Title: The Dealership That Survived the Customer From Hell (me) and Earned My Respect I’ve been car shopping for what feels like a decade — test drives, fake smiles, “let me talk to my manager” routines — you name it, I’ve seen it. I walk into dealerships like a human lie detector with a caffeine problem. But then I landed at here and worked with Deborah, Yahya, and Rob, and something weird happened… everyone was actually fair, friendly, and honest. No hidden fees, no pressure, no eye rolls when I asked to see the fine print (and yes, I always ask). They treated me like a person, not a quota. Every question I lobbed at them — and I had many — was met with straight answers, & genuine patience. I left not only with a car I love, but with my faith in dealerships somewhat miraculously restored. If you’ve been burned before or just have a built-in BS radar like me, give these folks a shot. They passed every test - this place has good vibes and that means a lot coming from a jerk like me that won't hesitate to walk out of a showroom. One more thing: they all own Mazdas. I don't have any tatts but I might get a Mazda one.. or maybe not... anyway, I won't bore you with the tech on why I only buy Mazdas. Always avoid CVT transmissions. Treat yourself to a drive that is fast, tight, reliable, and price friendly.

I was searching for a vehicle for business purposes and saw a Jeep compass. In my research, I found one at this dealership. It appeared to have great reviews and decided to check them out with a family member. One of the best experiences I've had at a dealership in a long time. Abdel Neda, who is a product specialist and sales rep, was awesome! Very professional, ambitious and thoughtful! He accommodated us with anything that we needed. Abdel took extra care to make sure that the vehicle was ready and even filled up the gas on the vehicle for us before heading out. Rob at finance was professional and quick with the paperwork. The process took 3 to 4 hours, but it felt much quicker. If you're looking for a used or new vehicle the dealership has a variety of different vehicles to choose from. I don't think you'll be disappointed. I recommend it.

Saleswoman Deborah was one of the most charismatic, energetic, and friendly people I have ever done business with. She is truly a gem. For the service side of the house. First, scott is the man. His professionalism is insane, and he has never tried to sell me anything more than what I need. Only super reasonable maintenance at manufacturer's intervals, which is what you should expect and exactly what you get. Scheduling, wait times, and the waiting area are all better than I have ever experienced at another dealer's shop. If you want Mazda service done, this is the place. If I move, I'd still drive 2 hours to get service done with this team.

Strongly recommend avoiding this dealership Sales agents tried to bait and switch by quoting me a price for the VIN of one vehicle, then telling me that price was for a different VIN which was an older inferior model with more mileage after I showed up in person. Finance and management are incompetent and seemingly unaware of their own policies, sales manager would say one thing and finance says something completely different. If you imagine typical sleazy dealership behavior, Safford Brown Mazda Alexandria is the shining example of it.

I had a great experience purchasing my 2020 Honda Civic EX-L from this dealership! Bryant was super helpful throughout the car search and made the whole process smooth. He really listened to what I wanted and helped me find the perfect fit. Yahya worked with me on the financing side and made sure I got a deal that worked for my situation. I absolutely love the car it drives amazing and feels brand new. Highly recommend both of them if you’re looking for a car and want to be taken care of right!

So much frustration and disappointment following a recent service visit to Safford Brown Mazda Alexandria. I brought my vehicle in due to an unexpected engine malfunction light and related issues, and unfortunately, the customer service I received fell well below expectations. I purchased my Mazda from this dealership in December 2022, and up until now, I had been pleased with the vehicle and service experience. However, this recent visit has caused me to seriously reconsider that trust. First and foremost, the initial service associate I interacted with, Sandra Bonillo, was rude, dismissive, and confrontational from the outset. I had to ask several times for her to explain the issue with my car, and despite repeated efforts to understand what was going on, she was either unable or unwilling to provide a clear explanation. Rather than offering any reassurance or professionalism, I was met with frustration and impatience Even more concerning, the associate could not explain why the engine malfunction light came on, nor could she offer any rationale for why the battery in a two-year-old vehicle would have suddenly died. These are serious concerns, and the lack of clear information only added to the stress of the situation. Thankfully, another associate, Tyree, overheard the interaction and stepped in to assist. This individual took the time to walk through some potential explanations and made a genuine effort to address my concerns. I sincerely appreciated that support, but it’s disappointing that I had to rely on a bystander to receive basic information. He also updated her notes in the system and ensured I was well taken care of, including adding information on how the battery failure and system warning could be related. The fact that it required someone else to step in highlights a clear gap in training and professionalism and seriously made me doubt the level of care that Sandra took with my issue. I just hope that nothing has been missed as a result. I was seriously considering purchasing a second Mazda from this dealership in the near future. However, based on this experience, I am now leaning toward the Fairfax Mazda location, where I hope the level of professionalism and customer care would be more consistent.

My husband , FIL, and I came in one weekend looking to buy a used Lexus we saw available at their lot. The salesperson who helped us achieve this goal was Janyo. He was very friendly and professional and worked with us on getting the Lexus for a great price as well as making the entire process from start to finish smooth. When it was time to go over to finance we were introduced to Yaya who again was friendly and professional and made the paperwork process a breeze. I would like to thank these two as they helped this impatient pregnant lady get her car at the right time . I appreciate everyone here at Mazda for their patience and professionalism .

Been coming here for years to maintain my CX-3. Scott has been as excellent service provider! My car gets everything she needs to run smoothly and I’ve never had unnecessary services pushed on me. If you choose to wait for your service to be finished, they have a comfortable area to do so, including WiFi and coffee/tea/water. Bathrooms are clean!

My gas tank door mechanism was defective and I took it in to be repaired. They diagnosed the issue on site and ordered the part. I did have to go back the following week but this was not an issue for me. I was able to use a loaner vehicle while my car was being repaired. Once the repairs were complete, they sent me a video update showing me that it was working and then I was able to go pick up my car and check it as well. This entire time I am getting text updates and overall the best customer service. Cande was incredible and very personable! Highly recommend to anyone needing Mazda repairs!

I left a really detailed review on Yelp on this, but this has even less characters available than Yelp does, so I'm going to simplify it. Mazda Brown Alexandria lost a customer yesterday, and the cause of that loss was employing for 11 years a customer service representative, Scott, who is known to not be respectful to customers. Someone on Yelp had my exact same experience where he ghosted them the whole day and then did not apologize and eventually purposely hung up on me. This caused me to have to make an extra trip to and from the dealer yesterday. The manager Frank attempted to rectify this a little bit. I did get a loaner car briefly, but time is the only non-renewable resource, and Mazda Brown Alexandria wasted my time yesterday and lost a customer. I would not recommend going here. And then you would think after the rigmarole that I ended up going through, that my car would have been spotless when I got it back. But there was wax all over the windshield, when I attempted to drive it this morning I had to stop my car and wipe it down with a towel just to clear it. This is a perfect example of how bad employees cost businesses money.

Angela was an exceptional salesperson. From the moment we arrived at the dealership, she was incredibly approachable and easy to talk to. Unsure about which car to choose, I appreciated her valuable insights and straightforward information. I test drove the Mazda 3 sedan and later decided to try the CX-50, ultimately choosing to purchase it. She made the entire process seamless, even coming to my sister's house to apply a clear coat protector on my new car.

This is my second time buying from this dealership and my second time buying from Deborah! I got to trade in my 2021 Mazda 3 hatch yesterday for a 2025. She’s always so polite, and helpful, and patient with me as I ask to see a dozen different cars. Both times I’ve bought here have been super smooth, the staff are all very friendly, and I love my vehicles. Thanks so much Deborah!

This one star is for their as-is used car policy which means 1) zero return window, 2) no ability to take the car to a trusted mechanic before purchase, even next door, and 3) warranty options that are prohibitively expensive at a fourth to a third of the used car price. These taken together convey that this dealer does not have any confidence in the servicing and quality of their cars, when the only reason a buyer would want to pay a higher price at a dealer vs via private party would be the confidence and peace of mind they would get from a dealer’s servicing and backing. This dealer seems content to perform minimum service to pass a VA inspection and then pass off the car on a customer. I had to push with a manager to even get relevant paperwork on this car’s servicing and condition. I was left with a feeling of great unease and uncertainty about my purchase. Shop elsewhere.

Just got my new car from here. From the entry everything was super smooth. No long waiting. Andrew, the customer rep assigned to me was absolutely fantastic. I had my friends tell me that the dealership folks are always trying to rob you but he didn’t talk about money to me at all. He just explained to me which car would be best for me and actually helped me out rather than trying to push some schemes or numbers on me. Way to go!! 10 on 10 experience overall!

I came to this Mazda store twice in the past week, and both visits were disasters—largely thanks to Sandra at the service desk. When I first called, I was told to just show up early and a loaner could be available. I have a two-year-old and can’t be without a car, so I showed up first thing. No loaners. They promised to call me “in a couple of days.” No call—at all. Today I showed up again after accidentally booking at the wrong Mazda location hoping simply to schedule a new appointment on a day they would have a loaner. Sandra’s entire response was: “We don’t have any appointments right now” and “What do you want me to do? I don’t have a loaner.” Every time I tried to finish a sentence, she cut me off. When I finally asked to speak with someone who would let me explain my situation, she shrugged and said, “There’s no one. If you want you can go to the Sales department . I wasn’t asking for magic—just a date and time when a loaner might be available so I could plan ahead. Instead, I got attitude, interruptions, and zero solutions. I walked out feeling completely disrespected.

Unsafe staff driving through residential Buckman Road at over 40 mph in a 25mph zone. Management needs to tell their staff to follow the laws and drive safely and not cut through residential neighborhood to get back to the dealership in a faster time. I would never buy from a dealership that encourages or even tolerates this kind of behavior from their staff.

I never leave reviews but had to related to this location. I have been coming here for service since late 2019 and the service department has consistently gone done hill, especially since Gary left. I had a tire blow out in April and brought my car to them to replace the tire. They replaced the tire and tried to get an alignment added without my approval, which was a $150 charge. That is just the beginning of it. In the process of changing my tire, they scratched the rim which was confirmed by Wheels On Site when they came to my house to fix it. Additionally, they claimed they balanced my tire after replacement but after getting the car back, my entire steering wheel was shaking. I took to a third party shop who realigned my front two tires (including the replacement tire) and they said the balance was horrendous. To make matters worse, after replacement of the tire, my tire pressure sensor was totally broken on that specific tire. They claimed they didn't damage it. I brought the car back and explained those three issues and was told that they are not going to assist with rebalancing and the rim scratch. All they did was give me free labor on a replacement tire pressure sensor. This location was great in the past for service, but it has now become absolutely garbage. They try to stuff you on work that is not necessary and treat your car as if it is in a junkyard. I will be finding a new dealer going forward.

I leased my car here 3 years ago and ended up purchasing it in April. My salesman, Alex, was phenomenal. Highly recommend him. However, I recently returned for my annual inspection and there are multiple chips in the windshield where they removed the previous sticker. Incredibly frustrating and shows the lack of care for one's vehicle. I have been consistently calling the service desk, only to be told the manager Frank will contact me to no avail. While some members of the staff here are nice, they are unfortunately very inattentive. It's a lot of constant follow ups that often result in no action on their end. When it comes to selling you a car, you can't get them out of your phone. The minute you sign the paperwork, they essentially forget you exist.

Excellent Service from the Parts Department!!!! Yesterday, I visited the Mazda parts department to purchase an oil filter for my daughter’s car. I was helped by Sergio Chicas, who was incredibly friendly and helpful. Although it was a simple transaction, he took the time to explain the importance of replacing the O-ring and even made the extra effort to go back and get the correct replacement ring for me. I’ve been to other dealerships, including Toyota and BMW, but I’ve never encountered a parts specialist as kind and attentive as Sergio. He genuinely cared about making sure the oil change would be done properly. Thanks to his outstanding service, I will definitely be coming to the Stafford location for all my future car service needs. Thank you, Sergio!

I had my Mazda serviced at Safford Brown Mazda Alexandria and was very pleased with the professionalism and care I received. From making the appointment through to check out everything was excellent. The Service Manager was so kind patient and helpful. I would highly recommend Safford Brown Mazda Alexandria to family and friends. In addition, the waiting area was very pleasant and comfortable. I was impressed by the clear explanations given regarding what need to be done and found the video of my car explaining the work needed very interesting. Thank you for the opportunity to share my experience. I definitely will return to Safford Brown for future servicing.

All the communication with service advisor was great and nice. I've got top level service. Thanks Tyree! Can recommend! Only drawback is time spent for a car service, I was estimated 2 hours for oil + filter change and car tech look up, but it took more then 4 hours. Not a big deal for me, but it would be great to notify customers if there are some delays or line of cars.

I was assisted by Bryant Barberena and he was so helpful from the start till the end of our purchased. His information about the vehicle was superb, helpful and just the whole experience was great. It was my wife first car and shes loving it. Not just her but the whole family and friends loved the car. We both appreciate all the staff in Mazda Safford Brown Alexandria.

This is my second time buying new from Safford Brown and I hope it won't be my last! My first experience with Brown's was way back in 2019 when my 2013 Maxda3 hatchback (bought used in MA) was having some troubles and they were quick to take me in, get me a loaner and made sure my car was safe for me to drive back up to MA with after some fixes.I then bought a new 2019 CX-5 back in MA when I was home for Christmas one year and of course, had to get it serviced at Brown's once I came back to VA. I loved that car until one day in 2021 I was in getting an oil change and used car prices were way up, so I said why not, quote me on my used car and what do you have new. Travis was amazing back then as my salesman and finance was amazing as well. Drove off the lot in a brand new car with only a slightly higher payment. SO now brings me to January 2025 when my three year complimentary Connected Services ran out and I ended up paying the $10/mo because I love the remote start. For the life of me, I couldn't figure out how to reset the system and connect my car to my phone again. I ended up stopping by the dealership one day after the gym and grocery shopping. I walked in to Service, who quickly intro'd me to a Salesman since they knew a bit more about the Connected Services than Service did. Jayno walks over, immediately understood my issue and sat in my car with me FOR AN HOUR trying to get the damn car connect to my phone. I was telling him about how I got this car from Travis and by some divine intervention, Travis pulled up as he is now the Used Car Manager for the dealership! We all said hello and as I got out, I got my first glimpse of the CX-70. I immediately was drawn to it and being so fed up with my phone/car not connecting, I asked Jayno if he had one inside we could look at to provide some sort of relief from the frustration and he's like yes, of course, right next to my desk (same desk Travis used to sit at and where I bought my last car!). So we get to talking, I'm now at the dealership for 2 hours with my groceries still in the car and sweaty from the gym, so I ask Jayno if he has a CX-70 in my desired trim that I could drive home to shower, eat and let my dog out and think about if I'm actually going to do this. Of course he finds me the exact trim I wanted to test (not color/interior since it was all short notice) and sends me on my way. The car drives like a dream, all the bells and whistles I wanted. I finally feel like me again after some food and rest, so I text Jayno about my preferred color interior/exterior. He's like let me see what I can do. I get back to the dealership, pulled right up front is the Snowflake exterior/red interior Premium PLus CX-70 of my dreams. He said it already has a full tank of has for you too. So we head inside, I ask where can I sign and boom, walked into the dealership to connect my old car and will drive off with a new one. Rob, Sales Manager, was right there beside us the whole time making sure the price was right, which was much appreciated as I came in as a lone female (my husband is deployed, surprise babe I bought a new car)! Now comes in Ariana, Finance Manager. Omg what an ANGEL of a human. She was already working after hours with me and still had two other customers after me. We got to talking about desired monthly payment and she was able to pull some voodoo magic and get me an AMAZING interest rate, included maintenance, ceramic coating, extended warranty and road hazard all for UNDER my desired monthly payment. I truly can't thank the whole Safford Brown team enough for all they do for their customers. I so enjoy getting my car serviced here, as well as buying my cars here! ANYONE would be lucky to buy a car here, they make the process so smooth and continue to with service as well.

Alex (sales rep), Arianna (finance), and Eric (service) were all phenomenal to work with. We felt welcomed and accommodated during every step of the car buying process, and we would not hesitate to come back in the future. The test drive was a planned route (that we asked for) and it showed us the capabilities of our new vehicle under varying road conditions. We were encouraged to really get a feel for the vehicle and what it could do. The experience was also very low-pressure and we never felt rushed. The service after buying a vehicle was just as stellar as when we were still hashing out the purchase. The interior of the dealership is open and clean with lots of natural lighting. The design itself felt modern, and their waiting area was very comfortable. Overall, I would highly recommend this specific dealer.

Today was a good day! It started with my deciding to trade in my 4 Runner foe a CX-90. I wanted a hybrid but sadly the one I wanted was selected but there was a back up that I was interested in. I emailed the dealer through their site and I received an immediate response from Anthony Arthur and I told him I would be to the dealership to look at the vehicle. I did not have a time but when I arrived the vehicle was out front with the keys in it so this gave me an opportunity to just sit in it and do my walk around. After that I walked into the dealership and Rob Zaher greeted me and offered to assist me since Anthony was busy with customers. He is the finance person but he drove the car for me so that I can sit and feel the vehicle. This was going to be my 4th Mazda so I didn’t need to drive it. I also met Chad Lewis who enjoyed my hitch loco and he thanked me for my service (he was a military kid and had been in German and Fort Sill where I had toured both) as well as Rob who is also a veteran combat medic. Thank you Rob for your service. Thank you all for your kindness and for making my 4th Mazda purchase as enjoyable as the previous three! Also thank you for going out of your way Rob to buy me a cola. I totally forgot to eat today and I was crashing and needed the sugar! Thank you gentlemen again and once that hybrid comes along that I want I will be back to purchase it.
