Forced to tow by police because of the contract they have with them. Crazy price, traffic was being handled, and I was able to move and drive the car but police wouldn’t allow me to , said I couldn’t get it done .

I am writing to formally report an incident involving a towing company and local police officers working together
Our truck became stuck at a rest area on the side of the road. The police called a towing company that arrived and pushed the truck out. Following this, the company demanded a payment of $1,850 and threatened to tow the vehicle to their facility if the balance was not paid within 15 minutes.
Despite our willingness to cooperate and settle the matter, the police seized the driver’s license and permit book. They then removed the driver from the truck and instructed him to go to a hotel.
We believe the conduct of the towing company and the responding officers was unprofessional and suggests a coordinated effort to extort funds. This matter will be officially reported to the Sheriff’s Office as criminal activity.Jan 26, 2026 -
I highly recommend this towing company for whoever is frustrated and feels helpless with car accidents or other situations. The manager John’s been so trustworthy and professional job done with my car stuck on front yard with underneath the rocks. Don’t go anywhere else if you need such help, call this company!

extremely rude lady with the red hair at the front desk, she had a really rude attitude and didn’t even tell us if we were all done at the front, i had to ask if we were good to go. she definitely needs to fix the nasty attitude.

My car was towed here after an accident. Geico later came to take it to their yard. Redman took the plates off for me. Redman called me every step of the way. It was easy to pick up my plates. I didn't have to pay Redman directly as everything was covered under insurance. Everyone I dealt with at Redman was polite.

Transmission went out. Redmans sent out a Truck within 30 minutes. Rubin the driver was excellent. Good communication and a great service attitude. Thank you. Highly recommend this tow company.

I don’t go out of my way to leave negative reviews, but the big ole white lady at the front desk was so incredibly rude to me and my dad. We came to be in and out just to pay to have our car back, but she kept making sarcastic comments and snide remarks. We didn’t make any issues or say anything because we were so taken aback and simply paid and left. My dad doesn’t speak very good English, but he told me even he knew she was being hostile just from her tone. She kept repeating the price over and over, when we already knew how much it was the first time she said it, saying it was a lot of money, implying we couldn’t afford it. One of the many comments she had made was “of course your dad is paying for it.” and it was just unnecessary hurtful. I was just there to translate and help my dad get his car back, but we were met with pure disrespect.

Redman Towing never towed or stored my car, yet still filed a lien -- blatantly violating state law that requires notice and actual possession. That's a blatant violation of state law, which requires 7 business days and 15 days' notice, and only applies when a vehicle is actually towed or held. They did neither. Instead of providing a service, their "computer systems made a mistake" with paperwork that threatened me with an unlawful lien. While the lien was eventually removed. It should have never been placed in the first place--if they followed prescribed Virginia Law. They're too blinded by profit to the point they can't ensure proper management controls are in place to prevent "mistakes" from happening in the first place. I would hate to see what would have happened if we were on an extended vacation and didn't find a letter from DMV that said a lien was placed on our vehicle. Just send my personal property to auction?
This is predatory, unprofessional, and unlawful. Avoid Redman Towing at all costs. There are too many better reviewed companies to use.Sep 08, 2025 -
It's scorching hot today, heat index 110 and the office is locked and closed. I am forced to wait outside for a tow truck driver to come and get my car (20min) because no one physically working at the location.

Someone hit my car on March 28, 2025, and state police called for a tow. Unfortunately, this was the company. Other owner's insurance accepted liability, but Redman decided to put a lien on my car immediately anyways even though the employees there HAVE SPOKEN WITH INSURANCE REPRESENTATIVES. There was no need to put a lien on immediately when the statute allows for 30 days. This is just straight-up predatory and why towing companies have bad reputations. There should be a notice provision required by the Code before a lien is put on the vehicle. (Company's won't have the common courtesy to do so if it's not mandatory). If anyone has to voluntarily chose a tow company -don't chose this company.

They brought my car to me in the early morning. I came before the day was due and they charged me 80 pesos for parking, plus 246 pesos for bringing it. The Alexandria police have a business and didn't give me the option to have them come for my car even though it's parked at Walmart, totally 360 pesos for getting it out the same day. 6/5/2025

I was literally yelled at by the guy, I understood I had accidentally parked in a spot where at 9pm would no longer be available to park I got out at 9:10pm - I quickly showed up within ten mins of being towed to pay and get my car back. Instantly giving me attitude while I was being polite. He hung up, I called back again because I was confused as to where my car was and he proceeded to yell at me that the driver will be there soon and hung up again. When I called back after driver arrived I asked if there was any other way I could pay as I didn’t have my card and knew it would be more (just for ten mins there it was $175 - I knew more days more time was more money) he once again was very hostile, yelling that I had to pay cash now if I wanted my car back. This was very disturbing. It became so disturbing that my partner wanted to call the cops just listening into the conversation on the phone.. Had there not been another girl waiting in the car right outside the gate, I would’ve felt even more afraid of the situation.

After an accident, car was towed here. They stole my EZ-Pass and license plates. Then racked up over 400$ on the jersey turnpike. Wish I was making this up. But these people are a special kind of thieves. I have all documentation.

The white lady at the desk saying that county requested the tow of my vehicle but no one made me aware of this until 5days later this now the price to retrieve my car has skyrocketed to over $700. The whole 5 days it says it’s supposed to be here at this lot 4000 s four mile run dr, my car is NOT even here. I went ask the white lady why do yall charge me the $700 daily fee if my car is not even here, she says that I have to call the county but it y’all’s prices NOT the county.
She argues with me while NOT knowing where my car even is at…

Are these people trying to deliberately cause wrecks to get more business? One of their drivers cut me off, and even when I honked at him, he just kept moving into my lane. His truck probably would have hit me if I hadn’t slammed on the brakes, never mind the Honda Odyssey he was towing behind his truck that I also had to clear before he drove into me.

Came today to get my things from my car. The man in the front office and especially the driver who helped me to my vehicle were professional, kind, and efficient. If you need your car towed definitely call Redman. Lot was really clean too.

My car got disabled on the highway, which is about 7 minutes or 4 miles from the tow company’s office. The police called them, the guy came and was in such a rush to get it on his truck. They kept my car overnight and when I got there in the morning and was told I owed them $409. For a 7-minute tow and one night? Then to make matters worse, this big ole woman at the front had the worst damn attitude in customer service. Loud, condescending, and just rude overall.

Very very rude customer service. Big old lady was yelling at me for asking a simple question. And said if I was sure they towed my vehicle when I had a receipt and a crash report. A guy (who was polite and understanding) came to help find my vehicle and guess what ? They had my car under a different model that’s why they couldn’t find it. All that yelling because of their mistake. And she didn’t even apologize at all. Just because it’s called redman doesn’t mean you should act like one ! She’s lucky I was calm from the start and didn’t even raise my tone a notch.

Was referred to this company by one that was too busy, and I’m glad I was. Got the price over the phone and mileage cost so everything was up front. Tow showed up extremely fast, I think about 10 minutes.

EXTREMELY RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I do not understand why the state police would utilize this shady company. Not only did the driver lie about the price for the tow, the front desk lady was extremely rude and nasty. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY THEY ARE SHADY AND THEY LIE ABOUT THE PRICE. For an impound the price is 231.75$ but once your car reaches the gates of the business the storage fee begins instantly of 83$ you have no grace period to get your vehicle. Once they have your car hooked up they can adjust things however they feel. THIS COMPANY WILL BE REPORTED TO THE STATE BECAUE THEY ARE FRAUDS AND LIARS. DO NOT AND I REPEAT DO NOT UTILIZE THIS SHADY SERVICE. If you have no other options make sure to record everything your told for transparency going forward. SMH!

I'm reporting them to the Attorney General. Was just on an extremely frustrating three-way call with Redman and my Insurance Company. Car was involved in an accident on Friday in VA. Asked if they could tow to Maryland and was told that they don't do it after 7, and that it would happen in the morning. The insurance company called me today to say the car never arrived at the repair shop and refused to release the vehicle to my Insurance Company unless they paid an additional 1200 for a "secondary tow." I don't believe all Tow Companies are predatory but things like this make me believe it's a vocal majority.

My tire blew out on the highway. They came as quick as possible to tow my car for me. The driver took my to a super closed used tire shop and even checked with the people there to make sure they could fix it for me right away before leaving them there. Extremely grateful for them

Poor Customer Service. Rude employees. My cuisine did a very bad accident last week, his car is towed by your company. I visit two times to take his stuff from the car I had his ID, Registration and police reports with my self. Two times they let me to to take the stuff. I was going to take the rest of the stuff from his car but tonight (Dec,16,2023 - 7:15pm) One Men and one Girl was in duty tonight these two guys was super rude. They don’t know how to talk with customers I have there record in my cellphone and I am sure there are security cameras too in case if amy supervisor want to check the cameras. I tell her so many time to be nice with me but she isn’t. Then I try to talk with that gentleman who was in other tables. He pick his phone that there was no call. I call him 4 times Sir, Sir, Excuse me. Sir…. But he even looks to me. If a company is paying for there stuff there stuff must be honest with his job. I was going to call cops but then I said no need for cops let me give you a very poor review in this website in case any responsible can understand my feelings. That girl with colorful hair with glasses should understand the value of his work place companies therefore I am giving a very Poor customer service experience and for rude behavior of the stuff 1 star ⭐.

Would not reccomend this company. They had me sign a paper giving them permission to withdraw payment from my account. Then they told me they no longer use that form and after delivery I paid them on the phone with my card number. Then after a day or so they said they charged me wrong and I owed them more money. After disputing this allegation, they withdrew from my account the amount they said we owed. I disputed this with my bank, bank said no fault of the company. They used the original paper that they said they no longer used. That was a lie.

My car was recently stolen and towed to Redman Fleet Services. They were the nicest people in this entire process of dealing with having your car stolen. The people in the office were super helpful. The gentleman and the lot was super helpful. All around they could not have been more kind during my very stressful situation. I cannot thank Redman enough for all of their service.

Avoid. Bait and switch pricing & dishonest business ethics. Tow driver said $150 to tow to the less than 5 miles to Redman location. At car pickup time, they pumped up the cost to $350 for towing and then added a fluffed up $150 admin fee to lookup car registration owner, even though we had verified those details 2 times in person already (at tow time and when going to empty contents days later), and then they added an inflated $80 per night storage. They tried to charge us $2000 total for holding the car for two weeks. Had to negotiate it down to $900, and even that is too high for the level of service and bait & switch pricing provided. They even prevented us from taking our car for 4 hours and would not even take a credit card or check, and just kept insisting on cash, wasting more of our time and adding more frustration to the hostage-like strong arm tactics.

Definitely a shady business going on here. A drunk driver totaled my car at 2am and they came to haul her away. My entire laptop case with drawing pad and laptop inside just vanished from the site. It wasn't anywhere up or down the road, no bits found. Pretty sure the tow driver took it while we were talking to the police and taking care of the two babies we had with us. Then when I showed up the next day to sign and get my stuff, the desk woman was incredibly rude. I was asking questions as I explained I have never wrecked a car before getting rear-ended by a speeding drunk. She very shortly and I must say with a great deal of nastiness told me that I just sign and insurance does everything. Thanks to her I had to make that three hour drive from my home to the crash area TWICE do deal with issues stemming from them and insurance. The final trip was to sign the title and allow them to scrap the vehicle, only to arrive after a long trip and find that they junked it a month prior.... Very unprofessional. If you can help it: avoid! I know most of us can't, as they have a deal with STATE POLICE!

This place picked up my sons car from a collision on the highway. My son was never told about how much daily charges would be nor signed any agreement for the vehicle. A few days later he had already owed $800 just in storage fees. Since the vehicle was totaled, the only real option we had was to forfeit the vehicle and title over to the salvage yard For $250. By doing so, my son would not owe the $800 anymore but loses the vehicle. We were not allowed to pick up any stuff out of the vehicle until the title was signed over to the salvage yard and the 250 was paid. I had installed an aftermarket radio shortly before the accident as a gift to my son and was not allowed to pull it out of the vehicle! And employee escorted us to find the vehicle to grab any remaining belongings he had. She was nice but a bit unprofessional and possibly a bit tipsy.
My rating is based off the fact that communication was poorly handled on expectations of their service and fees and the fact that they wouldn’t let us pull the radio.Aug 31, 2022 -
Lost driveline on the beltway. John was a really nice guy. He got me hooked up and back to the shop in no time. Great price! Way less than I was expecting. Great people, great service !
