I had an excellent experience with Murdock Automotive. They replaced my tension belt and pulley at a reasonable price and completed the repair very quickly. Their service was far superior to Firestone. Firestone charged me over $700 and made me wait five hours, only for the part to fail within three months. I had to replace it again with Murdock due to Firestone's poor-quality parts.
Just had my classic 1967 Ford Falcon Futura Sports Coupe in for a couple of repairs.
They were glad to work on it where other places didn't want to touch it due to its age.
The repairs were easily made in one day's time. The car drives great and has brake lights again.

Spent just over $1,000 to “fix” a check engine light issue. They were sure it was an issue w/ the intake manifold gasket. I was so sure they’d fix the check engine issue that’d long been bothering me that I had them change the spark plugs too while they still had it in their shop. Long story long, still having to get my inspection done in a rough part of town to get it to pass…

I recently took my 2014 Kia Forte EX to Murdock and Son Automotive for repairs, and I couldn't be more pleased with the experience. We dropped off the car a little after 10 AM, and Richard had it fixed and ready for us by 1:30 PM. The service was incredibly fast and efficient.

First of all, I live in McKinney - with hundreds of mechanics between me and Garland - and Murdock & Son is 100% worth it. When I first got my 1999 Ford F-250 about 3 years ago, I took it there upon the previous owner's recommendation. Great experience. Then I got a little lazy, and it got harder to get over that way. Took Big Blue to local mechanics with not so great results. Had a recent issue and had it towed to Murdock & Son. Their office and the owner bent over BACKWARDS to deal with my questions, my hesitations, and helping me figure out next steps - whether they fixed it or I sold it. This is about my son’s experience, which is why I’m going there next week. My so thought he had a fuel pump problem, but he didn’t. They could have told him anything and charged an exorbitant price. They didn’t! The problem was identified and fixed, in less time than he expected. What they provided for him went beyond fixing the issue. They provided him with fairness, honesty, and integrity! One of the best mechanics I've ever had to come to. Always so nice, honest and effective. My car had an issue with the oil pressure, they resolved it and when my car had issues after that they followed up and fixed them and got me on my way. One of the best mechanics in Dallas
Had an emergency situation with my son's F150 and went to them with no appointment. They jumped right on the truck and told us to give them til noon to figure out the issue. They diagnosed the issue and repaired the problem at a reasonable rate. I really appreciate working with Lisa and Doug as I live in Tyler and my son works in the metroplex. Honest automotive repair services are difficult to find. I've had several repairs done here and have always been impressed with the honesty and up-front candor. In a dire situation or just not understanding my issue, I always get the plain truth, and even a little instruction on how I should monitor a possible larger issue. I feel fortunate to have found Murdock & Son and will always come back.
Note: Edited after working with Laurie to resolve the windows issue mentioned below. Happy to report they fixed my windows and were very kind about it!
I originally brought my Lexus RX 350 in because my a/c was blowing hot. They assured me there was no leak and charged me for a freon charge and sent me on my way. When it started blowing hot a few days later, I returned and suddenly they'd found a leak. I understand now that sometimes if the leak is in a certain spot, it can take a while to show up. I didn't realize that at the time, which is why I was frustrated. They fixed the a/c issue, but I was upset that when I got my car back a week later, my dash was broken and glued back in places. I understand now this is a common problem with Lexus models around my year. I would have preferred and appreciated they warn me about some damage beforehand, but at least now I understand it wasn't poor work.
After I got it back, my back power door wasn't working. I returned and they fixed that. I didn't realize until after that, that 3 of my 4 power windows didn't work either. After writing a review about my experience, Laurie contacted me and offered to make sure the windows were working properly and I'm happy to say they are now. Thanks for making this right!

I went here to get my brake pads and rotors changed, after a little while Doug came back and brought to my attention that my axle was bent and gave me options to see what I wanted to do, so I went ahead and they ordered the part and fixed that too. They got it done within the day and they were reasonably priced. Everyone was super professional and they explained everything I needed to know. I'll definitely be coming back here for future repairs.
Last night my truck starting sputtering out going up an incline. I was up all night researching (and stressing) about what it could be. I stayed up late researching reputable mechanics close to my job. I had barely made it to the shop and was waiting outside for them to open. I have a love/ hate relationship with my truck. More on the love tho...anyhow Doug was able to get her going back strong again. He suggested something and it was definitely what he mentioned before he looked at it. Ignition coil and he even suggested some upcoming maintenance which I also was aware it needs. I will be coming here for all my oil changes and not some random place who doesn’t know their customers. They genuinely care about customers and they take great pride in their work. THANK YOU for being so fast and courteous to me. It is appreciated.
Laurie and Mark are truly wonderful people! Very professional and quick when I needed help fixing my recent cash car purchase. The car is in much better condition thanks to them, and for a reasonable price on multiple fixes! I cant wait to use this awesome business in the future!
I never had a regular mechanic until I came across Murdock & Son. They are very honest and upfront with repairs. The first time I took my Dodge Ram in to get the heater checked, they actually talked me out of a $2000 repair because the problem would most likely happen again. That sealed it for me. I had never had somebody talk me out of spending money at a business.
Another time I had a leaky radiator, called them to make an appointment, and they were already ordering the part before I even delivered my truck to their shop. And then they had the truck repaired within 1 day. Repairs rarely take more than 2 days unless they are completely swamped with work.
They always called to confirm pricing before starting repairs and call again when repairs are complete. They are great. Everyone from the shop to the front desk always go above and beyond to help get me back on the road.
Highly recommended.
Murdock and Son is the best mechanic I've ever been to. I took a car I was looking to buy here, and they gave it a thorough inspection and test drive free of charge, and gave me a full rundown of everything about the car. Very friendly, professional, and clearly showed their expertise. Plus I was given some excellent advice and left knowing that Murdock and Son cares about its customers in a way that is rare nowadays. Weren't looking to get anything out of me, they just wanted to make sure I was taken care of, this place is as high quality as it gets when it comes to service.
