My starter unexpectedly went out in my car and I found myself in desperate need of a tow. We connected to Tanner at Plains Towing in Sturgis—and he responded within 15 minutes after our initial conversation with a tow. He was knowledgeable, beyond professional, so responsive, friendly and had our vehicle on the tow truck and delivered to a local mechanic for repair, all in under an hours time. Highly recommend this business and their team when you find yourself needing this type of service. I am thoroughly impressed and feel relief knowing that this mishap of ours has been expertly taken care of—and that we are that much closer to getting back on the road again safely & soon! Best service and company. Very courteous, friendly and knowledgeable driver arrived on time, took time to check my vehicle to try to determine problem before towing. Carefully loaded and unloaded my vehicle. When we arrived at repair shop he took time to speak with owner and explain what he knew of problem. I would beyound a doubt use this towing service again and I highly recommend them!....Forgot to add that I received this excellent help right in the middle of Sturgis Motorcycle Rally week. Had to be one of Plains Towing's busiest weeks! Yet they were there to help! Thank you!
Let me tell you something my license was suspended for a ticket my company was suppose to pay somehow they did not anyways I was driving my semi got pulled in to weight station arrested they towed my semi to make matters worse these punks there attitude is definitely rude and the have tough guy síndrome instead of being decent humans and doing what they can for another human they could have towed me in in one section but to make a lil more money they split it in two and charged for two towers 2300 dollars to take my semi 4 miles so thank you guys for being rip offs it's to hard to be a stand up man these days do not call them please whatever you do call some one else for your towing needs you will regret it if you do

Great! An actual human receptionist answered the phone, was very helpful. Truck came pretty fast, brought a bottle of water for me, and got my car where it needed to go.

Tanner was our tow truck driver today. He arrived so quickly and even offered to give us a ride to Enterprise for a new car. Unfortunately, Enterprise has no other cars available so we have to wait but having Tanner be so professional and helpful has made our day much better. Thank you Tanner!
Almost got rear ended by one of their trucks tonight at mm 40. He was speeding in driving lane. I was in passing lane going around a slower vehicle. He was so close his headlights disappeared behind my tailgate. Hard to think that with all they see going to these crashes that they have such unsafe drivers.
My truck was gelled on the road of south dokata Rapid City for two days because of bad weather no one was helping me to tow my truck then I luckily contact this tow company they got ready to tow my truck terry was really good person, but when he arrived he told me he was going to charge me 700$ but then he knew I was stuck he talked to his dispatch and then they changed their mind they charged me $ 1000 because they knew very well I didn’t have any option. So I paid them , but if you are stuck if they ready to help contact them. I really appreciate them.
My car battery died and my roadside assistance service dispatched Plains Towing and Recovery to jump start. They were fast, communicated that they were on their way, worked through a couple hiccups and gave me some tips on what to do to prevent this from being an issue the next day. It was extremely cold and the technician was nothing but friendly and helpful.
Best towing company I’ve ever had!!! My wife and I broke down in downtown Rapid City and I could not have had a better guy come and get us and our car!! How can you charge $3,344 for a couple of hours of work 30 miles away? this is crazy, especially since you just pulled me from the side of the road, it was not a difficult job. I would rather have spent a week in a hotel with this money and would not deny myself anything and would find a local tractor driver who would pull me out for $ 200-300. you have crazy prices, I will remember your company and will never contact you again and tell my colleagues about you. Needed help on short notice at about 5pm to get a stuck trailer loose. Dispatch was quick. Wrecker was on site in about a half hour, dealt with the situation efficiently and got us back on the road. Nice to have found this operation to deal with a stressful situation. Happy with the service, thank you!
During the Sturgis rally we had an unfortunate mechanical breakdown that required a 30+mile tow to Rapid City, Plains towing was super helpful with excellent customer service. Their driver Lamar came right to our campsite and professionally loaded our bike onto a flat deck and allowed us to ride with him to the dealership, along the way he was super cheerful and talkative helping us to relieve some of the stress we were under, thanks Lamar on a job very well done! Don't look anywhere else if you need a tow, Plains Towing is your best choice!
Got ripped off! City of Sturgis made a mistake (squashed my ticket) . Best I can say is it was rally and they were high. Originally charged me $420.00 but with 4 other disgruntled patrons dropped it to $375.00. A normal tow in this area is $125- $175. You figure it out .
Very professional, friendly, most helpful. Alvin went above and beyond to make sure we were fully taken care of and even took us to a rental car place. Made the long situation so pleasant. Highly recommend to and one needing a tow or help!!
By pure coincidence, the owner of Plains Towing happened along 5 minutes after my car broke down by the side of the highway. It was late and he was on his way elsewhere but he still went out of his way to tow me 50 miles back to Rapid so I could get going. He was also very resourceful and understanding helping me figure out what to do to resolve the car situation. If I ever need another tow in the Black Hills, I will be calling Plains Towing directly.
Alvin was great, he was there within the hour of our call to our insurance company to tow our truck and travel trailer. He arrived and made sure we safe and got our truck and trailer hooked up and heading back into town within 10-15 minutes. We had our two younger children with us and the truck he brought was very clean and accommodated them great! He was very helpful with recommendations on diesel shops in rapid city as we were just passing through at the time. He was also very professional and went out of his way to get us to our rental car pickup location after he dropped our truck and trailer off at a shop in town. Would absolutely recommend anyone needing a tow in this area to use plains towing! 10/10 would use again!
I have no comments on a towing experience but that the folks left an amazing chemical spill in front of my home and place of business and basically told me it was not there problem...too bad so sad
We had our 36 ft RV towed by this company and we couldn’t be happier with them and our whole experience with them, First, they were prompt in getting to our location. Tyler and Kasey were friendly and very conscientious, They did a great job with getting the RV set up to tow plus it was in a difficult location to tow out of. They made us feel very comfortable explaining things as they went along. They took their time and were very conscientious!!
If you’re in a situation where you need a tow you will not regret calling PLAINS TOWING!! THEY ARE GREAT!
Got caught in a brutal hail storm 2.5 weeks ago heading west for vacation, windshield and door windows were smashed out and we had to have the truck towed, Casey and Alvin took care of us, made sure my truck was in the shop overnight to keep water out of the cab and towed asap to the body shop the next day for glass replacement, insurance took care of it all but these guys went above and beyond when we were 900 miles from home. Definitely use them first in the Sturgis/Rapid city area.
Professional, prompt, and courteous. Their whole team is 5 star. Had to get help in a pinch and they were there to help is as quickly as possible. They are the only people I would recommend in the black hills area for towing. The best, bar none.

Had an older RV that needed a jump, called my insurance, and they sent out PTR (Sturgis). In less than half an hour, the truck came and I was started up just fine....
BUT WAIT, there's more!
The serviceman, Carson, took the time to talk about my problem with me, and gave me a lot of helpful advice. That's REAL service. I may never be stranded for this problem again, which is great. Hope your experience is as good as mine was. You can be sure I thanked the fellow profusely. And let's just say God knows when you don't tip. Good service isn't an automatic thing nowadays, but you sure can show your appreciation when you get it!

Under unfortunate events, getting a high value car towed to Denver from Rapid City is stressful, high plains impressed me with the great customer service, clean truck and the care that they put into my vehicle. Had a late night call for an unfortunate event and chose planes towing and recovery. They answered right away even though it was late. Wanted someone they could do a recovery with my equipment in mind and I got just the help I was looking for. A little expensive but for a big truck they always are and you get what you pay for. Two trucks two guys that work together well and listen to my opinions along the job. Knee-high and in some places deeper with snow and mud under it and they were able and patient even through the weather the cold to taking the time and doing the job correctly and didn’t damage a thing on my rig as they pulled it out. Military supporters I appreciate that and without a doubt correct company for the job I appreciate the knowledge and efforts that they put forth and keeping my equipment undamaged from the hard job they had to put it through in order to get me back on the road thank you very much outstanding job working together as a team to get me back on the road good job guys

While vacationing in SD, my family got caught in a hailstorm that completely blew out our windshield. We ended up using their service twice before we got our truck to where it needed to be fixed. Even though the guys were under pressure with the mass amount of vehicles to be towed, every employee we encountered was courteous, professional and personable. Hope we never need them again but would recommend them to anyone.
