Shannon was amazing. I bought a car from carvana and the battery died the 2nd day. He told me they will call carvana and take care of it. Carvana paid for the battery from the call Shannon made. That is exactly what he did. Great service, friendly and felt taken care of. Will Def be coming back in the future. I highly highly recommend Gary's auto repair.

Dont have a car towed there. My car sit there for 3 weeks on a side road away from the garage. No attempts to put in garage. Very difficult to communicate with. Only answered phone 1 time and I called at least 5 times. Went to garage twice to check on progress of my car and the car was never looked at. They promised they would pull my car in garage to fix by the next day. Car never moved from side road. Had car towed to another mechanic and was fixed immediately. The same tow company that towed my car to Gary's Auto Repair in the first place towed my car to the successful mechanic within an hour of me calling them.

We were camping in the area and ended up having brake problems on our truck. They ordered the parts and had them delivered that day and were able to fix our truck that afternoon. It was a huge relief for us as we had a long trip pulling a trailer the next day. We could not be happier with the work done and the guys we dealt with. Thanks to Shannon and Gary’s Auto Repair for your honest, reliable and quick work.

I described the issue with my truck and he immediately checked it out. After a little bit he found the issue and showed me. Even compared the broken part to another that wasn’t to show me it wasn’t supposed to be like that. After agreeing on the price he went straight to work after the parts were delivered within 10 or so minutes. All done and fixed the issue very quickly. Some friendly and knowledgeable guys. Thanks.

When they are well staffed, they are good. But lately staffing has been an issue and its been a rough experience. Every interaction I've had with their management has been positive. That being said, I am editing my glowing review of Gary's to say I don't use them any more. After 3 instances of Gary's taking well over a week a piece for not terribly complicated jobs on my truck (fuel pump, breaks, upper radiator hose), I just can't handle the lack of communication, the crawling pace of work, and the mistakes. The last time I dropped my truck off, they installed the upper radiator hose incorrectly and it ended up getting cut by the radiator fan. Shannon offered to fix it, but by that point I was done. Not bad people. Not untrustworthy. Just in a rut of not great speed or communication. I'm sure it will get better: Edit: I wish you could see their comment. But I updated my rating to 4 stars from 3. They are good people trying to do good work. Everyone makes mistakes. I would never send anyone away from Gary's, but my work truck is my paycheck.

They told me I needed a new fan and they could have the part the next day too fix my car and they would call me when it arrived. The next day came and went without them calling me. Then 2 days after that they still never called so I called them to see what was going on and they still couldn't give me a strait answer about the part or where it was. Since then 2 more days had passed and they still haven't called me with any update at all. It was pretty obvious they didn't care about fixing my car and on top of that they made me wait over a full week on them to not even give me a single phone call. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I will never attempt to use them again. You never contacted me 1 single time.

I recently had a breakdown while towing a camper through the area. This left me, my wife, and 2 year son stranded on the side of the road. We had the truck towed in near the end of the day on Monday and were back on the road by Tuesday morning. They did a great job on the repair and the price was very reasonable. They were very busy at the time (tow driver even commented on the number of cars he had recently delivered there), but went out of their way to help us as quickly as possible. Highly appreciated.

I was traveling in the area for work when my AC quit working and my truck started making a horrible sound. I Googled auto repair shops near me and Gary's auto popped up. I stopped by an was greeted by the awesome woman that works there. I think her name is kyia. Justin and Shannon came out to take a peek at the issues I was having and explained what was going on. Shannon explained I was lucky the compressor didn't seize as it would have created much larger problems. As Shannon and I where chatting , Justin got all my information for the truck and started finding the parts I needed while the young lady worked me up a price. From when I pulled in until they had parts on the way was maybe 15 mins. That is amazing service. The parts arrived and Justin got right to work. It was honestly very impressive how fast he was working on it. Justin was very friendly, knowledgeable, polite and willing to answer my million questions. Thanks Justin. You would be doing yourself an injustice if you didn't take the time to visit the guys at Gary's auto for your service needs. Hands down the best customer service I have received in years. Keep up the great work and thanks for all your help! Absolute 5 stars in my eyes.

Gary’s came through for me in the clutch! I arrived in town on a Friday afternoon at 4:45 to visit a local car dealership. As I rolled to a stop at the dealership across from Gary’s, my engine died, and I smelled smoke. I just knew I was in trouble because what was I going to do at 4:45 on a Friday, two hours from home. Thankfully, the rep at the car dealership directed me to Gary’s. Long story short, the great team at Gary’s immediately tested my battery and alternator and determined that I needed both. Then they directed me to a diner just around the corner and went right to work. Shockingly, they had my truck back on the road before we had even finished our meal. I couldn’t stop laughing and saying, “when do you ever get that lucky?” I had thought my goose was cooked but instead I got treated to some incredible Elizabethton hospitality and remarkable mechanic service. Highly recommended is an understatement!

So, I have ran an automotive repair shop for over 25 years and always gave my customers top rate service. After my experience with Gary’s I have reevaluated my customer service standards. Kya, Danny, and Shannon all went above and beyond customer service standards, starting with staying late to try to diagnose my cars issue on Saturday after closing, all the way to bringing my car to Tri City Airport for me to pick it up the next Saturday (after closing). I can tell anyone reading this post, I am extremely happy with the service to my car, and the kindness and compassion shown to me and my wife. I am very impressed with the quality, friendliness, professionalism and knowledge of this wonderful team. I have real anxiety when it comes to my car. They assessed the problem , came up with a solution and they fixed it. They had helped me in the past with minor things but to me this issue was huge!!!! I am SO HAPPY TO KNOW THEM AND MY CAR WILL NEVER GO BACK TO A DEALERSHIP but come back to Garys. The dealership I HAD taken it to saw a female , took advantage (both emotionally and monetarily) and within a month or so - something else went wrong with what they had done!!! I am OVER DEALERSHIPS!!!! Gary's , you can talk directly to the mechanic, the owner, the staff and they work together. Please consider taking your vehicle there. You might have to wait a bit because they are so busy - but it is worth the wait to have your car and yourself treated with respect and dignity!!!

The guys here are good stand up mechanics. They always do good work with fair pricing. I've never felt like I was being ripped off. If anything the fix goes bad they guarantee it. So it gets done. Friendly good Ole boys is how I'd describe them. The woman who really runs the place is sweet and kind. Nothing but fives stars from me for this places.

Reliable, professional, quality work, and honest! I took my Honda there to get a window motor replaced. I was told by a dealership that the whole assembly would need to be replaced - but the people at Gary's assured me this wasn't the case and, as a result, completed the repair at a fraction of the price. It's been a couple of months now and everything is still working great. I'll be back!

I 11/10 recommend this place to anyone needing car services. I was greeted with kindness the moment I arrived to the shop. They were able to fix my car in just a few hours and the prices were very reasonable. As a female with car issues, I always worry about getting ripped off and from the moment I walked in, I knew I would have a great experience here. I didn't get the name of the guy who worked on my car, but they were phenomenal!!

I would rate this 4.8. They do excellent work for very reasonable prices!! Because they are so popular, my main complaint is the "turn around" time. I've had to wait up to 3 weeks to get my car back for repairs (ex. Truck clutch repair, gas tank replacement) Last time ~1.5 weeks for light switch replacement. Therefore, I would somewhat caution you if you're in a big hurry!

Great people! Best garage in TRI cities! Took my car there after previous mechanic said it needed a a/c compressor but he didn't have time to fix it thankfully!!! It was just the pressure was too high! Shannon fixed it in about 30 minutes and for about $30!!

Lived here my whole life but never heard of Gary's Auto Repair. My wife's car started making a horrible noise when trying to drive in reverse on Friday and Gary's was the only place open Saturday that could schedule us in. John identified the problem immediately and it wasn't as bad as we feared. We were in and out in a little under an hour. I saw some other people didn't feel that they got good service from Gary's but I was very happy with them. The service was quick and professional and the price was right. From now on when I need work done on my vehicles I'll be going Gary's first time every time. Thank you John, for your integrity.

I've been coming to Garys Auto for several years now and the job is done right the first time. They call you to update you on your vehicle. Shannon never fails in his work. Very loyal company. They don't rip a hole in your pocket either. Very friendly people as well

I cannot be more greatful for the workers here. Kia (sorry if misspelled) is sweet and understanding, wonderful customer service and went over and beyond. She even used her personal number for communication as they were having shop phone issues. My car broke down was stuck at a parking lot, and she was the first of several calls who finally answered was polite and offered more than just oil changes. She helped me find a reputable tow company to get to the shop. Not only did I get my car there, she worked me in without issues and the mechanics were on it for ordering the part I needed. They were honest and had fair price and good quality. If I need any further work done, I'll be going here. Thank you so much for being there.

I have never had a more professional and fair mechanical experience as I have had this morning. I stopped over at Gary's Auto and hopes of being able to get my rear rotor repaired. I drive to Asheville to go to work everyday and I depend on my vehicle to be safe and capable of the long journey through the mountains. To my extreme pleasure I was definitely pleased by the amazing customer service given by Dennis the mechanic on duty. He was very professional I am sorry his name is Justin. He is very professional he knew all about the problems that my car was having and he took the time to not just fix my car but he took the time to educate me and made me feel assured that the work that he had done that it will be dependable and I can drive in confidence. I know now that I have a new mechanic that I will go to for all of my mechanical needs. Gary's Auto Repair by far is the best auto repair shop that I have been to my entire time living in Tennessee. I do hope that anyone that reads this will take the time and stop by and have your car repaired and know that in confidence you can drive with safety.

Saw all the great reviews and decided to call these guys when I hit a bird in my Suburban on a road trip that damaged my cooler for my power steering. It was near closing when I called and spoke with Shannon-who was very nice and told me he would order the part and to bring it in the morning. I showed up the next morning, spent 10 minutes looking for someone to help me and found out that Shannon was out sick... I was told they couldn't fix my car because of that and to come back Monday early morning... OK fine stuff happens...(a call would have been nice but oh well), so Monday I decided to call first to be sure before driving a broken vehicle into town again... nobody answered my calls the entire day, and nobody ever returned my calls after I left messages. 2 months later I still haven't fixed it and now have another problem with my second vehicle. I would have liked to use them since I am new in the area in a very small town and reviews were great, but now I am afraid to since they aren't answering the phone again.

I was having issues with my 2011 Chevy Cruze. I actually had been having issues since I bought the car, I bought it new and always serviced the recalls. Once I moved to carter county, in 2016 I was having a difficult time finding someone who had knowledge to just get to the source of the issue I was having with my car. I eventually tried Gary's Auto and I wish I contacted them first! Knowledgeable and reasonably priced. My husband and I are glad to have found a mechanic that we can trust! Don't waste your time or money else where.

I've been taking my cars here for years. Best prices, fastest service. I recently got a new, slightly used?, car that been worked on by another mechanic who couldnt figure out what was wrong and advised me to take it to the dealership for diagnostic. Their repair quote was outrageous so i took it to Shannon and for half the price he fixed it even though Toyotas diagnostic was wrong. He figured out what was wrong with their car when they didn't even know. Why would you take your car anywhere else?

Had my dodge neon towed to Gary's and within a hour they called me and told me they had my car running. Fixed power steering, transmission linkage and put it all back together in 1 afternoon. Absolutely wouldn't have anyone else work on my cars. They have been working on our cars since 2006. They have always taken great care of our vehicles. They treat everyone with courtesy. Prices are very fair and reasonable. I can honestly say they have never mislead us about our cars and I would believe anything they told me needed to be fixed. They are hard workers and put in MANY extra hours.
