgettable, and we can’t wait to return!

Food at their restaurant wasn’t horrible but was overpriced. Single cheeseburger and plate of penne Alfredo with no protein, and a slice of cake came out to over 90$ before tip or tax. The cheapest room in the resort is over 500$ a night and the rooms are averaging more in the 1,200-3,000$ range. I was told a similar report by more than one local who lives in the town. They do not like the locals, and are very hostile towards them coming in or near the resort or restaurants located in the resort unless they are an employee. Locals say the resort has artificially brought the appearance of money into the town, but none of that money has gone into the local population and has created a lack of jobs unless you want to work for the resort. On top of this, the resort is actively brining in foreign employees on work visas to fill positions to again, artificially, give the place a feeling of class and money. Which has further taken jobs away from locals and damaged the small town economy. At first rolling into this town you’ll think, wow, how are all the buildings in this town so huge and beautiful in the middle of nowhere. Then you realize 90% of the town is made up of the resort and once you know, the town becomes a very sad sight. Much more so even when compared to other small towns of a similar size in the region. Nice resort, good food, good service. Way overpriced and hurts the town which it resides. Won’t be back

We recently stayed at the Omni Homestead Resort and had a wonderful experience overall. David at the Front Desk was extremely kind, professional, and helpful—he assisted us with a room upgrade and made the process smooth and pleasant. Gladys from Guatemala was also incredibly friendly and attentive, and Luis, another team member from Guatemala working in one of the restaurants, provided us with excellent service. However, upon check-out, we had an unfortunate experience with the valet parking. We waited for over an hour to receive our car, receiving several different explanations—first that there were only two people available, then that the car couldn’t be found, and finally that it wouldn’t start. Eventually, I had to walk over myself, and it turned out the battery had died because the valet had left the lights on. Once we got home, the car still had issues starting, and we had to temporarily replace the battery. Despite this incident, the staff mentioned above truly made our stay enjoyable. We hope the management can review the valet process to ensure better communication and care in the future.

The Omni Homestead was lovely, quite, picturesque, and everything you would like for a rejuvenating weekend or stay. The pools and spa have something for everyone in a family or group. The views are endless and inspiring. The old world American charm is spot on. The grounds are refine and well maintained; the flower boxes and plants are magical. The golf course makes a non-golfer want to learn the sport. The activities, such as the horse back riding, are fun and user friendly as well, the instructors are local and knowledgeable. The staff is friendly and attentive. The food is well made, tastes excellent, and you can tell the chiefs actually care about what they are cooking for the guests. The rooms are perfect for sleep and lounging. It is a great place to go and vacation in a way that makes you feel like a time traveler with modern conveniences. It’s a beautiful place probably every season of the year, but fall was stunning. Highly recommend and plan to go back!!

Positive: The activities and all this hotel offersvis behind anything else! Negative: The seats were stained, the doors are creeky. It's huge, and you have to walk a lot to get to different activities, so not for people with disabilities. For about $--- a night would have liked to have some sort of view and not be next to the elevator.

No hot water the whole time on resort…bath room was not the cleanest as you would expect for 500 night ..sink didn’t drain properly, sea food first night made us ill..food in general was not to standard for the price
