Brought clean steel wire and steel fence post thousands of pounds, they said it was clean steel that I didn't need to do anything over the phone, after unloading, they said it was dirty unprepared steel. I feel like I got Got Ripped off. Angry and pissed off now, Thanks Again Ace steel, this isn't the first time.
Id give them 0 stars but it wouldn't let me. Took a cat down there off one side of my exhaust , and they gave me 40 bucks . Took the other side cat off and down to pacific . They gave me 200 bucks for it . It was the same exact cat as the one I took to ace . They were both the original and off the same car . Just the other side. Identical cats . They will scree you so whatch it .
I'm a firm believer in doing something that you love. It is blatantly obvious that everyone here hate their job. IS it normal to be hung up when inquiring about shipping for a future load? I was wondering if they provide trucking or if I have to. PLEASE do not work with them.
Have been treated very well here as compared to pacific steel and recycling. Pacific gave me $20 a ton for tin and Ace gave me about $80 a ton. Don't waste your time at Pacific.
Flatbed truck driver experience: FIRST; USE THE EAST ENTRANCE. SECOND; they DO provide netting.
It all went great, I had an appointment for 1400, but was able to call and come in early (MAKE SURE TO CALL, DON'T JUST SHOW UP!!). I was loaded quickly and with good weight and they wrapped it with the net. I was in and out in under an hour
It's about 3/4 of a mile to the J and Common Cents truck stops for parking.
Had to drop off an old junker pickup. Called and the guy said they closed at noon on Saturday. We arrived at 11:40 and were turned away because apparently they closed at 11:30. Pretty inconvenient, considering we drove ~40 miles to get there.
Their scale either needs to be calibrated or they are just flat-out screwing people hauled in a car this morning that we weighed and it weighed 4200 lb on our scale on their scale they said it weighed 1850 lb the curb weight on the car that we hauled in is3441 lb from the factory not to mention all the steel that we loaded in the trunk and in the interior of the vehicle total rip off.
The employees are very rude and act as if they don't need or want your business. Go to Pacific Steel and Recycling, they will treat you with respect and give you better prices. Avoid Ace at all costs.
Do not go here if you are not a regular to scrap yards. While it is a clean and organized scrap yard the employee said that I had sheet metal when I had a 50 pound steal pole. Take pictures of what you had so you can show the office and make sure you get paid the correct amount!
It's a process to recycle but well worth it for the environment!
The man at the dock wasn't friendly and when asked for help with what to do with the rest of our items, was very curt. Maybe he was just having a bad day.
The ladies in the office were very nice.
Wish the process was a bit easier and the drop off area more accessible.
If this is the kind of people that work here they will no longer have my business. To get on my Facebook Marketplace listing and respond disrespectfully is not very professional.
I've bought steel here and sold scrap many, many times over the years. Most of my experiences were positive but occasionally they are not. I have had them give me incorrect weight tickets more than once, their "cut charges" are frustrating and unncessary, the mud in the yard is awful (but probably unavoidable) and it seems like prices vary depending on the mood of the day. But, most of these are small things, and can be overlooked. I will continue to do business with them.
Order was wrong and they wouldn’t fix it. Blamed me. Charged me for their mistake. Never again. Horrible customer service. Customer is always Wrong at Ace Steel. Don’t count on them to admit their wrong or fix their mistakes.
As a co-owner of Black Hills Metal Fabricators LLC we believe Ace Steel has a very friendly staff!! They have some of the best prices in town. It is where I buy almost all my steel, aluminum and stainless. Have been going to them for years and plan on going there years to come.
As co-owner of Iron Horse Excavating here in Rapid City, I always have a good experience at Ace Steel. It's owned and operated by great people. They are more than willing to help you with whatever you may need. And their recycling prices are always more than fair!
I have purchased steel, and recycled steel at Ace, every time was a enjoyable experience. The ladies in the front room are fun to deal with and seem to always have a smile on there face.
Extremely helpful and professional. I called in a late order on a Saturday with lots of custom cuts and they had it ready to go when I arrived. Couldn't be happier-puzzled as to why so many others had a bad experience.
I tried to recycle some metal here and was one of the most frustrating experiences! I was rudely directed to the wrong place twice! Then when I found where I was to go there was no one to help me. I went to Pacific instead and they were pleasant, professional and ACTUALLY helped. Trust me, even if Ace pays 2 cents more on the pound it is NOT worth it!
I will never go back to this place, took some motorcycle parts in. A frame, tank, springs and different things. All steel, but they told me that since the metal was not a specific thickness it was considered to be tin. Really? After that I just want to take My metal and go somewhere else and was told that since it was on their ground it was their property what kind of bs is that? There had not been any exchange of money so how was it theirs? Do yourself a favor and just drive pass this place not worth the trouble.
