What clients say about 1st Choice Towing in Melissa (TX)

I used 1st Choice Towing a couple of years ago and recently had to call them again. I would still give them five stars without hesitation. Their rates are very reasonable, and they took great care of my vehicle, making sure it got safely from point A to point B. Both times, the drivers were polite, professional, and easy to work with. The two gentlemen who towed my car were courteous and handled everything efficiently. On top of that, their pricing was about $100 cheaper than other towing companies in the area. If I ever need a tow or roadside service again, I’ll definitely be using 1st Choice Towing. Highly recommend.

Horrible company. Be careful with this company they are doing business with a dot guy in McKinney. They don’t want to provide their names .

After my negative encounter with the driver of this company, I wanted to come here and leave sarcastic, negative, condescending remarks, however after time to breathe and pray over the matter, I won’t, I will be a person who believes and honors Jesus Christ, and I will only share my truth and experience Aftter reading the reviews, it saddens me and comforts me to see that other people have had the same negative experience as I had with this company on the road As a fellow business owner, I understand how much reviews can impact a company, & I want yall to know, I will be praying for yall tonight, and tomorrow at church, as it will be sunday, It’s unfortunate that your driver, and your company’s actions almost drove me, my wife, and newborn daughter off the road, whatever emergency you may have been attempting to get to, in my opinion is not worth the reckless driving we experienced and witnessed With that, as much as it hurts to have had my family experience that fear on the road, as the Lord forgives, I forgive you, However I cannot in good faith, leave a recommendation, nor stars on your company - sincerely, a combat veteran of the united states, father, and husband If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.” — Romans 12:18 (a photo the non driver in my car took, to confirm this was your reckless driving) God Bless

I am appalled by the behavior exhibited by one of your drivers today. It is utterly unacceptable that my wife was subjected to such blatant disrespect and aggressive conduct on the road. While she was driving, this driver not only cut her off but also had the audacity to yell at her when he noticed her race. This kind of behavior is not just rude; it's a clear display of racial bias and discrimination that has no place in our society, let alone from someone representing your company. As my wife maneuvered around some slow trucks exactly as the driver did moments before he resorted to making baseless accusations, claiming she was driving recklessly. The irony is staggering, especially since her driving was entirely justified and safe. But what’s more disturbing is the threat he leveled against her, saying she needed "Jesus" and that she better be careful before "before someone does something to her. This is not only offensive but deeply alarming. My wife has recorded the entire incident, which serves as evidence of this driver's unprofessional and hostile attitude. It raises serious concerns about the training and oversight of your drivers. How can a company allow its employees to behave in such a manner? This incident highlights a severe lack of respect and accountability that must be addressed immediately.

The office staff as well as the tow truck operator were very kind and professional with their services. Cost of services was extremely reasonable... Definitely would use again if I find myself in a predicament.

Despite the negative reviews I had seen beforehand, I found myself in need of a tow and decided to give 1st Choice Towing a try after contacting three other local towing companies—each of which had higher ratings. Surprisingly, none of them answered their calls or returned my messages. From the moment I spoke with the dispatcher, I was met with professionalism and prompt service. Shortly after, the driver Derek arrived. He was a kind and respectful gentleman who not only handled my vehicle with the utmost care but also showed genuine empathy during a stressful situation. His calm demeanor and engaging conversation made a difficult time much easier to endure. Based on my personal experience, I would absolutely recommend 1st Choice Towing, regardless of their online reviews. They came through when others didn’t—and delivered excellent service.

I haven't even dealt with these people fully yet and they're already a nightmare. Their address on Google is where we headed to. It is the wrong address. asked the collision repair that was in that center where they were located and they said they moved to McKinney. Which is closer than Melissa. Called 1st choice after travelling an hour from Desoto, only to be told that we could not get our things today because it's after 3. I asked if she could please just work with us because of how far we travelled because of the fact that the address was wrong on Google , and she said "we just don't have the staff" ... But she's there so why can't she help us?? They're literally already trying to scam us out of more money and it makes no sense. They don't do personal item release during weekends either.. which is when most people are off of work. Ill be damned if I'm not going to get my stuff from this place one way or another. Ill probably end up getting law enforcement involved so I can just get my stuff because #1 they do not own my stuff and they have no rights to my stuff or car. Would not recommend these people to anyone.

Car was towed from an accident by this company contacted by Princeton PD. From the beginning, it was a nightmare trying to get access to the car to get out personal belongings. I was declined entry 4 times so make sure you have the following before wasting your time: only insured can gain access, name on the driver's license must match EXACTLY to insurance. My legal first name is Deborah but my insurance was Debbie so I was denied yet again, they won't let you in if it's raining, they are only open M-F 9a to 3p. Princeton needs to change companies. These guys are below par at best.

Totally illegal, they require documents not even required to release a vehicle. They refuse us picking up a vehicle because we called them out on being illegal. Ripped up our paperwork and told us to leave our they'll call the cops

The worst towing company to work with ever, they are liars and don’t properly document anything. I gave them permission to release my vehicle to my insurance 4 different times on same day of the accident with two different people, twice by phone, twice in person, not one employee wrote down my insurance could pick up the vehicle. My insurance tried picking up next day, they were turned away because they were told I did not give permission to release the vehicle. Which was NOT true. My vehicle has sat for a week! A week! Peoples lives have been held up because of this, I still can’t get a new vehicle until this one is picked up. My insurance can’t do their job, and all so they can get more money? I had my insurance agent on speaker on my cell with 1st Choice on speaker on my home phone. The tow company says my insurance company is lying (this is also why the tow company won’t take 3 way calls with insurance) and if insurance showed up with the documents they’d release the vehicle same day, yet they just said I didn’t give permission so they wouldn’t release so which one is it? I can’t stand the corruption and dishonesty of this world we live in, it’s corrupting all the way down to the small town. I’m disappointed you guys used to be better, You no longer care about the people you serve and it shows.

Not at all surprised that the rudest people alive working in a tow yard. My truck was towed here after a wreck. After they denied my partner access to the truck, I had to leave work and come in. They then told me that my partner couldn't help not come with me to get the belongings out of the truck. When I told her that I have a heavy truck bed toolbox in there that I will need help with I was immediately met with "I don't need the attitude"... attitude because I am trying to explain why the other person listed on the title will absolutely be retrieving our belongings with me? Terrible experience. Darrell is the only decent person I spoke to during the whole encounter.

Nick came out within 30m of dispatch with a flatbed truck and took my car from Melissa to West Plano. He was friendly and walked me through the after hours drop process at the dealership. Never a great time when you need a tow, but Nick made the experience as painless as possible.

Terrible experience... My son was in an auto accident and they were the towing company zoned to pick up the vehicle. My son went to get his belongings out of his vehicle and was told he needed a paper copy of the insurance card. I left work brought a paper copy at which they proceed to make a copy of and hand me back the paper copy. They then tell me he cannot go back into the yard to get his belongings due to the fact he is under my insurance policy and his last name is different than mine. His first name was on the printed insurance policy and his address on his ID was the same as the address. But they still would not accept that as proof. When I went to pay for the vehicle so the salvage yard could obtain it as they have a contract with this particular salvage yard and they deliver the vehicles to them. They told me they could not process until the salvage yard was there to pick up the vehicle. I had to call the salvage yard to explain what was going on. They were kind enough to contact the towing company within 5 mins after speaking to the salvage yard, I was able to tab out. The salvage yard also allowed my son and I to come to their yard to get everything he needed out of his truck with no problems. Shannon and Kendra were the two ladies that we dealt with. They were both extremely rude and inconsiderate. I would never refer anyone to this towing company.

I would leave a negative five stars if possible. This was the absolute most awful experience I have ever had. They have ZERO customer service skills whatsoever, are extremely rude and hateful, are too scared to let you speak to the manager at 11pm (when they said we could only pick the vehicle up between 11pm and 9am), and have absolutely no clue how to use a fax machine. Not only do they not show any empathy, but they laugh at you when they can tell you are in distress. They will not lift a finger to help your situation at all, but will lift two hands to make it as awful as possible. They don't even have the correct business address on their signs in parking lots. We were also charged a 2 day storage fee, when the vehicle wasn't even on the lot for 16 hours. We've never worked with such a terrible company before or received such awful customer service. Please save your time and money and use a different company.

Impounded vehicle from an auto accident. Their pick up window very small at the end of an unventilated hallway in a metal building. Middle of the day it was over 120° I nearly passed out. Staff was helpful somewhat.

Fast friendly professional service was provided. Took good care of the truck. Did not have to lift a finger. Reasonable rates and family owned. Thank you for your service

I was in an accident on a Friday afternoon in Nevada, TX. The state troopers had my truck towed by this company based in Melissa, TX. Which based on other reviews, sounds like a common theme. I had several personal items in the truck (including my cell phone) so I called Saturday morning to see if they were open. Which they are, but they will not let anyone on their lot to grab personal items on the weekend due to limited staff. Which is fair, most businesses operate M-F. So I drive up there Monday morning - it was sprinkling rain. I get there and the lady at the front desk informs me we cant go out to my truck due to the rain. They have to account for all items removed from the vehicle (which is reasonable) but they only use pen & paper so since it is raining - they cant go out there. Apparently they cant use an umbrella, cant sit inside the vehicle for shelter, or just use pen/paper & transfer it to a fresh piece when we get back inside the office. I was told this is their policy - she even tried to claim state law. Yeah that law bit isn’t true lol. I told her I need my phone back for work since I hadn’t had it all weekend and pleaded for an exception. She went to the back to ask someone if they can make an exception. She came back, said no. Flat out, no alternatives. So then I asked if she can escort me out there to at least take pictures of my vehicle. She said no, again - policy. This place is a joke. It is sketchy, the people who work there are even sketchier. They do not have a single helpful inclination in their body. Do what I did - HAVE YOUR VEHICLE MOVED ASAP! I called the insurance and had my truck towed to a body shop immediately. And guess what, the body shop let me into my truck to get my things - AND IT WAS RAINING! It is amazing what can happen when you work with a truly honorable business. Do not use this company, there are so many better options out there for towing. And if you are forced to use them due to an accident, have your vehicle moved somewhere else. Do not bother with these people.

The police had my car towed from this company and when I tried to get it out the next day they said I could not because it was impossible to get my car out due to junk around it. This lot was disgusting, a bike was leaning on my car, the price was different than what they told me the night before, the front desk employee was rude and unhelpful!! They tried everything for me not to get my car out! If this was the last towing company in Texas, I wouldn’t use them! The total amount for two nights was $429. DO NOT USE OR LET THE POLICE USE THIS TOWING COMPANY!!

I have used 1st Choice 3x in the past 3 months. Every time they showed up when they said and handled my issues. The most recent tow was for my 1924 Model T, and they handled it with the care it deserves. Highly recommend, great team, will use them for any towing needs moving forward!

Lawsuit against this company incoming. Unqualified and unprofessional I only called this company cause they were 3 minutes away from where I broke down My mechanic has advised me to sue this company for the full damages this business caused me. They stripped out the lugs on my driveshaft attempting to remove and with 3 witnesses seeing it they still charged me hourly for the time it took to damage my truck. They are shady as hell don’t trust after stripping the lugs on my drive shaft I was told it would only take a moment to switch from front towing to back. It was an hour later that the guy finally caught up with us… I was 5 minutes away from filing a police report and he had the nerve to tell me they charge by the hour $170 an hour after stripping the bolts on my drive shaft this is Insane. And again I have 3 witnesses so I’ll be taking this business to court

I rolled my car 3 times. Walked away with 3 broken ribs and a bruised lung. These guys would not allow me to have any assistance retrieving what little I could from the wreckage. Stood there watching me with their arms crossed writhing in pain. Imagine if I had been more seriously injured! I come back after the insurance company calls and makes arrangements to get the rest of my items and they outright deny me access despite texas law requiring them to do so. There were items that seemed to be missing from my vehicle, and based on the ethics, and lack of empathy exhibited by the employees here, I wouldn't be surprised if the workers here stole them. However I have no proof... yet. Being in a serious accident can be extremely traumatic. Being treated like a criminal, for mildly inconveniencing someone to simply retrieve your possessions in a time like that is borderline sociopathic. But what more can you expect from a company that profits from human suffering. Even has a ghastly monument to it that greets you when you arrive. The irony in it all is that while they treat you like a criminal they are actually violating state law. If this has happened to you. You have grounds to sue for cost of possessions, time, and suffering.

Had an accident on hwy 75, highway patrol offered free tow to get my vehicle out of the lane blocking traffic. They took care of the rest the night of the accident. Next morning I looked up the tow service used and was worried about all the negative reviews which caused me much unneeded anxiety. I made the call to 1st choice and confirmed my vehicle was there, had no issue. They answered all my questions. I went down to 1st choice towing on Monday morning to get items out of vehicle and a woman assisted me; didn’t catch her name she had her daughter with her. Extremely pleasant to work with, she made the process easy and explained in detail the steps and came out with me to retrieve my items. This tow company documents what you retrieve I’m sure for liability which was nice. My Insurance company contacted me next day to confirm location and asked if I filled out a release, I wasn’t sure so I called back up the tow company and again they were great letting me know they just needed a verbal so I provided that. Excellent service provided by a humble team. Thanks

This place will tow your car, steal your belongings and then force you to PAY to get your own possessions back, and auction off your car without notice. If you want to keep your car and everything in it, stay far away from this company. Not to mention the employees are extremely rude and will lie to you and try to cheat you out of even more money. Do not trust this company under any circumstances.

Customer service is the least of this business priority. Called a couple days ago to ask if I could bring in the title rather than insurance and they said the title was fine. My dad got there and the lady working yesterday roughly at 3-4pm said she needed the insurance as well. She was rude and didn’t want to assist him filling out any paperwork since he clearly didn’t understand it. Sad to know that the front clerks aren’t willing to help out customers when all they want to do is get their car out and pay the bill and leave. I’m sure if it was that front clerks dad and they didn’t help him out she’d be upset. TREAT OTHERS THE WAY YOU WANT TO BE TREATED. (:

This experience was fantastic. The dispatch was very helpful and got the directions to where I was. I was seriously in the middle of nowhere on a secluded, hard to find road/area. The driver, Chris, was there very quickly and had my car on the flatbed before my wife could get there to pick me up. He even offered my son and I a ride if my wife was to far away. He then got my car to my house and dropped off in no time. Chris was very professional and courteous. If/when I need a towing service again I will definitely be calling them.

Very courteous and professional. Driver helped late night when involved in accident and this was Fairview Police Department’s preferred Tow Company and their demeanor and service reflects why! Awesome driver and next day even asked how I was doing rather just saying hope you’re okay. Walked me through the Wall of Shame and Wall of Fame inside the office and had some amazing stories. Pleasure to talk to and need more people like him. Keep doing what you’re doing!

This company is the absolute filth of the universe, they took my money and then wouldn't release my car to me, my car was impounded for a 4 days and cost me $300 for a regular size sedan and tried to threaten me with the Melissa Police Department who were there by the way when I arrive the second time to pick up my car for no apparent reason and they didn't want to give me a receipt. You better hope your car doesn't get towed because this place is absolute trash and they will try to get over you they don't deserve to be in business I really treasure company and people stay away from them you've been warned. If they're not truly 24 hours of their on call so they should really get rid of that on their page because they don't learn of that

I would give 0 stars if I could. We went here after we got in a wreck and our car was towed here. It was ridiculous trying to even go see it to decide what we wanted to do. They charged so much we had to just waive the fee by selling it to them. It has been 8 months since then and we received mail that we had to renew registration on it! After 8 months they still hadn't claimed that they had bought the car. I had to spend all day trying to transfer the car to their business name! Hey should have done that months ago when they bought it!! I still don't know if it worked. DO NOT TRUST THEM!
