I went there to recycle some scrap metal I had like pots/pans/hardware. I didn’t really do it for the money, so I can’t speak to how good their rate is compared to other places. I’ve been there a couple times and normally get a couple dollars per visit. The process was smooth and quick and I recommend going there if you want to more responsibly dispose of your materials.

Wow rude staff you have here. I didn't know where to go and they are very rude. The guy unloading my truck is friendly. That's it nobody else.

I am leaving this review based on prices that C&D at Sugarland pays. For the past months, I have been suspicious that c and d was paying a lot less than what the metals I had were worth. So I compared their prices today with national iron and metals in Katy. Today is April 29, 2024. I called both locations for limited metal types and this is the result. C&D Sugarland Extruded aluminum $.47 a pound Aluminum cans $.26 a pound Cast aluminum $.25 a pound Painted aluminum $.25 a pound Ferrous Scrap 0.065 cents a pound National Iron and metals in Katy, Texas Extruded aluminum $.72 a pound Aluminum cans $.65 a pound Cast aluminum $.52 of a pound Painted aluminum, sorry didn’t ask ferrous scrap $0.08 a-pound So clearly, a huge difference in prices. Now I am sure that convenience is a big factor here. And that is how C&D probably can afford buying metal at these prices. But it clearly wouldn’t take much weight of these metals to make a difference to make it worth it to go to national iron and metals in Katy. I gave them two stars because the facility is very clean and organized. This review is based on prices they pay. Thank you for reading

Unfortunately they messed up the sugar land c and d metal totally it's sad. New owner but new mess. Smh yep Andy I can. The other way was faster and more productive. This way the pad at times doesn't work to check you in takes longer. They need to be in the booth again. Then 2 cranes are not servicing the cars/trucks to get unloaded faster for everyone! Then 1 crane operator drops stuff back on our trailer!! I would rethink how wonderful it was before the change!!

I've been going to this place for years. Never. Was it ever mistaken by weight? All- of a sudden CND takes it over and just yeah, weight is way off big disappointment. They thrive by theft

Look, the process is simple and easy. Check in weigh, unload, weigh out, and collect money. But how can their prices be so low when they are such a "big buyer" with three locations? I would think they get a better price from their handler than their competitors. Honestly the biggest issue is the prices. Facility is great, process is easy, they have done good improvements in the last 6 months, but ultimately, it's the prices that keep people coming back, and until they become competitive again, this will be most likely my last trip here.

Very friendly staff. Very clean location. Easy to drop off scrap metal and broken appliances.

I took 5 large bags of cans and was given a ticket for 13lbs. I weighed one bag and it was over 25lbs. This was my first time going to this place. They will cheat you. If I use them again I will make sure that I look at the scale which is hidden. How much more can they make by cheating people? Shame

Hauled in a load of mostly aluminium items and got paid for tin price.Only $35.00 for a whole load very disappointing. I can see how they have three locations from shorting customers.

Talk about easy. You pull up. Drive on the scale Then unload. In my case they assisted with a manager overseeing everything. Expedited the experience. Never had a recycling center run as smooth as this. I was back at the office within 30min. Hands down. Exceptional process. I left out the fact they re weigh you vehicles leaving and they pay for the difference in weight. Smooth easy and efficient. Seriously way better then other places I’ve been with trashed equipment.

I’ve been coming to this location for the better part of six years. I’ve come here knowing this was one of the lower paying scrap yards in a 30 mile radius. But for me it was fine as it was quick and convenient. The time I would save coming here to recycle metal was more valuable to my business than the cash we get. Since the merger with C&D I’ve noticed a steady decline in how this business runs. It now takes on average 30-45 minutes to get out of the facility…longer if you are going through the exotic line. It’s organized and being run poorly. Changes are being made weekly. From the direction you drive onto scale to the greeter at the gate who checks you in. I believe a large portion of the bottleneck is caused by the mass layoffs that came after merger. Since merging with C&D every position that a customer would have interaction with minus 1 excavator operator and one cashier has been replaced. From what I’ve heard from employees is the company has been letting go of higher paid (tenured) operator level employees or positions that are “un-needed”….like the first layoff; the gentleman in the scrap area who directed traffic making sure customers were backing in with enough space so multiple vehicles could unload at once, helped customers without small truck loads of scrap get unloaded and ensured the ground was free of debris that excavator had trouble picking up. Now it’s common that 1-2 customers can enter any given time due to bad parking practices by customers. Now, if a elderly person is in front of you with a washing machine, you’ll need to pack a lunch as they will have to wait for a excavator to unload them. Before this wouldn’t be a problem as a employee could help them move through the process in minutes. This employee added a lot of value and I can’t imagine this employee made anymore then $12-$15 per hour. Or the greeter (older gentleman) who had been with company for over 10 years, who directed traffic, got people checked in, on and off scales for payout. Not only was he essentially the face of the company but he kept traffic moving. These are only two examples. I can create a laundry list of examples of these kinds of decisions that directly impacted the efficiency and customer experience. The cost savings from these changes cannot be ticking the needle. I would be willing to be that these cuts have saved the company less then $5000 per month. Which at a company who’s generating the revenue this one should be, is not making improvements to the bottom line. Your trying to cut fat, but you have cut into fat and it’s impacting your customers. I’ve set up and ran companies in three different countries and I can see the changes you are making are not helping your employees, they are not helping your customers and they can’t be saving a material amount of cash. So why do them? Take care of the people and processes that take care of you. Do better.

went in to sell aluminum and scrap metal in and was highly disappointed. weight was off by about 30 lbs. I have my own scale. So not sure why there was issues but I do know they underpay big time. decided to just take it as learning experience and will not be going back. hope this helps others.

Probably it’s will be my the last time on this place. since was taking over by C&D. Price’s in recycling material it not worth your effort. I air conditioning tech. Per year I am receiving @79.00 cents por pound on clean aluminum coil. Now @.20.

The scale on the way out is off by at least 40-50 pounds. They sent me through the wrong lane and on the way out without unloading anything it was 40lbs less. That means they are getting you for fake weight.

I only gave them a 1 to share. Will never go here again. Very shady and dishonest. Holmes road is always fair they pay you for all the weight and pay way more than this low down under handed place. Told the ppl up front how dishonest they were in the back just shrugged her shoulders. Don't waste your time.

Overall good experience, I just needed special assistance with a forklift which took a bit but I don’t think that is any impact to their service

They give the lowest rates available. Tested them then out today to see what they are like. I brought in 40 pounds of clean steel. The steel was a DJ truss that I was no longer using. They gave $0.07 a pound. $2.80 was not worth the drive over there. They categorized it as just scrap.

Anything that is "silver" and is not steel will be considered aluminum and pays like $0.15 a pound if your lucky. They will not tell you or sort #1 and #2 copper, its all just #2 or worse. Its day by day if you come out on top, most likely you'll lose. Definitely not a "fair" yard. They win on the price side, and on the weight side and still let you fail. Its a Shame.

I proceed slowly with much circumspection upon the agregate surface that was no doubt in league with the possible sharp objects carelessly dropped from fossil fuel powered behemoths, that surely could destroy the tires on my poor little passenger car, loaded with 120lbs of scrap steel, as the sign clearly warned about and claimed no liability for. I drove towards a man wearing an orange safety vest, hoping for direction, he placed a magnetic car hat on the roof of my small sedan, #14 it read, and told me to go that way as he pointed vaguely towards a mountain of metal, with giant cranes, bulldozers and dump trucks (that brought to my mind a herd of dinosaurs feasting at a dinosaur graveyard), go that way and turn right. Slowly and with much trepidation I headed towards the commotion as large trucks, some carrying other large trucks and things sped past me on my left, with much deliberation and reading of signs I found an open door to the building on my right and was directed to back up to it, which I did, and unloaded my cache onto a large scale where they weighed it and told me to drive around the building to the office to get paid. Upon arriving near the office I see a gray haired man about five and a half feet tall holding a bloody towel to his forehead, blood covering not only his shirt but his trousers, also heading for the office, where he sat down on a bench and was soon met by a taller man dressed in khakis and a button up shirt, wearing a hard hat and carrying a pen and clipboard. I collected my $7.26 and got back in my car, noticing my now filthy floor mats.

The majority of the people that work there are Hispanic, so STOP saying they treat you differently because you are Hispanic when infact they are Hispanic to.. I am a caucasion, Fort Bend Recycling and metals pays the best prices from Southwest down to dickinson. Its just a fact. Also, if you dont know how the market works dont complain about the prices until you do understand how the market works. Prices change from day to day. Copper can be $1.25 a pound today and then $0.25 cents the next day. Prices vary from day to day. Know your business and do your research before you judge and complain.

I believe they dont have set prices and they pay you based on what they feel. I've taken insulated #2 cable to them in the past and was paid 1.25 a pound. This last time the guy tells me they can only pay .65 a pound for the same cable. Don't waste your time. Take to C&D

I am a recycler and I do it as a hobby. I go to a different place to recycle. I have been doing it for about 3 years. I went to this recycling center for the first time this past weekend. I like this place better than the other place that I thought was great. This was better. I will be going here from now on. It was clean compared to the other recycling places I have been to, well organized, and it was a fast process. Regarding the comment about Hispanics being treated in a rude manner, I am Hispanic. I read your comment before I went there and I had a pre-conceived notion that I was going to be treated in a bad way due to your comment and kind of hesitant about going there. I took a chance and went there and I did not experience any of the staff being rude. The ladies at the weighing ramp for iron were helpful and the guys at the recycling ferrous metals (copper, brass, etc.) place were also great. My 2cents....the guy in the white Toyota truck...
