This review concerns my experience with Stephens Brothers Auto Interiors in Goodlettsville, Tennessee.
I hired the shop to install new upholstery skins on a valuable classic vehicle. When commissioning them to complete the work, they were specifically instructed to save the original interior skins, as they were in good condition and have resale value in the classic car market. While they did good work installing the new skins, when returning to pick up the interior, we were informed that the shop had discarded the original interior materials despite those instructions.
I attempted to resolve the issue directly with the business and asked them to compensate me for the loss of the original interior. Those efforts were unsuccessful, which ultimately left me no choice but to pursue the matter in court. The Superior Court of New Jersey, Somerset County Special Civil Part subsequently entered a default judgment in my favor (Case No. SOM SC-000488-25).
As of the date of this review, the judgment has not been satisfied. Based on this experience, I recommend that anyone having work performed on a classic vehicle document all instructions regarding original parts and confirm how those materials will be handled before the work begins. I would also recommend a bunch of diligence before selecting a shop (by reading this review you are off to a good start).
This review reflects my personal experience and the publicly recorded outcome of the court case referenced above. If the judgment referenced above is satisfied, I will update this review to reflect that outcome.
Didn’t get service done with them so can’t speak to the quality of it but was quoted an astronomical price for replacing the headliner on a sunroof cover for a Volvo. They quoted me $1500-$2000 for the job I found the matching fabric from Volvo for 200 bucks and a 15 minute YouTube video that walked me through how to do it. So all it actually cost to do is 200 for the fabric and about an hour for the process of removing it putting on the new fabric and then reattaching it. If they caught that for a sunroof, I’d hate to see what they quote for full interiors. Based off that pricing alone and I wouldn’t do business here.
Be it known I have always heard that Stephens Brothers was the best upholstery shop in the geographical area. I had them do some custom work on a trucks interior and I must say what I’ve been hearing for years was without a doubt the gospel. They actually did everything they agreed on doing plus some. The turnaround time was expedient and the quality of work was off the chain. For any that may be my elders that simply means it was extra ordinary extreme quality. I own a collision repair center and know all about cars especially custom cars and trucks, therefore I can honestly tell you that this shop is quality minded and it shows in the workmanship they do. Without hesitation I put my stamp of approval on Stephens Brothers upholstery shop.

70 YEARS IN BUSINESS SAYS SOMETHING!!! 68 years, but who’s counting…I am! I was looking for experts to install the right soft top on my newly acquired old school classic roadster. During my selection process I visited several places. Stephens Bros answered the phone promptly and envied me to visit at my convenience. On first step in the door, I was greeted warmly and saw all I needed to see to know I was in the right place. After reviewing multiple options, we decided on the top and ordered it. Very competitive and reasonable price. Completed work delivered on date planned, and I could not be happier or more satisfied. If you are looking for quality auto upholstery by bonafide experts at a fair price, you’ve found it! Thank you, Stephens Bros!!!
Replaced convertible top on my 2006 Mustang Saleen. These guys are the best in the business. I've had 5 tops replaced in my lifetime & this was by far the best quality work. If you want the best then this is your place. Very knowledgeable & friendly staff too!!!
They put a new top on my 93 mustang. Afterward it would not close and said it was due to the latches were worn out. The latches are to secure the top to the windshield. They are not meant to stretch the top 2 to 3 inches. I was treated badly. They were rude and did a very poor job. I should take them to small claims court. They may do good work on seats. But don't take a convertible there.
Stephens Bros did a great job installing my headliner on my old BMW. Could not be happier with the work they performed. However, the glass company that they used to install the glass after the headliner was done messed up several very expensive gaskets, chrome moldings, and even scratched the paint. After bringing this to both companies attention they said that was the best they could do and there are no warranties on parts provided. These were Oem BMW parts that were not cheap. Stephens brothers refuses to do anything else as well as the glass company to handle damages to paint and parts. I even went as far as reaching out to the president of the glass company to resolve the issue and because it was subcontracted work, Stephens brothers should be liable. All I wanted was my money back for the glasswork that was subpar regardless of the parts or paint damage. Sad situation and blatant disregard to ones property. Two star review simply because the headliner looks great.
These guys are great. Flawless work and if there is an issue they'll do what's needed to make it right. Good guys. No better place in Nashville. I had a seat and armrest repaired. Things matched and was very natural for my Infiniti. Will bring them all my work.
