I've been using Pacific steel for purchasing and recycling for many years and I truly have never met a person there that isn't friendly and easy to work with. Sent my son recently and told him don't be intimidated, just tell them what you're looking for and whoever you meet will be friendly. Well history held true, and everybody was really good to my son and helped him get what he needed. Another time after that he took steel to recycle there with my wife because he's not of age and they treated them great in the recycling process as well. Good group and always have what I need for a what seems to me like a good value. Thanks Guys!
Stopped into the Rapid City, Pacific Steel to dispose of a refrigerator that had compressor completely removed and all coolant removed from the appliance. I was told I was going to be charged to leave it there. Since when do I take a legally evacuated appliance to sell it for recycling, then pay for them to take it? I said no thank you, there are other options so I took it to a competitor and got paid !!
Stopped there this morning with several clean steel wheels, and other scrap iron to sell (06-27-23) Gates were open, trucks on the scale overhead doors open with people standing there, (but I had steel so I have to go in the office first). I go up and open the door and there are employees standing inside of the office with work clothes, and the first person turned around and said I’m sorry we’re having a meeting, then closed the door. I respectfully went on my way because I had other errands to run. I came back with the little scrap that I had which ended up only being 105 pounds but it’s steel that I don’t want and they supposedly buy steel. I walked in and told him what I had for Steel and that it was all clean no mixed metals. He said are you wanting to just drop it off or do you want to get paid for it? Are these guys trying to go out of business or is there service really that poor? I’ve been taking product to this location for at least 30 years and it’s a sad day when customer service gets to that level for an international company. I am in the customer service business myself. How many times do you get turned away before you go elsewhere. There are other options Rapid City. Choose wisely.,,,,,, That was my last stop at Pacific Steel and Recycling.
Pacific steel prices are not even close to ace recycling, take your business to ace. They would only give me 15 cents a pound at Pacific and ace gave me 70 for my aluminium. Can you say get taken advantage of.
I use to purchase my materials from the competitor across town, after a couple of bad experiences I headed to Pacific Steel. Staff is great, personable and not stand offish, Warehouse guys are just as helpful. Unfortunately due to the rising costs of steel I cannot purchase materials as freely as before but when I do purchase steel, Pacific Steel are my new GOTO folks.
Great place to buy new steel, fast service and good prices - not so much for selling scrap though, other local businesses pay 2-3x higher for the same materials.
Took an aluminum rim, and some scrap aluminum in that I spent a half hour tearing an EZ-UP apart, and it came back as 20 pounds. They gave me 5 cents a pound!! I got a dollar!! I'm just glad I didn't take all my copper in today, cuz I have more to clean, and I wanted to check out their prices...Well let's just say that they won't be getting it...I just moved here, and I live right up the street, so it kinda sucks that I'm gonna have to drive clear across town now, but I will never go back...What a joke!!
After a completely frustrating experience at another recycler I went here and had a great experience. They were helpful & professional. I will return here in the future.
