I first went here years ago because it was close to my house. I was given what seemed to be a small amount for my scrap metal. The next time I went there I mentioned it to the owner and he went through the receipts and found I had been underpayed. He gave me the money I should have gotten. I went there again today. The original owner is retired and there are new people running it. I had at least half a ton of misc. scrap and since prices are fairly high I thought I would get a fairly good amount. After weighing out I was handed $40 and no receipt by the same guy that scaled it. I feel there is money being made by underpaying someone like me who is just there to clean the scrap off of my property and not a regular customer. After already having been underpaid once for my scrap it seems this might be a common practice there.
I’m leaving a review because they didn’t waste my time And we’re straight with me. I was bringing in a bunch of number 12 thhn copper. And they priced me at $.60 a pound. For those looking if you want a quick way to get Rid of your wire for cheaper I would go here but if you want to get your top dollar I would go to MCR recycling. I got 2.50 a pound It just sounds like Smaller gauge copper is not worth their time so they don’t pay very well for it.
The guy there on saturday was quick and helped unload. I have never had any language issues as other posts state. I had my scrap wire resorted in different grades as is expected. Last time I had not sorted it but he helped take a few coils out that looked darker. Never had a bad experience here.
Will never come here again. First time visiting. First issue only one person could speak English. Second only accepted cash. Third tired over charging me multiple time. They obviously can't do math. Told me $0.40 over the phone then told me $0.45 and then told them I only had $100 cash after finding out they do not take card. And told me I could only get 100lbs then I corrected them. Had told me $0.10 charge per pound for what metal I needed to cut to fit in my vehicle. Then tried to charge me all the metal at the price of getting every piece cut and only had 3 cuts done. Could not cut a straight line and did not know how to light their oxygen and acetylene and he been their 15 plus years.
They just look for any excuse to pay you less possible I went there couple times and is the same crap, I better went to redwood recicling and pay much better
Poor BUSINESS ETHICS!!! I took 66 pounds of aluminum cans to Redwood recycling and got $.50/pound $33.. same day I took 165 lbs. Of Computer grade extruded aluminum heat sinkers and other cast aluminum to custom industries, they offered me $.10/lb when I complained they changed the offer to $.25/lb. Half of cans! All I got was $44 only $11 more than 66 lbs. of aluminum cans. I realized there were a few steel nuts in the computer parts! But instead of discounting a pound or 2 (which would still be Exxesive) calling it dirty aluminum was a total rip off!
I am glad there is a metal recycling business in the South West side of the valley however the staff expects you to be an expert in how their process works. They need to communicate better. Probably not an issue if you are a frequent recycler. They also need to work on customer service with a bit more patience, kindness, and helpfulness. I don't expect recycling center employees to be the prince of Wales but they could avoid being demanding and rude. Not sure how the pay out compares with other recycling places.
Staff is rude and always yelling. No one should be treated the way the employe in the weighting shack treats people. Negative stars. Never will go back. Excuse from the office is its hard to find good Staff.
Great hours, friendly service, and good communication. Comparable payout for Aluminum cans to other recyclers. Open on Pioneer Day! Excellent variety in scrap metal if you are looking for some treasures.
I will never go back to this place. I brought in 400+ lbs of mixed metal including copper and aluminum. In return they gave me $5.80. I have brought the same kind of items to another scrape yard plus half the weight and got almost double the amount of $. This place is a straight up rip off.
I have been there many times, and have had no bad experiences yet. I have not seen a recycling place yet that is "clean". I would recommend this place to everyone.
