Since the new big corporate company took over, they won’t allow the public to buy used metal from them anymore a practice that was giving back to the community & other small businessesI won’t be selling to them anymore they won’t even sell welding gas anymore. It was a good Family owned business that cared about the community now it’s just about the money. They even put Mr. Ray out the man in the wheelchair he would be up there every day no matter the weather picking loads, he was the hardest working elderly man I’ve ever known when this new company took over, we all became a liability. It’s truly sad this is what America has become
This is where you scale in a and it for 501k recycling at least at the time of this review. The place also used to be called Copeland metals. Just go around the West side of the building to the scale house where a young lady will with really long hair and a friendly disposition will help you. The scale is short so you need the tandems all the way up. Those of you who don't know how to slide your tandems might want to figure it out. You might still have weigh the truck and trailer separate. I can't speak for the main business but the weighing in and out was a pleasure.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. But the price of the scrap metal is very low. Compared with some of the other yards, Murray recycling, and the one in Puryear. Except for the steel almost all the other metals are a dollar more. Copland's has not changed the price of any nonferrous metals in over a year. Currently Murray recycling is paying a $1.30@lb more than Copland's for #1 copper and this is typical of the other prices. Copland's has also been sold out again, this time to a international corporation. It is no longer a home town business and I for one will try to limit my business with them from now on.
Pretty neat place! They have all kinds of metal stock (copper, brass, aluminum, tool steel, stainless, etc.). The people are friendly. Just tell them what you are looking for and they'll help you out.
I needed a 12" x 12" plate of 1/4" steel. They cut it to the size I needed. Easy peasy! They take cash or card.
Get there before 3:30pm. They are nice enough that they'd probably still help you but, that's their current closing time.
Prices are up on metal it's a great time to clean your property of junk and turn it into cash . To me a clean yard shows your character on who you are in the community.
I just went back to Copeland Metals a few Days ago everybody was really helpful it seems like things have changed a lot since the last time I was in there
I needed some pipe and channel for repair work I was doing on a boat lift. Steve told me what he had in stock and what others had used. I placed my order and he got it delivered the next day. I was not able to be there when the delivery guy arrived, but he stacked everything exactly where I asked, and closed up the gate when he left. I am very happy with the help I got and would recommend them to anyone.
Had a *lot* of batteries to scrap a few years ago, they were quick to help a first timer and happy to answer goofy questions. I've heard wonderful things about them from others too. Glad they're here; wonderful resource.
This place has always been the best steel shop in the country. They cut 4 pieces of 3 inch angle 3 inches long for me! Who does that? Plus, they are reasonably priced & friendly. Usually get little jobs done same day.
