Extremely disappointed with the results of my engine repair. I had a motor replaced and some exhaust work done. Noticed the check engine light was on at pickup. Brought it back. All they did was turn the lights off. They said I might have a small leak in the exhaust that might need to be fixed later on. I scratched my head about it. Thinking well replacing the gaskets and having the exhaust off already why wouldn't you replace it now instead of doing it twice...okay. After breathing in the exhaust fumes for the next couple days I looked underneath. It was cold enough where I could see the exhaust. Looked like they rotated the exhaust pipe so the leak was on top out of site instead of the bottom. After a week the check engine lights came back on. They said it was a oil sensor. Turn the light back off and watch to see what happened. Week or two later light was back on. Oh, well now it's a timing chain issue. I bought a warranty with the motor, BUT this repair shop doesn't do timing chain repair. So you will do a motor job, supply warranty for the repair, buy "the Parts" but when there is an issue with the repair, not honor the warrant? The warranty is under the businesses name. Pretty shitty for the customer. Oh by the way you as the customer have to search for someone to repair the freshly replaced motor and not even a dealership will look at it now because it's not something they worked on. So really put me in a spot. Now waiting monthly for the repair so get done because everyone is booked out and nobody wants to work to fix someone else's mess. Yeah, wouldn't recommend!

I love these guys! They've been taking care of me and my family for a few years. They have always been honest and incredibly helpful whenever my car has problems. I am admittedly pretty clueless with cars. That being said, though, Jim has walked me through step by step how to do several things over the phone when I call with an immediate problem. As a young woman with limited car knowledge, I 100% trust these guys to be truthful and informative. On the rare occasion they have missed something, they had me bring my car in then fixed the issue with no charge. Incredible customer service and they've kept my family in good hands for a long time. Can't recommend enough!
Quite the find. Prompt service, great prices and beyond anything else, very honest. I was not oversold or pressured and my vehicle was serviced in a reasonable time frame. I will definitely make this my goto auto repair place from now on. Highly recommended

These guys are are very honest, reasonable, hardworking, and take time to explain things. I definitely recommend them. While they were flooded with tire installations they were able to take the time to look at my work truck.

John Doe sounds a bitter man. J and A auto have been wonderful to deal with. They are very honest and have saved my hundreds when others would have ripped me off. Parts cost the same as any other shop and their hourly rate is lower than most. Family run business who cares about others. You can trust Jim and the family and J and A auto in Bakersfield, VT. I spend $150 towing my car to them because I trust nobody else.
