My nephew had his car crashed into this evening; consequently, it was not safe to drive and required a tow. After making a police report and calling insurance, Johnny's Wrecker Service in Universal City dispatched a gentleman by the name of Ethan to provide the service for our tow. He was kind, competent, and professional. He had an exceptional demeanor and was expeditious in completing the job. Thank you so much, Ethan, and many blessings to you and your family and to the wonderful company for whom you work.
Perhaps this company should look into basic driving manners. One of your drivers going southbound on 1604 today a little after 1pm- decided they would speed up to try and get around me when the light turned green, but instead got stuck behind a tesla- almost rear ending them, and decided to blare their horn. Speed limit is 55/60 depending on the construction, and your driver passed me (going over 60) like I was sitting still.
I wouldnt trust putting my bicycle on your trucks, let alone my car. Do better.
This place is a SCAM.

My daughter was in a car accident on Saturday. When we called that day to get a quote for Sunday a lady over the phone quoted me $200 plus an additional $32.
On Sunday morning when I called to confirm my pick up, the same lady advised me there would be an additional fee of $50 to the price.
Mind you, she indicated on Saturday that they were cash only.
When we arrived on Sunday, they attached all sorts of fees totaling $356.01.
The man that was their indicated that he had no idea who I had spoken with but that that was the fee and that he was just going based on what the computer was telling him. .
These people know we need to get our vehicles and take advantage of our vulnerability.
Please record your phone conversations with these people.

We visited an ATM twice to get money out. This is truly a learning experience for your business.
If you are going to say you are cash only, give a complete breakdown so people are given the opportunity to get the correct cash amount out.
This is a SCAM. Funny how I spoke to a women over the phone but when I arrived it was a man. They knew they dis not want to be held accountable for the quote they gave us over the phone.
Take accountability. Be kind to people while still being able to conduct business with integrity.
I was stranded for a few hours and Matt helped so much. My car wasnt starting and I had initially called a different company. That guy looked at the car for 2 secs and just kept saying I had serious mechanical issues, I needed to go to the shop, and that there was nothing he could do. He even got mad at me for calling my parents to have them on the phone while we were trying to figure it out. Matt came through and was patient and very courteous, he looked at every possibility and found a solution to get me up and running with a jump. I appreciate him actually taking the time to be kind and thorough.
Beware, these guys are vultures! Was involved in a 6 car pile up on I-35 just outside San Antonio and they were called to the scene to pick up the cars. They quoted me $300 to take the vehicle to their lot right down the road and $500 to take it Austin. The driver kept pressuring me for an answer as I had my insurance company on the phone to see if it was covered (my first time being in an accident so wasn't sure how things went). I asked if they would give us a ride to the rental car place and the driver said they would leave us at the next exit. They could have cared less about us, our well being, or the product that I needed to get out of the vehicle (I was returning from a convention). All they wanted was the vehicle, that was their money. Then I would have been at their mercy. After the insurance said it was covered, I told them to tow it and then the driver said it would be $700 to take it to Austin. And he wanted to be paid up front! What a freaking vulture to prey on someone when they have no other choice and have had a traumatizing experience in the middle of a interstate!
You better believe I limped that vehicle all the way back to Austin on the back roads. Suck it Johnny's Wrecker Service!
EDIT: Thanks for your response Johnny's Wrecker Service. Your "contracted rate" doesn't account for not having the common courtesy to have your driver take someone to a rental car location as opposed to dropping them off at the next exit.
FYI for anyone out there who may get into an accident in the future, after you make the call to get the police on the scene, call your for your own tow truck. If you've got AAA, towing options through your insurance, or through the warranty through the dealership where you bought your car, it'll be a lot cheaper. Let's bring down the "contracted rate" together by not using vultures trying to make a quick buck off others misfortune.
Stay away, not that we was towed in by the police! It was the customer service like you didn't want to give us our truck. When we called looking for it you act like you didn't wanna say it was there.. ... only until I paid did you have a better attitude.. Have a great day !
Dominick said it may be half an hour, but i think it was more like 10. So fast and so careful. He didnt even mind me checking out his sweet truck. We got where we were going and it was a real tight fit. I told him it was cool to take off and that i could push it into place. He said "Naah, this is a piece of cake." And then it was.

While responding to a car accident (around 4:45pm on Dec. 23rd 2024) they non stop honked their horn at people who were stuck in traffic with nowhere to go.. literally.. no cars could physically move out of the way unless they went completely off road (not possible at this area). He did not care and kept laying on the horn. I felt like this was unnecessary because the honking wasn't helping or fixing anything. I have a child with autism in my vehicle and she was highly upset over the constant honking. I understand them trying to get to the scene to get it clear and get traffic moving but they were acting like they were an ambulance and that lives depended on them getting there as fast as possible. I saw a 2nd wrecker from the same company and they were not honking.
Do better.

The tow truck drivers tailgate you! I just drove home from dropping my son off at school and the driver was right behind me the entire time we were on FM78 and in my neighborhood until he turned down another street. He had to break hard in my neighborhood at the four-way stop I'm sure he didn't even see coming up so he wouldn't rear-end me. He almost hit me and my daughters due to his poor unsafe driving. I have recorded proof. Do better with your drivers!
Was stranded on the side of I35 and driver showed in the timeframe stated. Very professional, friendly and accommodating service. I had a load of nursery plants I was dropping off in Converse, and we swung by to make the delivery in tow. Then dropped delivery truck at transmission shop.
Just wanted to share my experience as I was locked out of my car and this man helped me so quickly to get them out he was just a good person and a god sent for me. He didn’t have to go out of his way as it is pouring rain but he did and didn’t ask for anything in return
After my wreck (on a Friday), I requested that my car be taken to a collision center near my home. The cop just kept telling him to go, and I kept telling him the place near my house. The cop stepped in and said that it would be at their lot and sent him off. Insurance covered one tow to their yard (150.00), then we had to pay for a 2nd tow to the collision center that I requested in the 1st place, plus fees for staying on their lot over the weekend. It came out to about $550.00 for something that should have been done beforehand. What added another night was their card machine had been down for days. It was ridiculous.
Absolutely phenomenal customer service from Daniel @ Johnny’s Wrecker. USAA originally had another tow company out to service me. It was a train wreck of an experience. LONG story short it was 5 hours of absolutely abysmal customer service, after 2 hours 1st tow guy was a no show, add 2 hours more of waiting only to have the 2nd guy show up with an atrociously bad attitude. He was angry to be there. It was truly a struggle with the 1st tow company (steer clear of Lara’s Automotive Busby/Texas Roadside). USAA was gonna dispatch that same company again after the 2nd tow guy couldn’t get my vehicle onto his flatbed without tearing the front trim of my vehicle up. They literally cancelled the service on the spot and the tow guy sped off in the neighborhood. It was an insane experience to say the least. I kindly asked USAA to please send another company instead of re-dispatching the same one.
Johnny’s Wrecker to the rescue for real!!! They spoke to me on the phone, listened to my concerns about the previous struggles with my vehicle, had me send some photos & reassured me. They arrived quick, crazy quick, came prepared & when they arrived they were professional, efficient & friendly. Daniel was all about business and was communicative. He took photos prior to doing his work & saw what the previous tow guy had done to the front of my van & while doing ALL his taskings was cautious & careful. He was extremely mindful to ensure he wasn’t gonna damage anything further. He turned a 6 hour bad event of tow hell (which started at 4pm & finally ended at 10pm)~ & completed the task in less than an hour of tow magic… making miracles happen. I will recommend this company to everyone and anyone & if you get Daniel he is top tier. I was very thankful and are very grateful. Stress melted away.

CUSTOMER Service... On 01/23/24, I scheduled 11am appointment for my Vehicle to be picked up on 01/24/24. To Understand I SCHEDULED an appointment. The Driver showed up at 11:18 Yea LATE. He didn't apologize for being late. While my Vehicle being dropped off. I called the dispatch office and expressed my displeasure of the driver showing up late to my scheduled pick up time. Here is the KICKER Johnny's is about 15 mins away from the pick up location. The dispatcher tries to tell me the driver was on another run and he had to detour because the road he was on was flooded. I let the dispatcher know he shouldn't have been on another run I had a scheduled Appointment. I asked for a partial refund to make things right. The dispatcher told he wasn't going to do that. I said well your going to get a bad review for your POOR customer service. He replied your going to be barred from using our service. I replied like I CARE there are other towing companies In TEXAS. All I can say use this sorry/poor customer service company at your own risk.. Would NOT recommend this place.
Called to get a quote for a tow after blowing a tire with no spare. Gave me the quote and a 30-45min ETA. Dominic showed up right on time and hooked me up super quick. Followed him in my wife's car to the tire shop and paid the quoted price, no hidden fees or anything. Super professional and I will definitely be using Johnny's for any future tows.
Johnny Was Fantastic! Arrived quickly, Very Professional and Kind. Not only did he diagnose my trucks problem, he fixed it on the spot so I could safely drive home. His service doesn't end there, he showed me the part I needed AND let me take a picture of it off his phone so I would be able to get the correct part from the auto parts store!!!! Today my car overheated and USAA Roadside Assistance sent Johnny’s Wrecker Service to assist. The tow truck driver (Dalton) was wonderful! We found him to be professional, pleasant and very proficient. Upon arriving, he greeted us and seemed sincerely sorry for our car trouble but said he’d get us hooked up and off to the shop, which he absolutely did. He worked quickly but carefully as he loaded and secured the car onto the tow truck and was off to the service center.
We arrived a few moments before he did and watched as he politely greeted the gentleman at the shop and asked where they’d like him to park the car. He then took a few quick photos of our vehicle for his records, wished us well with our repairs and was off to the next job. What customer service! If this young man performs his duties to this standard consistently, we recommend that Johnny’s Wrecker Service keep and reward him accordingly. He genuinely represents your company extremely well. Again, thank you for the great tow and customer service.
Our roadside assistance dispatched Johnny’s wrecker service out to us this morning after we locked our keys in our car… embarrassing lol! I was so impressed at how quickly they showed up and were able to handle our issue. My husband was only a few minutes late for work! Thanks for saving our day!
After a car accident I was given their card by Live Oak PD and told they were the closest wrecker company. When the driver arrived I wasn’t sure which body shop I was going to take my vehicle To because it was late night and asked him to take it to my house.He stated he could take it to their tow yard down Pat Booker (About 2 miles away) and I could let them know in the morning where to take it. He stated there wouldn’t be an extra charge. All lies! Once I tried to get it towed to the body shop they wanted another towing fee. I didn’t want to give them any more of my business so I went there to get my car and the owner Ryan tacked in storage fee. Total scam of a wrecker company. Additionally he charged a service fee for using a credit card. Worst towing experience and customer service in my life!
Just got my car towed by Johnny‘s Wrecker tonight. I just want to say about everything including the customer service and the whole towing procedure was nothing but PERFECTION. I’ve spoken to the gentleman Jose on the phone, he was extremely professional, very communicative and was understanding throughout the whole process. My car broke down twice this week and I called two towing companies beforehand but both weren’t interested due to the long 12 mile distance it’ll take from my car location to the mechanic shop. So I’m really grateful that I found Johnny’s Wrecker who were able to accommodate my needs for my vehicle.

Today my car left me stranded. I used USAA roadside assistance to call a tow truck. They sent Johnny's Wrecker Service to assist. When the driver showed up, I told him what my car was doing. He said, I really think it's your battery. Henry took my battery out of my car, towed it to the auto parts store, and put my new battery in my car. He then drove my car off the tow truck. He went far beyond his duty as a tow truck driver. If you all need a great company with an honest driver, use them.
Great service they towed our truck. We were told 30 to 45 minutes eta and their drivers got there in 20 minutes. A new recruit being trained by expert tow truck guy and both were professional. Definitely would use them again.
Don’t use this place. The night dispatcher quoted me a fair price but then didn’t even set me up to get picked up. I had to call back and schedule a time. They called me before scheduled time and said they couldn’t use a slim Jim to open my vehicle and I had to drive halfway across town just to unlock it. Then upon my car getting delivered they charged me $80 more than quoted price. I wasn’t even made aware of the price difference until the receipt was sent to me. I spoke to owner and he promised to give me a return on some moneybecause he understood his dispatcher was using wrong business practice, this never happened and I could’ve gotten it towed for the quoted price from a different company. The tow truck driver was nice, but this company doesn’t know how to operate correctly.
