Honest and hard working
Took our vehicle in based on recommendations by family members. Did several thousand dollars of work to our vehicle for maintenance.
Had a question about a sound on our vehicle. They narrowed it down as to what part it was and deduced it needed to be replaced and gave a quote. While working on other requested items, they also determined another possible problem with our vehicle, with another large quote. On both items we decided to do research on it before committing to the work.
The following weekend, after having our vehicle in hand, we discovered the part that they determined needed replacing (the part that was making noise) was just a loose bolt. This was something that was easily accessible (by people who do not own auto lifts) and we discovered on our own by pushing the part back and forth and watching the bolt move within it. Once the part was tightened, the sound was gone. At this point it gave us pause, especially realizing how much we almost agreed to spend, on a new part, when all it was, was a bolt. An easily tightened bolt! Then we considered the second issue they discovered when working on our vehicle and the substantial quote to fix it. Was it really a problem?
Based on this lone experience, it has given us pause for doing any further work with Apison Auto. They are great with oil changes, brake replacements and such (thus the three stars) but if they are giving you quotes for items for future work, especially on items they found on their own, it may be best to get a second opinion to make sure that what is quoted is truly necessary. This is something that is probably harder to do if you are limited in time and not very mechanically inclined.
In today's world of depending on mechanics to give you honest work, it is troubling to know that we almost spent a considerably amount of money for replacing a part, that was only a loose bolt. For the amount of trust given to mechanics, I find it unsettling to lose trust in this "trustworthy" business.
I ultimately decided not to repair my vehicle but the guys at AA were not the reason,b they were helpful and I absolutely plan to use them in the future.

Thrilled I find these guys and they are local in Apison which saves a lot of time from running other places. Had a great experience working with the team and Ben at the shop. Talked through options, pricing (very reasonable) and the expected process to get the repairs done. Very easy to communicate with and they provided updates as they promised. Will be back as needed for sure.
Ben, the owner, is an excellent mechanic, honest, friendly, and reliable. We have been servicing our vehicles there for a couple of years now, and never go back with the same issues! He doesn't overcharge, always communicates anticipated repairs and suggestions, doesn't have hidden costs, and doesn't surprise you with any "unexpected but necessary" fixes. The crew does an excellent job, and they do it quickly. We referred some friends, and they were happy, too. Best mechanic nearby!
Can't tell you how many times they've fixed up my car (including when it was still my mom's) but they do a fantastic job at affordable/reasonable prices and are super reliable. 100000% recommend!!!
I have been a customer here for 5+ years and have zero complaints. Extremely honest people! They are very thorough and honest when looking for preventative maintenance. They provide my vehicles with American made parts. I don’t like taking my vehicles anywhere else but here. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! The last two years I was a nursing student on a minimal budget. Apison Auto was recommended to me by Rick the office manager of LifeMed Clinic. Rick told me that Ben is an honest and fairly priced mechanic. The first time I called Apison Auto, during nursing school, I was stuck at home with a dead battery that was being drained by various systems in my vehicle. I would set it on the charger every day for hours in order to go anywhere. But this particular day it was not turning over at all. Ben came to my home and was able somehow to get it charged up enough to start the vehicle. We drove back to Apison Auto where he was able to figure out all the complications with my dead battery. He gave me budget friendly options that have my vehicle staying charged and reliable. What a relief! Thank you Ben!!!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! Towed my truck over there to get some work done. Due to an after market lift it took longer than the original quote they gave me, and they called and let me know up front. But the overall total was very reasonable, could see it easily being double elsewhere. Very professional and honest mechanic shop, will be my go to shop from now on. Thank you guys!
Great, I would recommend them to everyone! I had an oil change and a transmission flush and fluid change. Ben took the time to show me the fluid color at each flush. It was an eye opener how black it was compared to the red color after 5 flushes. Great job again!
your car is one of your biggest purchases . it also ends up being where you spend much of your waking hours .to say it is important to you is an understatement . that being said ,finding trust in the mechanic field is as important as good child care . a crucial part of apison auto is integrity . thank you for taking that stress off me. i highly recommend you to all my family and friends .
Excellent location to have Mechanic Work on a vehicle. Owners are very good businessmen and the two are fantastic mechanics. Had several vehicles with usual issues and they resolved them in a timely and reasonably priced service!

Everyone listened to me and looked for a problem even though the engine light had not come on. Everything was done quickly and explained every step of the way. The services were reasonably priced, too. I definitely trust them and will be returning.

Took my 04 f150 to them had 2 different shops tell me my engine is shoot wanted 7.500. The owner of Apison auto wasn't convinced. He took my engine that sounded like it was going to blow and honestly removed my check engine lights and fixed the engine for less then 200.. great honest work and great pricing
I took my Lincoln town car to the guys at Apison Auto after having two other shops in Dayton fail to fix an idle problem associated with a strange noise in the intake system. They had it figured out and repaired the next day and went out of their way to get it done in the most cost effective way. These guys are honest, professional and timely.
Had to get new brakes and rotors installed. They got me squared away within a few hours. I will definitely bring my car over here again!! Also the owner Ben has a really cool German shepherd!!

The mechanics are very knowledgeable in what they do and are super honest in their work. They won’t add charges that aren’t necessary. Highly recommend taking your cars here when you have problems with them.
The five stars I have just given this place are well earned.
Professional behavior, knowledge of cars' troubles and how to fix them, honesty, made a mistake they fix it on them, I could go on and on about why this used to be the best place to get your car fixed. Wished it could've been cheaper but you were getting the best for your money. In the end it was all worth a few more dollars.
I'm noticeably speaking in the past tense because, it is with all due sadness that I want to let it be known that as of February 2013 Apison Auto Repair shut down. The owner retired and only uses the building for personal needs as of the time oy this posting.(October 2019).
