I live seeing the "wall of shame" inside the front door that features people who are no longer welcome at the store. I appreciate the clean restroom. I like the local merchandise and the assortment of lunch options. Prices tend to be high so I generally limit my purchases.
My husband and I have been going here for years now. We’ve always experienced great customer service, until about two weeks ago.
We usually order food from their deli counter or get prepared sandwiches out of the window. In the past we’ve asked for toppings either put on the sandwiches or on the side and there has been no problem.
A gentleman has even gone above and beyond for us to make delicious food when they’re out of other items we’ve wanted! Ensuring us to come back because of how well they treated their customers.
Today the lady behind the counter was not only extremely rude, but refused to give us any toppings for our sandwiches; claiming they’ve never done that before.
I’m not sure if there are new people working or new management. But as a family who works in customer service, our treatment today was completely uncalled for and exceedingly ridiculous.
We stopped for gas yesterday and when we went inside we found a wonderful place. It was clean, appealing with a vast variety of items and fresh home cooked foods. There's a beautiful place to sit and eat. I found bacon ketchup, and local specialty items. We bought Christmas soda, Butterscotch Beer and Butterscotch Cream soda. Very friendly staff. It's too bad we live an hour away, I would make it my regular place to go. Coming from the deli business in NY, this is a place I would be very proud to work or even own. We'll be coming back whenever we are in the area. Love it. ❤
I had my hands full of stuff and I asked for a basket, they said they didn’t have any because people kept stealing them. I asked for a bag so I could continue shopping, they said no to that as well. Nobody likes shoplifters, but assuming someone is going to steal to the point that you won’t even give them a freaking bag is outrageous. I would have bought twice as much if I had a bag to put everything in (a bag that I ended up getting anyway!) Terrible customer service and not smart business.
Also, their “gourmet” tea cakes are mass produced and marked up almost 300%
Bbq sandwiches are amazing, the Italian Sausage was also very good!
We ordered the fried chicken and it was very crispy and big pieces but it does have a little kick to it so it wasn’t my favorite.
We also got some of their made in house fudge and that was 10/10 !!!
I’m so glad we decided to stop and use the restroom otherwise we wouldn’t of known of the Deli/Bakery :)
Try their cheesecake, you won’t regret it!

The place has every junk food item you could want. It offers a menu of fried chicken sandwiches and desserts. A bit pricey but the location brings in hordes of customers
I have lived in this Community for over 20 years and have always supported my local businesses but I will NEVER step foot in this store again. When Vern owned it was when it was great! I ordered a whole Lemon berry cake from them and when I went to pick it up they charged me $62.88 for a cake they didn't even make! Never told me the price. They sold it to me by the slice instead of a whole. If I had known that, I would have NEVER ordered it. I was told "I'm sorry they didn't tell you the price of the cake" and "I hope you enjoy it". RIP OFF!! If you enjoy being ripped off, then be my guest and enjoy. Customer service has totally gone to crap and they really don't care.
This place absolutely slaps. We stopped here after camping w some friends and it will forever be a landmark stop for us on all future trips. The food is amazing, the item selection is so unique and interesting, and the staff are an absolute delight. Do yourself a favor and stop here
I cannot say enough good about the inside of the store. They have local vendors items and the best baked goods! It’s a great place to stop for a quick bite! The people are super friendly
THE BEST OF EVERYTHING! Made to order food…breakfast sandwiches off the hook and the sauces, salsas, dressings and more, you want all of them to go! The friendly faces, kind and genuine service is still alive in a world where those are hard to find. Online shopping with delivery??? Until then, it is a road trip for the goods.
I blew a coolant hose and had to pull into their lot. The guy personally took my jugs and filled them up so I could get down the road. I appreciate this so much. I grabbed some of there breakfast biscuits and their killer. Highly recommended!
Besides the little "Trump" knick knacks at the register, and there only being one bathroom, everything else was good. The chicken was great, I tried some pastries, I will try the pies next trip!
This review is for what I’ll affectionately refer to as the crossroads shopping plaza.
It’s a large complex with ample space for rent in the event that you should need to start an office space, but if the prices of those rentals are any reflection of the price of products in the plaza, it might not be a good venture.
There is a bank. It’s outdoor atm has never worked. The only working atm is located in the gas station store itself.
The store has a number of very honest reviews on this page which I mostly agree with except for the deli/dessert area. I’ve watched employees behind the counter, I appreciate their hygiene, and I’m very impressed with the quality of food. The selection there is somewhat inconsistent though. If you find out they have the carnival cake when you stop in, you’re in luck.
Dr Ho’s Pizza is the other anchor store and a tremendous draw for the plaza. I’ll write about them in a separate entry.
Beautifully decorated in winter, and the gas pumps, while on the expensive side, are always accessible despite the snow.
Came here minutes before they closed the kitchen, not knowing that they were closing soon! The sweet lady taking our order didn't say one word about how we were so close to closing time. She took our order and promptly let us know that the roast beef was frozen (totally understandable since we were there right at closing!), and was also very patient when I took some time to choose something different. Our kids loved the fresh chicken tenders! They were also super understanding when one of our kids had a spill. There were all kinds of little gifts, purses, sweet treats, fudge... it's a great little shop! We got a slice of colossal cheesecake and a whoopie pie to-go. They were SO good! The cheesecake was not overly sweet. Just perfect. Super sweet people working here. We will definitely make another stop when we're in the area!
A great place to stop at to grab hot food, subs, sweets, homemade baked goods, and souvenirs. Got some friend chicken to go for camping and few desserts.
I love this place. I can't count how many times I've stopped here, even if it was just to pee.
1. I love the fudge. My brother did too and him ordering some is one of my last memories of him.
2. I love the food counter with it's fried chicken and Southern sides and especially, especially, especially, the desserts: cannoli and cheesecake, carrot cake and something called unicorn cake. It's always fun and so hard to choose.
3. I love the local wine and beer selection.
4. I love the dry little grocery area with the quirky dry goods.
5. I love that it's a cozy place to stop to eat and rest on your travels along 29.
6. I love the cute hats and other gifts and the random antiques that adorn the store.
7. I love the boot scrape outside.
8. I love that it feels like it's been there forever and it always will be.
9. I love always wondering what's upstairs.
10. I love that it's right next door to Dr. Ho's.
Had to stop for gas today, I was empty and I was yelled at in disrespect for trying to get gas by an associate.
And of all days to be on empty..
Apparently it wasn't the right kind and I needed to be yelled at.
I too had a hard day, would have been nice for a decent experience just to be nice. I swear I was only just trying to get home.
Will NEVER stop again.
I absolutely love everything about this store! The 1 eyed burger, fried chicken and mac and cheese is delicious! The desserts are phenomenal !! Everyone is always kind, patient and helpful . Thank you everyone keep up the good work ?
This store does have a great selection of things to choose from. But the deli/grill area is where my low rating comes in, none of the employees wore mask while cooking. They had them around their necks, but chose not to wear them. Laughing and talking with no mask over the grill and sandwich area preparing food.
I walked past the owner looking for something and I was totally IGNORED! He didn'task me "Do you need help finding something?"
I work in retail and I know good customer service. I walked past the fresh food section. Noone was being help. Yet, i was ignored once again! I've been stopping her for years on my way to Charlottesville VA, Richmond VA, etc... NEVER AGAIN! Heartless!
However, the cashier was kind and sweet. Poor thing for having to work in this environment.
