This place is great. Honest and professional. They communicate everything they are doing and why with pictures if needed. No shock value when you go to pay. They let you know the cost before anything is done.
We had a 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander develop problems with the air conditioning system, so since we needed to get a “second opinion” we took it to Blackbear Automotive. We decided to have Blackbear do the work and within a day or so we were good to go. However, it turned out it wasn’t that simple, as the AC quit working within a few days and there were other issues associated. Long story short, the guys at Blackbear worked tirelessly to chase down the real problem, which turned out to be a very hard to detect leak in a high pressure line. Once we got the OUT OF PRODUCTION part located, Blackbear got it installed and the AC system working like new! While this sounds like it could’ve been crazy expensive in labor costs, Blackbear did it all for a VERY fair price.
We will be back to Blackbear for all of our future vehicle maintenance and repair needs.

Left my car there from eight in the morning till 530 never was seen gave me the runaround saying we’re gonna check it after hours. Makes no sense that I left my car there for eight hours. Nothing was done. This is ridiculous and on Call for I’ve heard many things about this company Price Gouging i’ll never come back to this place ever again first I take my car to get fixed for a signal switch because somebody in there told me that that’s what’s gonna fix the problem and it didn’t now they want to charge me to get a diagnose, but it wasn’t done ridiculous Very disgusted. Don’t go to this place ever.

UPDATE ! Another great experience on July 14, 2025. My car wouldn't start, dead in my driveway. Asad sent Randy to jump it off, drove it to the shop. A new battery was installed, all this in less than 45 Minutes !!!! THAT IS SERVICE !! A+. BlackBear Automotive is simply the best ! Owner Asad & Manager Edwin are first class ! Honest , professional , courteous service ! I will not take my business anywhere else.
This review is long overdue, I have been coming here for probably 4 years now and each visit has always been great. The staff cares about doing their best, they have top notch communication, and are so fast + timely. Each time my vehicles have been serviced by them, the work is well done.

This place has excellent customer service. One of my clients and bosses highly recommended it by honesty and personable.They diagnosed a problem possibly related to the fuel pump on my 2020 Toyota Camry and gave me suggestions and good options to resolve my problem and only do what the car really needs. They are honest and personable and the only place I will bring my vehicle in for anything it needs. I am happy to have a dependable and trustworthy automotive shop near my neighborhood .They also have staff to speak Spanish, which was very helpful for me to understand more technical details in my own language.Th
My car was burning oil and I was going through a quart or more a week. Blackbear diagnosed the pistons as being the problem. Instead of charging me thousands of dollars to rebuild the engine, they cleaned the pistons with a chemical and replaced the sparks plugs. All for less than a thousand dollars. I have driven the car for 3 weeks now and have driven up to College Station and the oil level has not dropped at all. It's nice to find a business that looks to help you instead of price gauging.
This place is incredible. They are honest and personable and the only place I will bring my vehicle in for anything it needs. Thank you guys, its really nice to know we have a dependable and trustworthy automotive shop near our home.
Best automotive repair shop I’ve ever used! I have a company fleet of vehicles as well as a few personal so I’ve been through my fair share of mechanic shops. I tried this shop the first time because they promised a quick turnaround on one of my company trucks and they delivered. Not only are they very quick and knowledgeable but the prices are extremely fair. The shop is very clean and Assad and Edwin are very knowledgeable and communication is great! They make me look good every time I recommend them to my family and friends! Figured after about 5 or more major repairs a review is long overdue.

This is the most amazing place to get your car fixed. Everytime i need to get a check up on my car or something i’m worried about they provide the best service i have ever had. 100% recommend BlackBear Automotive for any fixes for your car.
A/c wasn’t working and they did everything to diagnose and repair my vehicle. Kept me informed every step of the way and best part is they did two things and didn’t even charge me for labor since it didn’t fix the problem. All in all I would definitely come back and recommend my family to Black Bear.
Another note is they kept my car from Thursday through Tuesday and didn’t even charge me a storage fee like other mechanic shops.

First of all, I'd like to apologize to the owner and staff for this late review. I had been having A/C issues. Other shops frightened me away with their price quotes along with other things that they would have to do. The Bear came up with a 3 tier process to get the job do. I was skeptical because none of the other shops mentioned anything about the compressor. Not wanting to deal with another summer with no A/C, I gave the permission to move forward. I got my truck and it been nearly two where I haven't had any issues. It's nice having the option of adjusting the thermostat. I think I've found my automotive shop. Thanks guys!!!
The guy's at Blackbear Auto are great. They call you back when they say they will and provide parts and estimates before repairing.
We've used them for four of our family car's, most recently my VW rear brakes that ceased up. Fixed the issue quickly and were able to salvage parts & saving us money. Nice to have a mechanic you can trust!!!
Absolutely Do Not Recommend!
I brought my car here for a simple suspension replacement (shocks, struts) and they ended up forgetting to put back the pinch bolt for the front suspension which is how the spindle is attached to the strut.
In other words, my suspension was just floating around instead of being clamped down and doing its job and now my car is damaged and it's costing me a little over $5600 in parts and labor to repair/replace damaged components.
I ended up taking it to a dealer for a suspension inspection since I had almost gotten into an accident from the instability of the front tires and that is how I found out. Luckily I had not had to drive at high speeds since everything I need is near me but beware if taking your car to this location. Their negligence could cost you your life.
Super fast and friendly service. Got two of our cars done and inspected in 30 minutes flat! Clean restrooms and nice waiting area with free coffee, tea and drinks while you wait. Loved them and will be back next time I’m in South Shore.
I've used them for multiple vehicles for inspections, oil changes and minor issues that don't require dealer service. Today, they topped off my coolant at no charge and had me in and out in 10 minutes. Their customer service and friendliness are top notch. Glad to have them in the neighborhood.
I went into BB for a simple oil change because I didn’t feel like getting oily hands and having to dispose of the oil so I took them up on their $20 off coupon deal. I thought great, a quick oil change and I’m off. Note: I do all my own mechanical work on my 2003 Jaguar SK8. This was right before Covid hit or I would have taken them to court over this because I was so infuriated. While it was in their shop I was called up and was told I needed a new drive belt because it was chaffing and the shock pads on the upper end of my front shocks need replacing. This fascinated me because I recently replaced these items within the previous three to four months. So when I got back up to their shop we opened the hood of my car and the drive belt showed damage like would be created by a tool approximately the same size as a number six screw drive was held in place against a bracket and it cut a perfect width groove cut into the belt and the rubber bumpers on the upper end of the shock absorbers were literally melted by Some sort of chemical. I assure you I show the following pictures to anyone who say they going to the black bear for mechanical service. They create extra work for themselves by damaging your cars. They can lie to you and feel confident in doing it. It is allowed in their society and faith. Do not trust them. I know because I am Arabic myself. They will lie to gain business. They will be caught but please be careful by choosing to use them at all. There are other shops out there so why even take the chance using this shop. They have a lot of positive reviews but believe me there are as many negative reviews but the negative reviews don’t usually get written until we are reminded to do so. Like I was. I’m adding a couple pictures for your review. It took me four days to repair the damage they created plus another $350. Don’t let them roll you. Take pictures of your engine before you put your car in. Hide cameras and record them doing the work. They are unworthy of your trust. The first is exterior of strut housing where the rubber bumper was installed. The second is a picture of Inside of the housing where the rubber melted inside the cover and the last is the formed puddle of rubber. I can’t find the pictures of the drive belt so do what you may but be careful and be warned. Go somewhere else. If I could give less than 1 star I would. Good luck.
Blackbear Automotive is great. Courteous and professional service. They offer transportation if needed. Full service facility. Timely service. I took my car in for its annual inspection and took the paperwork across the street to Randall's to get the registration and went back to Blackbear and put it on for me. I tried to tip them and they wouldn't accept. Highly recommended.
Everyone here was EXTREMELY helpful, I'm 23 and its the first time I've never felt 'taken advantage' of at an automotive store, everyone here is so helpful, Edwin and the store owner went above and beyond helping me with my car, extremely fast service. Had quite a few issues with the underneath of my car and they fixed it in such a timely manner. I will always recommend this place to family and friends, if you're looking to bring your car here, definitely do it. Definitely the perfect auto place and mechanics for the south shore area.
I went here because my check engine light was on and I wanted to be sure my car wasn’t going to break down. They fully took care of my car and we’re extremely helpful in explaining what was going on each step of the way. They were even able to text me about my car while I was at work, so I didn’t have to stay there all day. It was definitely a great experience. They’re not the cheapest repair place, so if you’re looking for a bargain, you should probably look elsewhere. But if you’re looking for someone to confidently fix your car, without trying to upsell you on anything, that also has friendly helpful customer service, this is the place to go.
I've being using Blackbear for a couple of month now, I've been very impressed with their service and courtesy. Very pleased with the work they have done and their pricing. They have a great courtesy shuttle, they have taken me home, picked me up, and even dropped my truck off to me. Every time I've been there they have been great to deal with. I will continue to use this shop for my truck in the future.
