My father in law brought us here and we had a great time. The ribeye, burgers, Philly cheesesteak sandwich and salad bar were great! The spinach artichoke dip was the only thing we didn’t care for. We will be back next time we visit!
Beautiful place to grab lunch. The food was really good and a great selection of beer on tap. The waitress was super friendly and on point with everything. Such a good experience with such a beautiful view. Kids even get a frisbee to take home.
It’s is always a delight to get a chance to visit this beautiful lakeside gem! The salad bar is phenomenal, and the choices for meals are great, and the taste, wow!!
If you like made from scratch food this place is hands down the place to try. Have been several times since the new owners opened and have not been let down one time. I definitely recommend trying it...the view also isn't bad right on big stone lake. Take a drive it is WORTH IT!!!
The new owners are awesome and the food it amazing. They just need to get some of these kid to get off their butts down there and get a job to make it that much better. They just need help and it will be terrific.
I'd been wanting to check this place out for a few years, crossing the river from Minnesota. Since MN is shut down due to Covid, this was a good opportunity so went there on a Saturday night. Waitress was nice but food and service were mediocre at best. The cucumbers and carrots in the salad were frozen solid. I was going to say something about it but waitress took so long to check on us, then blew in and out with entree so fast, I gave it up. My friend had the coconut shrimp and it was nearly appalling. Coconut flavor was OK but the shrimp were old and mushy and not particularly large or plentiful for the price. I had the Chicken Marsala and it was OK but not particularly imaginative. We both got cheesecake to go and they were very good. The big hit was when the bill came. We both felt it was WAY overpriced for the quality of the food, not to mention the service. Glad I took this opportunity so I know not to waste the drive to go back. Maybe too bad it was dark out. I would have liked to see the view of the lake.
I got a response from the owner after a day or two thanking me for giving them a try. Have to respect that. Maybe the shrimp ended up sitting around a long time due to the Covid situation. Might try them again some day.
Our wild & crazy group of ladies were celebrating some 60th birthdays and we had supper here after a day of adventures. My steak was fabulous, my hashbrowns extra crispy (just the way I like them), followed by a scrumptious cheesecake truffle! Plus a couple of delicious cocktails and the beautiful view made our experience truly fantastic!
Ordered a salmon special was okay not great. But the $39 new york strip we ordered medium rare came well done. Then when we had them cook it again the steak they brought out looked like a gas station steak and was cooked blue rare, flavor was terrible. We gave up and just took it to not be rude. And while it was expensive we thought it was over priced. but cause we were going to get cheesecake at the end it might not be too bad. We got it to go and when it came we could do nothing but laugh to the point we were crying. It was the size of a golf ball.
Very beautiful views of the river and calming/relaxing supper. The food from start (cocktails) to finish (dessert) was AMAZING!!! You can tell the staff and chef cares. Highly recommend, you will not be disappointed.
This restaurant is the best place to eat in the Milbank, SD area! Everything my husband & I have had here has been superb! The employees are top notch! Great atmosphere and views of the lake while dining. It’s worth the drive for those living out of the area, you won’t be disappointed.

We dined in the first night Shady Beach was open for the summer. Service and food were excellent! The view of the lake from the dining room is beautiful. Bathrooms were clean and decorated nicely. I definitely recommend!!
An absolute pleasure and a must do within 20-30 miles away. Super drinks and the special cut ribeye...to die for. Our choices are a close trip to Minneapolis or Shady Beach. The trip to Shady Beach is Always our 1st Choice. The 20oz Custom Cut Steaks can't be found any where else!
I eat here regularly. The chefs are good with steaks and fish. The waitresses always friendly and helpful,even charming. Nice Lake view seats in both dining room and booths in the bar.
First time here. Excellent service. Dipping oil for bread is off the hook. Parmesan Crusted Walleye tastefully done. Quartered red roasted potatoes had a nice garlic flare. Rajon Cajun tortellini had a nice after burn but not spicy. Wine list could use a face lift for such a nice menu. Salad dressing out of the bottle is unacceptable. With such good food, y'all need to get some recipes for home made salad dressings.
Excellent food & excellent service! BEST ribeye on the lake!! The new menu is refreshing, offering a wide range of customizable & healthy options. Jake, Heidi & staff consistently go above & beyond to ensure their guests are well taken care of.
Never been disappointed here. So I decided to go for my birthday and it was also one of the nights for the free lobster tail. I ordered a drink in the bar to wait for the rest of my family, and had a nice conversation with the bartender. I latter found out that she was one of the owners. Our waitress was very patient with us and explained everything really well.
Wonderful food with excellent service, cocktails are pretty awesome too! What more could you ask for? Oh, did I mention that they are right on the beach with beautiful views of the lake!
Cozy Warm Environment, Elegant Dining and Delicious Meals! Love the atmosphere and I am always impressed with the food! Love to be able to enjoy a meal and watch the lake. My favorite place to dine in the area!
We had a great meal last night at Shady Beach! I had the Filet Mignon with their slab bacon...It was literally 1/4 inch think! This steak was probably one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. My wife had a Top Sirloin with Parmesan Shrimp with a bruschetta topping...It was a really pretty dish! The Service ... the Atmosphere ....and the Food were top notch. We will be back!
Well very nice atmosphere waitress very friendly and personable wife had chicken carbonara it was very good price was $19.99 so it was somewhat overpriced. I had a custom cut ribeye 18 Oz and it cost me $40.25 sautéed mushrooms were $2.99 and sautéed onions another $2.99. A can of pop was $1.75. Was the ribeye worth $46.00 NO WAY!! Steak was way overpriced and I have had a better tasting ribeye from Walmart. Don't go there for a steak way over priced.
I was part of the Milbank High School Class of '63 reunion get-together and dinner at Shady Beach in late July 2013. The accommodations were very nice, very well maintained and the dinner was very pleasant especially considering the size of the group. All of the staff were very pleasant, hard-working and very helpful.
I intend to go back there again as a just a couple or two as the menu looked very appealing and I want to take advantage of some of the variety offered.
Very pleasant evening and I recommend Shady Beach very highly.
