Overall I’ve had great experiences here.
Unfortunately I had engine repair needed on my 2014 Taurus. Water pump failure is very common on this model as it’s internal to the engine under the timing cover.
My normal shop didn’t handle engine repair so I had to start looking. Top recommendation from my normal shop was Spraggins.
After getting several estimates in Longview, Kilgore and Marshall from local shops and dealerships, I decided on Spraggins. Initially I was a bit off put that they wanted to either do all timing jobs with the water pump or they wouldn’t accept the job.
After it was said and done I think that was the correct assessment but I can see how other folks may also not perceive this with best intent but I think they’re trying to deliver the best quality for the customer overall.
Kevin is super friendly and was happy to answer all my questions.
Unfortunately they found a couple thousand or so more in needed repairs. I think most folks see these reports negatively but in my case at least I had neglected some things long term so I appreciated it and hired them to do more work that otherwise I would’ve forgotten about doing myself.
Ultimately it came to roughly $5k total.
I did have a slow oil leak on my valve covers later but after reporting the issue they accepted it as warranty repair and fixed it properly soon thereafter.
I am satisfied with the work and the way it was handled when it didn’t go perfectly with the warranty repair.
The only drawback to mention is that they seem to try to upsell BG products that are very expensive for services that I don’t feel are necessary for good function of the car.
Although it is nice to have the report sent to me directly with pictures. I really value that transparency and I can make my own informed decisions on how to proceed.
All in all, you will pay more here than other local shops but less than dealerships - although I do believe you get superior service and quality here than other places.

Stay away! Have my Nissan Titan there now ended up declining all services.
Their prices fluctuate on the reports they text out. I called the Nissan dealer in Longview for a price for 1 quart of ATF at a price of 17.49. Spraggins prices the first quote being 22 then promptly jumped to 27.28 a quart after another report was sent out. I can understand a little extra charge on the fluid but I refuse to pay an extra 10 dollars more than what I expect pay at the dealership. I offered to purchase the ATF in sealed Nissan bottles but they refused. They will not service a vehicle with custom supplied parts or products.
Every diagnostic is 140.00. You show up with a problem that’ll be 140.00, Oh you have a check engine light that’ll be another 140…
I want to say that I approved them to diagnose a leaking rear seal of my transmission. I knew of the leaks hence the need for repair. Plain and simple repair, that doesn’t need an hours worth of time to see. They do not incorporate the diagnostic in the price. You will pay for the diagnostic and you will pay for repair separately.
For what’s it’s worth they have their way of doing business, it just won’t evolve me anymore. Save yourself a headache and go somewhere else. Times are hard for everyone. Save your money. And yes they sent quotes for stuff that were irrelevant to the problems I have
We needed a bit of an unusual pre-purchase inspection. I talked to Kevin, who talked it over with the shop, and they were happy to help. They did a very thorough job of inspecting the car and really took the time to go over their findings and what they thought with me. Very friendly and professional. Great price. Kevin made car-buying a lot more pleasant. Grateful we found these guys and that they were willing to help.
I took my truck here to have a diagnostic done on it because it was making a bad humming and grinding noise on the front end and to start off the diagnostic was $140 which is expensive most places in town are $99 then they send me this laundry list of issues they found and not one of those issues was what I thought they were gonna look at. I told them what I believed the problem was and they told me they didn’t think that was an issue. They blamed the issue on the tires (which I will say that they were used tires and not balanced properly) but they weren’t the culprit. So I took my truck to another shop and they confirmed that the problem I thought it was, was in fact the problem so they fixed it and magically the noise was gone. The other shop also gave me a price for the exact same work to be done that spraggins was recommending and it was literally half the price. Spraggins was up charging me 300% to triple their money.
Quality work with integrity. They will give a thorough diagnosis of your vehicle with their recommendations and ask you which repairs you want done. i appreciate that they don't try to keep selling you repairs that you don't want.
My son put his 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander ($1000 car) in the ditch and broke the tie rods on the front end. It also flattened his tire. It’s an old car, but it gets him from A to B. Our son is paying for the repairs himself, and while he has some mechanical skill, he has not ever repaired tie rods, so we had them bid the work to repair the front end. They wanted to do $4777.00 worth of repair work. They wanted to add new tires, brakes and shocks to the backend. Fortunately, those are repairs we can do ourselves and we only live 45 minutes away. I asked him to please just quote me for only the front end work and we would get tires, brakes, shocks, etc. done on our own. Kevin gave us an amended bid for $2800, but it still included $400 for new tires and labor to mount them ($317 for tires & $81 labor). My husband is a military veteran and the tires alone would be $140 cheaper than the tires they quoted me at another store, so I asked if he could remove the additional cost of tires and mounting, and even
offered to come and get the front wheels to get the new tires mounted so that they would be able to do a correct front end alignment. Kevin refused to do that because he said he felt like it was “sacrificing quality and safety,” even though we were going to immediately turn around and get all the other things done before our son drove the car. VERY, VERY, VERY disappointed. We have never had an auto shop refused to do the focused repair that was required to get it back on the road. We had heard from other college student parents in the Longview area that they were a good shop that did reputable work without ripping you off, but in the end, it all came down to the extra $400 they wanted to make to put more expensive tires on the vehicle. Kevin also told me there was “always a little wiggle room in their bed in case there were any extra parts that they had not for sale.” But surely that wiggle room was not in the cost of tires and labor to mount them that was quoted. Very sad that they refused to complete the work otherwise, and I will definitely not recommend them to anyone in the future.
It was the best experience I've ever had with having someone fix mechanical issues on a vehicle spraggins are very Christian like people they take pride in their work and it's specially getting the individual back on the road as quickest possible working with an individual's budget spraggins blessed to me thank you Lord Jesus for spraggins...
Highly Recommend! I took my car to them after my check engine light came on for a misfire. They were able to diagnose the problem quickly. I had oil leaking into the spark plug tubes from the valve cover. They were able to fix the leak and replace the coil boots. They also found another oil leak from the oil filter adapter gasket, and were able to get that fixed. The prices were reasonable. They were super thorough and took pictures of all the problems. They did not pressure me into repairs like other repair shops.
Staff is super friendly but that’s where the goodness stops. Went in for an alignment on a Ram Rebel 1500 4x4. Came back with an over $6000 estimate of which $220 for a “Heavy Duty 4x4” alignment was detailed. I’ve been driving for over 50 years and ain’t never referred to a half ton 4x4 pickup as a heavy duty! Hope they take my name out of their computer system as I asked because I will never grace the doors of this building with my presence again! Good luck to those that do.
Where to start. Excellent service and car is running like new. Very honest and saved me from fixing something that didn't need fixing. My dad has taken vehicles to them when they were in there old location and now I'm taking my car because of the YEARS of Excellent service they provide. Fair pricing with super fast service. If I could put 10 stars i would put 20.
Words cannot begin to express how honest friendly and transparent this shop is. I will never take a European car anywhere else. They specialize in Mercedes, BMW and more. Spraggins Auto Repair went above and beyond in helping me with my BMW X5. Their technicians are very knowledgeable and explain everything that is recommended, while allowing you to choose what is a priority repair and within your budget. Honesty is rare these days, but there is no shortage of it at this shop!

Incredible customer service and experience. Bar none in thoroughness and quality ethical business practices. We had major repairs done on our vehicle (near $2000) and our vehicle is better than new. After something went wrong in my car, I had it taken in on a wrecker. They did require some money upfront to special order a part for my car. After fixing the critical problem they did a thorough inspection of a car, revealing several issues that could've caused some very big problems very soon.
I asked a million questions to Kevin, and he explained them patiently and in a way I could understand
When I got my car back it run way better, smoother, and quieter than before and they even cleaned the inside before giving it back to me. It took a week and a half which considering the volume of problems was quick.
It's like having a whole new car!!
We’ve been using Spraggins Auto Repair for over ten years now, and they have always been fantastic! Most recently I pumped half a tank of watered down gas into my truck, which killed it pretty quickly. We were able to drop it off after hours on a Sunday night. They called me a few times to keep me updated and they had my truck running better than ever by Monday afternoon, and for less than they estimated! They are honest, friendly, and very professional. I was stuck in a bad situation, and they made it so much better! Thank you!!!
Spraggins has been the car Repair place I trust for my vehicles for many years now. They have always been up front and helpful. Tony and Tony can be trusted and that goes a long way.

I had to get the axles replaced on my 2004 Nissan Sentra.
Two bolts were the wrong size, and I had them replace them. They charged $120 in labor.
They checked the suspension alignment and charged $120 for labor.
They torqued the bolts and charged $120 for labor.
They aligned the front wheels and charged $120 for labor.
My guess is they charge $120 per hour.
They also charged an hour to replace each axle and another hour to replace each tie rod end (4 hours total).
They are friendly and did good work, but you better have insurance on your vehicle.

Got my heater core replaced, was diagnosed and repaired several days sooner than I had expected and under my set budget price. Very good work and I’m beyond satisfied. They also troubleshot, and fixed my radio on the spot, free of charge. These are genuinely good guys to work on your car. The mechanic named Joshua came out in the rain to help me and my fiancé trouble shoot our car that was not starting when picking up the car that just got fixed. Dude was absolutely not taking a tip out of my hand. Really satisfied with this shop. I’ll be bringing all my vehicles here in the future.
I love that they did a full diagnostic and sent you the results for you to see instead of just telling you. The guys in the shop are so friendly, you can rest assure that you are in a good place. They worked my 3rd party warranty company and before giving my car back said the owner himself drove it to make sure they were comfortable giving it back to me. I'm thankful to have great people who are honest and willing to go above and beyond to get you back on the road.
Spraggins is the best place to take your vehicle in my opinion. They are awesome at diagnosing and do exactly what needs to be done. Never had a problem from there and the staff is so helpful and friendly. You get what you pay for here and that's great service!

My Jeep needed brake work. They serviced it in May $600+ The brakes smelled bad since the service. It got to the point that it was overwhelming and a safety concern from the heat it was producing. My wife called and they said it might take some time for the smell to go away. Nope! We took it back and they thought they needed another $320+ to replace the calipers. The manager/owner wanted to argue this fact with me. "Well you should have brought it back sooner." Also idiotic conversation on how brakes work. How about caring about your customers, I do everyday in my occupation. Should have fixed it right the first time. And your mistake should not cost me $320+. We are done with the typical mechanic nickel and dime. Just taking advantage of people.

I reached out to several places for quotes on a car repair. Spraggins not only responded quickly but it was Tony (the owner) himself who called me. We discussed the issue with the vehicle and what it would most likely take to repair it. I decided to go with Spraggins and it was a decision I'm glad I made. The entire staff was friendly and knowledgeable and (the best part) there were no "oh we also did this while we were in there" fees. Everything that was done was approved by me and they brought to my attention things that might need attention in the future. I am grateful for Tony and his team and will definitely be returning here for my future vehicle repair and maintenance needs.
I inherited my Papa's 1974 Ford Bronco and Tony and his team brought it back to life. Extremely reasonable, stayed in contact with us through out the whole process about what they were doing and cost. Very reasonable price wise and trust worthy. He will be our mechanic from now on. Love that its a Christian family owned and operated business.
These guys are awesome. I dropped my car off Friday evening and it was finished before noon on the following Monday. I dealt with Zack and Tony. Both are very professional. Any other shop would have charged me 3 to 4 times what Spraggins did. Do yourself a favor and take your business to these guys. You won't be disappointed.
