We are very dissatisfied with the service our school has received from Republic Services. The trash pickup is extremely inconsistent. Even though we are contracted for specific pickup days, there are frequent missed pickups. To make matters worse, the driver often makes false claims that our containers were blocked, which is simply not true.
On several occasions, we have seen the truck drive right past our school without stopping, yet the system still records it as a “pickup,” likely just because the truck was nearby. After reporting these issues and even speaking with a manager some things improve, however the promise of follow-up calls are not kept, and the agreed upon corrected pickup day is not kept.
As a school, reliable waste service is not optional—it’s essential. Unfortunately, Republic Services has been unreliable.
Since Tynisia Boone became my dispatch person I have had fabulous service, including working through the devastation of Hurricane Helene. She proactively checks in to be sure the service is good and adjust my account to my changing needs. At least as long as she is there I am a loyal customer!!
Been waiting since last Wednesday to have my 8 yard recycling container emptied at our business. I have made five requests to have it picked up and they still haven't shown up. Every time I call I'm always told "a request has been sent." Have requested to speak to a member of management twice and still have not received a callback. The people who answer the phones are always super nice.
Update: Shortly after leaving this review I was contacted by a member of management. My container was emptied and parking lot cleaned the next morning. I have updated the review from one star to four stars.
Have contacted this company several times informing them that Spartanburg County has a noise ordinance stating that front load garbage trucks are not allowed to pick up before 7 am and yet here I am at 4 am typing because they are picking up commercial trash in a residential area at 4 in the morning. Next call will be to the county and the police if they can't follow the laws. It's not rocket science. No pick ups in residential areas of commercial size cans before 7 am
I have two accounts with Republic, both with Tynisia Boone. Tynisia always responds to my requests and is very helpful. Tynisia is a great asset for Republic!
Before Tynisia Boone, was our account rep for Republic Service, I wanted to pull my hair out. I never could get a response from our sales rep, nor get any resolution for issues we had. However, since she has taken over our account... It is like RS did a 180. She has been very helpful in looking over our spill overages, contacting the driver to help co-ordinate when we are open vs closed (we have a gate), looked over our needs and suggested options to lower our bill, AND she has actually called me back on numerous occasions. Tynisia even called to check on us randomly like a true sales rep used to do. Honestly... had it not been for Tynisia, I doubt we would still be customers of RS. She really is a fantastic account rep... who needs to train the rest of RS agents on how to take care of their clients. I hope we don't lose her, but if we do, I know she is getting promoted at RS or somewhere else!

I managed a commercial renovation project with more than 250 cubic yards of waste. Account management through the Republic website was a disaster. It took way too long to contact them by phone. I stopped using Republic and hired a local provider who did an outstanding job.
Reroofing a large warehouse in Greenville. Greg, the representative, was awesome and responded to my waste removal needs accordingly and the drivers were professional and time efficient. Will recommend and use them again on future projects.
We have an amazing Driver that picks up our compactor in Piedmont, SC. His name is Pete and he is awesome. He does a fantastic job of keeping our compactor emptied. We are more than pleased with his great service and attitude.
Republic has always been great about working with us when we renew services. Regular trash removal service has never been a problem, but we've had lot's of difficulty getting pick ups for our recycling. The last couple of days I've been working with Sandra to renegotiate our service. She's been a delight!
Horrible company. This company bought out a local company (Powell's) in Southern Greenville County, SC. that had a very good reputation. As soon as they took over, it was an immediate 180. They continuously miss pickup days and have missed two in a row as of right now. As expected: while they are not doing their job, they sure are not missing taking their payments on time! People in our community are switching to local companies in droves. Including us. Avoid if you have another choice.
Rep Rhonda Traynham was the best Disposal Services representative our company has ever dealt with, and we have dealt with others that do not compare. She is very professional, responsive, caring, and gets the job done. Our company had a unique request to have bins and a 96-gallon container that is typically used only for residential. Rhonda was able to make it happen, and we are so appreciative she was able to fulfill our request. We highly recommend Republic Services for your company's needs. You will not be disappointed.
I oversee an apartment community that uses Republic Services as our trash removal service. The team has been extremely attentive to our needs and always willing to assist, even if they need to forward to another department to take care of it. The absolute worst company. Unreliable, they don't live up to their word/promises. I canceled my service after multiple missed pickups, calling them, and told garbage would be picked up the next day, if you call prior to 4:00 pm. The garbage would never be picked up until the following week. I was told when I cancelled my service, the container would be picked up on 11/8, no pickup, was told the issue would be escalated and picked up on 11/9, guess what, no pickup, called and now they are saying it will be picked up on 11/17, I am beyond LIVID. Don't hold your breath waiting on a supervisor to call you.
We placed an order for two residential cans over 10 days ago. They were supposed to be dropped off on the 22nd of October. That came and went with no cans. I called and someone said she’d put in an order to have them delivered ASAP. It’s now Friday the 29th and I still have no cans. I called back for the second time and was told the same thing that they’d put in a request to have them delivered as soon as possible. I told her I’d already been told that once and she told me that the first woman I’d spoken to didn’t request to have it sent out ASAP. Okay, then what did she do? So now I’m waiting still on two cans I’ve paid 50.00 for. We had to take all of our trash off to the dump while waiting on these cans. I understand people get busy and behind but honestly I feel like we’ve just been forgotten and judging by other reviews it’s seems pretty common.
First 3 months of household trash pickup was fine. Fridays by 5. Then, no pickup and no customer service after 5pm. I called once or twice a week to ensure that my trash would be picked up for the next 6 weeks and it was Not. I called Sat a.m to report no pickup...I finally had to clear the trash from my property and haul it to the dump myself. During this time, i had a credit balance on my account.
Republic services is a example of what's wrong in our country and it's driven by greed. We had a good trash service until about a year and a half ago when Republic services bought out our trash pickup service. Since the change over it has been a nightmare. Its quite obvious that Republic services bought out Powell thus taking over a entire area without increasing their fleet of trucks and drivers.Currently we have trash that has been sitting out in front of our house for 2 weeks. Its not just our street. Its a entire area. Everyday we call Republic services and we hear the same lie. We will be there tomorrow. This is unacceptable. I suggest we all go on Facebook and Nextdoor and we organize to replace this trash service with someone else. We as consumers shouldn't have to put up with this.
Agree with all of the other poor reviews. Service has not picked up the past two weeks. Called multiple times last week for days after first missed pickup and was promised it would come that same day. Nobody came. I now have two weeks worth of trash waiting outside. Their rates also went up $15 per quarter. I’ll be cancelling tomorrow. Totally unacceptable.
This company is AWFUL. DO NOT USE THIS "SERVICE"!! They do not show up on time, they don't get all the trash, and then the missed pickups dont get rescheduled correctly. If you try to call to get it corrected you get terrible results.
I drove a uhaul truck to the landfill, the fill was so busy I could not fit my truck in and one of the workers informed me I could wait til 5;55 and drive up and unload my 2 couches and the other items I needed to have unloaded. My wife and I unloaded the couches and started to quickly separate the other items into the other bins because we did not want to be disrespectful and just throw plastic into the metal bins or trash where the wood goes.. anyways a man comes up to us at 6:05 and with a very disrespectful and rude attitude he said “ I don’t come up to your job and make you wait 30 minutes past closing to make a mess for you” unquote. And made us leave. So as we were told we could wait and unload after the rush of cars to be able to park our 85$ uhaul and unload our trash quickly and be on our way we were forced to leave, being yelled at by a worker there. Now I have to pay another 85$ for this uhaul to come back again tomorrow. Didn’t deserve to be treated like that.
This review is no joke. Republic is not picking up the trash weekly and therefor is not complying with there agreement. They certainly don't have any issues with taking your money. This is fraud and anybody having this issue should file a complaint with the state attorney. I will be filing a complaint. I will not put up with thieves that take my money and not provide the service. For filing a complaint contact sc.gov states attorney consumer complaints.
ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. Ive called 3 times this week to get my trash picked up which is now 4 days late. I was told each day they are sending emergency pick up. Yesterday I was told my pickup was scheduled at 5pm, and to call back at 5:05 if they were there, that they are open till 6pm, and they would get me with a supervisor. Well, I called at 5:05pm and the center was CLOSED. Well looks like you are in the right business Republic because you are absolutely TRASH. Now I have to go rent a truck so I dont have neighbors staring at a week and a half of trash over a holiday weekend. Congrats on losing a customer
We are part of the transition from Powell’s buyout. So far, we are paid up for the quarter but can’t get service. I have called, left messages & only get service when I call fussing after my can has sat street side from Sunday evening til Friday. I believe in giving new companies the benefit of the doubt & understand all that’s involved with the transition but at the same time this has gone on for weeks now so I am in search of a company with better service & cares about their customers. So disappointed in Republic!
I wouldn’t even give this place 1 star if I could. They bought out our old company and we have not received a trash pickup in 3 WEEKS everyone else around us that has the SAME company has been picked up. I’ve also been trying to get ahold of them and NO answer.
I will take my business else where. Not to mention I just PAID for the next 3 months.
When Powell owned this trash pickup they were so good. This week we never got our garbage picked up at all even though I called everyday. Pickup should be Tuesday but they never picked up. Called twice today and they showed I called each day but now the last call at 2:00 they said somebody scheduled it for the 3rd of Sept. I guess they don’t have a clue what day of the week it is. I will change service once my account comes due. Five days sitting in a hubpndred degrees does not smell good.
Extremely disappointed and angered by the treatment we've received as NEW PAYING CUSTOMERS.
I am a paying customer that started service in 7/20/20 in Fountain Inn by calling Powell's, whom I guess they bought out. We had a can to start from the previous owners. After the first pickup, they took our can away and despite calling over, and over, and over again, for 4 weeks now, requesting a can be returned, we have yet to see one. So, we've been piling our trash on the street every week since for our scheduled pickup day, which rarely even occurs on that actual day. They have been consistently a day or two late picking up. Last time we called we asked to speak with a manager, were transferred to a voicemail, and have not received a call back. Been calling this morning and no one will pick up. So fed up. This is the service you get as a PAYING CUSTOMER. Sadly since they are the only company servicing my area, they have a monopoly and don't seem to care that they treat their customers like this. We are getting our money back as soon as we can get someone to answer the phone.
Republic bought out the company we used to use (Powells) and the service has been poor at best. We have had our trash picked up twice since July 1. We have called several times to ask when our pick up day is and they don't know. We've been told Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday. I called on Thursday and was told I would be called back that day....they didn't .My wife called on Friday and reached the Arizona office and was told that was unacceptable and he would send emails and have it picked up. My wife called again this morning and was told by a "supervisor" that he would "try" to have it picked up today. We have four weeks' worth of garbage that has been sitting at the top of our driveway. Obviously customer service is foreign to Republic Services and we will be taking our business elsewhere. A refund of the quarterly bill minus the two weeks' service we did get is anticipated but not expected. It's how they operate.
Just received a notice in the mail this week that this company bought out the company I was using, Powell's.
Republic decided not to service any of Powell's customers on our entire road this week.
I guess this is what I can expect in the future.
You never get a second chance to make a first impression.
Update:
So, after complaining that we did not receive service on the first week, they finally showed up on week 2 (7 days late). It's now week 3 and no service today either. Apparently, maybe we can only expect service every other week. I hope they don't expect full payment, if they are only rendering half service.
I pass by this location everyday on my way to work and the people who drive these trucks are reckless. They fly down the road and one day on my way in I got stuck behind one of these trucks and trash was flying everywhere along the road and some of it got stuck on the front of my Jeep. I called the company to complain but they never got any of my contact information.
Have been using Republic Services for over 10 years. Was a great company until last year, now problems with the service and billing.
Now have to watch everything month to month with them.
