I took my Honda van there to scrap it I was told on the phone they would pay 6 dollars per 100 lbs. Well I scrap the van get home look at the paper they provided me and they only paid me 5 dollars per 100lbs. The van weighed 4400lbs. I got shorted $44. So watch the fine folks at mintz scrap metal they may get you too. No big deal. Thanks everyone.
I will have to be honest I didn't weigh my stuff before I but I'm a 350 lb infantrymen who struggled to the bag of scrap up on the then filled up a second bag about half the size when I got on the scale it was 4,220 lbs. When I got back on the scale it was 4,060. That's a 180 lb difference I am very convinced that I had a lot more than but they still only paid me for 150 lbs on paper. I will never be back.

At 4:35. I have been doing business here since I was a kid and heavily the past few months. I been here PLENTY of times up until 4:45. (The actual cut off time). Today was my last trip after probably 30 years.
Quick and friendly customer service professionals. Great resource for gas money when you have junk and scrap metal lying around taking up space. Also great way to recycle cans and earn a few $$$.
After cleaning out my deceased parent's home, my father had a lot of old "heavy melting iron", about the poundage they gave me for all the steel. I had #1 copper (bright clean copper wire), solid brass free of ferrous metals and it was pretty slick how they did it. This was my first time scraping anything. I only did it b/c a friend recommended I do so - rather than throw away! The person that helped me unload my car with what was not sorted had me throw all of the ferrous metals in one bin! I didn't know any better. But when I saw the break down of what they said I had on paper - this place may be the easiest for someone like me, it's not huge, intimidating with trains and tons of heavy machines around but they ripped me a new one! Then I had to get down on the ground to show them why. I will never recommend them nor revisit. I'm very disgusted. I could have made more at a yard sale. I had a whole truck bed full of heavy metal, buckets of nails, heavy bolts, heavy farming chains, solid iron fire grates and tools, old iron BED FRAMES!!! etc... None of that was separated as I had it in my car. Just put it in the cart. He had to use a forklift to pick it up!!!! What the heck!!! I went to this yard bc of a review that "it was great for a first time". I have been to all in Spartanburg county and they were friendly, didn't scare me but I won't be back. Total scammers. I think they (the person's unloading/helping me) pocketed some of it too. I have to say I'm pretty P.O.'d. I could have hauled it all to the street and the city pick it up. I feel taken advantage of.
Well to anyone whom thinks the scales are rigged at mintz you are absolutely wrong. I thought they had to be wrong too but I was proved wrong with my own weight...own scale so sorry to everyone at mintz! Especially nice lady who works the window! Always sold to mintz always will. My Mexican homie laughed at me now I know y. Up side I lost 25 pounds
They say the scrap yard closes at 445 but we pull on the scale as at 444 and the gate was open when we passed it to pull on the scales. They told us gate was already closed we don't Even have gas money to get home. IF YOU WANT TO LEAVE YOUR JOB AT 445 , PUT YOU CLOSE AT 430 INSTEAD OF 445. THANKS MINTZ NOW WE TRYING TO FIND GAS MONEY FROM YOUR PARKING LOT.
I was able to take steel, aluminum, and galvanized steel to Mintz today to sell it to be recycled for extra cash for gas for my car. It's worth the time and effort.
As a smaller yard we sell to Mintz alot. I have always appreciated they know me by name and always are friendly. I rate fairly but this yard is 100% 5-star worthy. I've had 1 issue with a employee and it was promptly handled by Mr.Mintz himself. 9 years doing business together and still going strong! Thank y'all for all you do to ensure your customers are not cheated in any way & having that small town feel as everyone knows you. Looking forward to doing alot more business in the future!

Very shady place to do business do not recommend going there they don’t ring you up as the correct items you bring strongly would not recommend this place to anybody who wants to get a fair price for there material
Place is a joke they always want to haggle with you about any auto scrap and if you take copper ,aluminum, or any decent priced metal they lie on the paper work about the weight. And don't try to see the scale they'll ask you to step back. Worst scrap yard in the county.
