Absolutely fantastic service. My tires were low, and they not only refilled them - for free - but replaced some missing tire valve caps. My go-to gas and service station in Alexandria.
Armin and the team are great. I went in thinking that my alternator was on the out and expecting to have to pay hundreds of dollars for repairs. They checked everything, fixed one small issue with my undercarriage, and sent me on my way with peace of mind.
This gas station has an employee a female whenever you go and you see her make sure you don’t pay with the credit card. Pay cash get a receipt because she’s stealing money from customers. on Friday at 7:15 AM. I went to get gas somehow on my car and decline and when I left the gas station I got a text message from my bank that says it’s worth $25.71 gas I went back there. And told her that you charge me $25.71. We need to refund it for me. And she said I don’t know how to do that. When I got to the pump I saw the transaction for $25.71 and that’s how she charge my clock. It’s obviously she didn’t want to refund my money because she took the money off. And this is the third time it happened. All she was trying to do is so I can lose my temper so she can call the police and I get arrested. Which she forgot. I wrote those books 30 years ago. And she wanted to use it on me.
$25.71. I don’t mean nothing to me. Every day I spend $80 coffee, scotch whiskey, and snack here in there, and pretend that I donated that money to homeless girl
I asked for an external transmission cooler for my '13 Rogue. They insisted I didn't need one, just a new fuel pump. 1K$ later, I'm sitting on the side of the road waiting for my transmission to cool down so I can drive home without my car in safe mode. Safe mode means my car tops out at 45mph on the I-95, with semis bearing down on me!

It took me a while to find a quality consistent auto place. I found Old Town Liberty. Armin treats you like family not just like a Customer. The team is wonderful. They do check in on you and up on you. Much appreciated Customer service moreso at a time when too many forget the Customer in service. Thank you Armin!
Consistently lowest fuel prices in Old Town Alexandria. They also do Virginia state safety and emissions inspections. Only downsides: Parking lot is a little tight, and the tap to pay function doesn't work on all pumps.
I was really excited about going to this mechanic as a new customer. I brought my car over there to get my oil changed and also requested they look at the air conditioning and a noise in the wheel I heard while driving. They changed the oil. When I asked them about the air conditioning, they mentioned that there was too much Freon in it and that they need to recharge for $200 plus. I asked them if that would work and they said, they did not know until it was recharged. They also mentioned that I go back to the place I had originally went to have the air conditioning fixed (they also added Freon). They did not give me any input on the wheel making noise. Oh well, the search for a mechanic continues.
He always has the lowest price on gas within Old Town Alexandria. We appreciate that sir. I buy gas from here 4/5 times a week. He has free digitalized air for your tires. There’s an Auto Shop. Great staff. Always clean and neat place. Place needs expansion though. High volume of customers.
It looks like at the going all the way out to VA which is Virginia this liberty gas service station seems to have so many issue problems. And it’s like that there aren’t being confronted or regulated correctly as it looks that some of there immediate problems I need toward the proper attention before it can be corrected and updated that shouldn’t be happening you would think. Now as an influencer I have a great deal within the DMV, as well as my new letter online pages with millions of video’s and lots viewers on a daily basis.
I have been going to Old Town Liberty since we moved to Old Town 7 years ago. They are the best mechanics I've ever been to. They are efficient, fair, and honest. I have never had a bad experience there. Drew has helped me on multiple occasions and I can't thank him and his team enough. I'd highly recommend them to anyone looking to service their vehicles.
Dishonest and unprofessional technician
On August 27, I took my car into Old Town Liberty Auto Service for state emission/safety inspection. I dropped by about 1:00 pm on that day; the desk person stated that they wouldn’t be able to test the car for at least 1 to 1 ½ hours, since they only had one mechanic working, and recommended that I return later.
I returned in the recommended time interval and after waiting for about 45 minutes, my car was up for testing. After about 2 to 3 minutes, I was beckoned by the technician. He abruptly stated something to the effect of “Your car’s gonna fail since your horn’s not working”. I wanted to make sure I understood what he was saying, so I asked him to repeat this. He was visibly annoyed, started honking the horn a number of times, and stated “See? It’s sounding wrong – it’s not working.” I was surprised by this since the horn’s quality and volume sounded fine particularly over the traffic noise of Washington Street. I told him I didn’t quite understand what he meant, to which he replied “Look, I’m a mechanic and you’re not, so I know what I’m talking about. You can take it to another place, and they’ll tell you the same thing”. He didn’t offer anything along the lines of fixing this supposed issue, so I left.
I took my car to another station in the area immediately after this interaction. My car passed the inspection testing without any problem.
I wanted to confirm that there was not an actual problem with my car’s horn, so I took my care to my Acura dealership for routine inspection, and I asked them to check the horn. They stated that there was no problem with the quality/volume of the horn. I suspected that this would be the case.
I understand that this technician at Old Town Liberty may have been under pressure since he was the only one working that day, however his dishonesty and unprofessional behavior was uncalled for. I felt his dismissive manner was directly related to me being a woman. Unless the management at Old Town Liberty addresses this issue, I will not be returning to this station for any services and I recommend that others (especially women) avoid taking their cars there for service.
Where Dave goes, my car goes. Any time I need work done on my car, from basic inspection to regular maintenance to that deep, demonic, unidentifiable growling noise, I always find Dave first thing and get it handled. I’d recommend anyone else do the same.
Wow this place is great. Went in for some quick service, they were able to get it done efficiently. They found a few things wrong with my car, and we’re able to be taken care of that day. They also did a really good job with renovating this place, it really needed it.
Great little auto repair shop. Mechanics have been knowledgeable on repairs and trustworthy thus far; I know because I can do the repairs myself if I only owned a car lift. Simply put, they haven't hustled or been gimmicky.
I will not be bringing my car back to this Liberty. I brought my car in for a VA state inspection. They rejected my car because I need to have my wipers replaced. I was not informed that the vehicle must be returned within 15 days for the inspection. According to the VA website, the station is supposed to inform the owner of the vehicle of this 15 day period. I am not from VA and did not know. They only said once the wipers are replaced I would be charge $1 for re-inspection. I returned in 19 days and they charged me $20 once again to check my wipers. They also made me wait 1 hour although the virginia.gov website says they must inspect the vehicle without delay upon return. They said there is nothing they can do because the state requires them to charge $20, although I saw on virginia.gov that they only send $.70 to the state for inspections. I told them that was the last $20 they were getting from me. If I cannot trust them to give me the correct information about my vehicle and to be honest with me about the cost in a small matter I certainly cannot trust them in larger repairs for my car.
Nothing fussy, nothing flashy. Simply a great station with efficient, hardworking guys if you require a safety or an emissions test in Alexandria. These guys will treat your time like it’s their own. Fantastic experience. I’ll be back next year.
Dean and his team do an excellent job dealing with you honestly. They give accurate diagnostics every time, and on multiple occasions have told me that parts were nearing the end of their life cycle, but need not be replaced yet.
They did recently replace my catalytic converter for a much lower price than I had received other quotes for. Dean made it a point to change out only what needed to be, which significantly brought the price down.
The team has valuable knowledge about cars that they can clearly communicate to the average owner. I am comfortable asking them questions (some of them dumb) when I want a better understanding.
I highly recommend Old Town Liberty if you live in or around the beltway.
These guys are great because they’re transparent with what they find wrong with your car. They will tell you what’s wrong and how much it will cost before doing anything. And I believe they’re genuinely honest, not just trying to make money. Orlando is my guy there and as long as I can help it, I won’t go anywhere else.
I cannot, cannot, say enough good words to describe my experience each time I get service at this location. Deen, Jerry, Ahi, and the rest of the guys who work here are the most honest, knowledgeable, and helpful people I've ever encountered at any auto center. They fixed my AC by adjusting one dial when others told me I would probably need a new expensive condenser. They will always get my business and my friends.
I will never go to another service station as long as Liberty is around.
The service and technicians at 725 N. Washington Street are outstanding. You can always trust their pricing and work. They are very trustworthy and honest and will get the job done within a rapid turn around time.
Great and reliable mechanic shop. Back in 2012 when I came for my first visit my car needed a safety inspection I was in and out quick. Still a returning customer running strong to this day. Great customer service I'm very loyal and pleased.
One of the cheapest gas stations on GW Parkway, which is great - but sometimes they give you a weird hard sell on gasoline additives or during state inspections. Come here for the gas prices but be careful of anything else they try to sell you.
While traveling alone visiting and site seeing with family, my car would not start. It was towed to this garage on a Saturday morning without an appointment. I was fearing the worst but, I was pleasantly surprised. The head mechanic took my name and number and I went on with my plans for the day. By 3:00 in the afternoon, I knew what the problem was, the part was ordered, put in and my car was ready to be picked up by closing or if I wouldn't be there until later, the gas station cashier could take care of the bill. I arrived at the garage around 9:30 pm and the cashier took care of the transaction and I drove away!! The service charge was what was expected and I didn't have to change any of my plans. Efficient and accommodating.
My go to dealer service manager suggested that I change my spark plugs. When I stopped by Liberty for a full synthetic oil change, I asked the service manager to see if they would suggest the same thing. He checked my car and said I don't need to change my spark plugs for another 20K miles. Guys are very sincere. I will definitely go back.
I've taken my Mini Cooper to Liberty now three times and each time I've had a really great experience. I can tell they take customer service very seriously and i always get an honest assessment of the work that needs to be done. Dean has been especially wonderful to me and my dad. We are very thankful to have Liberty so close to our house/work and recommend them to everyone who needs a mechanic in the old town area.
These guys were great. I came in for inspection after being failed under suspicious circumstances at another shop. I pulled in to the lot, and had my inspection complete and pass in less than 10 minutes. I was blown away by how friendly and honest these guys were, especially being a woman in an auto shop. I will definitely be coming back and referring this place to all my friends
