BRING YOUR CAR TO MASON & SONS. ITS SO MUCH BETTER. TRY IT ONCE YOU’LL NEVER MISS JAPANESE AUTO REPAIR. If I could give them less I would. I had my car towed on Wednesday morning. Called Thursday afternoon almost closing. I was told my car was too complicated so they would “tackle it on Monday”. That’s fair. I waited until closing on Monday to call. The rep told me nothing was done. They weren’t sure when they would analyze my car. I left a voicemail that night asking if I should tow my car to someone else? This was their response: “Hey Bill, this is Bill at Japanese auto I got your message. Please feel free to send whoever you want to tell your car away. Way too busy and this is not gonna be an easy fix so Please come get it take us somewhere else. Have a good day.…” the voicemail they left me. Mason & sons were done in 3 days. They are too busy and don’t care. Do not bring your car to this place. It’s a joke with customer service. 8 DAYS THEY DIDNT LOOK AT MY Car. 8 DAYS NO COMMUNICATION FROM JAPANESE AUTO REPAIRS. I SPENT $580 ON UBER DURING THIS PERIOD THEY DIDNT EVEN LOOK AT MY CAR. Do not trust this place. My quoted voicemail should be enough. Mason and sons will provide much better service especially customer service. Honestly, I am disgusted by the way I was treated by Japanese auto repair. Believe the negative reviews they are more honest.

If You Have A Older Z car they will not work on it. Basically If the kids working there can't plug it into a computer they don't want to get there hands dirty. I Do Not Call Them Mechanics !!!

I had a rattle coming from somewhere in the dash of my 2013 Camry. Initially, we thought a component on the steering column would need to be replaced (which was rather expensive). When they removed the steering column and were able to take a closer look, they determined that it was only a small bushing that needed to be replaced. This turned the problem into a much less expensive repair! I appreciate Japanese Auto's integrity and willingness to only repair what is needed. I have brought my cars to them for years and have only had positive results.

First time using this shop. I was happy with their service as well as turn around time. I already knew what repair was needed (front wheelbearing) However I will not be going back for additional service. I was charged over $600 to replace a driver side wheel bearing. After speaking with several other garages I was advised that I was over charged for a minor 1 hour repair.

I called Japanese Auto Specialists to inquire about labor costs for my 1991 Mazda Miata. To my surprise, they refused service because they "do not work on anything older than 2000." That policy does not make much sense, especially for a shop that claims to specialize in Japanese vehicles. Many Japanese models span across the 1990s into the early 2000s. For example, NB Miatas started in 1999 and continued until 2005. They share the same basic platform as the earlier 1990 to 1998 Miatas, just with some updated parts. Would they refuse a 1999 Miata and accept a 2000? It seems like an arbitrary cutoff that does not reflect how these vehicles were actually built. After reading other reviews, it is clear I am not the only one who has been turned away. Other customers with 1990s Hondas and similar cars have had the same experience. What is confusing is that the shop will publicly respond to negative reviews saying they will "address the issue," but even after a year nothing has changed. If you drive a newer model, maybe you will have better luck. If you own an older Japanese car, the very type of car this shop claims to specialize in, it is probably not worth your time.

I needed a timing belt replaced on a car I purchased and gave them a call. From the first call, they were extremely helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. They were able to quote me a price over the phone and didn't need me to bring it in, which a few other shops requested. I was able to schedule an appointment for that week, which was great. After my repair, I had an issue with another belt that was replaced. I gave them a call and they said I could bring it in and they took care of it. When I took it in, it was rectified within 5 minutes. I have to say, they have provided excellent customer service and I do plan on using them again for any repairs I may need on my vehicle.

Turned my buddies 280zx, and my Silvia S15 down even though they’re Japanese cars. Makes no sense that they would have such a name, but won’t consider helping us out with our JAPANESE cars.

First time using this shop and I'm quite happy with them. We had a minor issue with the first maintenance which the shop resolved very quickly which is a very good sign of their capabilities and how they deal with the occasional hiccups versus happy path. a shop that can work through things is golden. I am now scheduling out quite a bit of work with them that I've needed to do on my older Subaru. Just got done with the latest maintenance, replacing front struts at 260K miles. Still a great shop.

Called to quote some prices for some maintenance, spoke with Joni and she is the absolute best, very knowledgeable, professional and kind. Have earned my business from just a phone call. Highly recommend.

Enjoyed working with these folks to rehab a 2004 CR-V … much needed to be done, but Johnnie helped me triage and prioritize the work — did it in 3 steps … A/C compressor, full brake job, a lot of front end work, fixed several oil leaks and got engine cleaned up, plus some general maintenance… End result is my 20 year old car drives perfectly, with no rattles or bangs, nice and cool! Not cheap, but all the work was done very well and a good value. Highly recommend!

I've taken my car here several times and have been pleased with the service and price. I've never felt taken advantage of or pressured to make unnecessary/minor repairs. And I love that the owner is a woman!

Japanese Auto specialist refused to even look at or troubleshoot a 90s Honda Accord. Sorry guys customer service is a one-star. Either you work on Japanese stuff or you don't. It should be noted these 2.2 l Honda motors are some of the easiest motors to work on for an experience technician.

I brought my car in for a check up before taking a road trip. It's an old car, but only has around 55K miles on it. This was my first time going. The shop was very honest and the two ladies working at the front desk and very friendly.

I used to take my 2005 Toyota Camry there and received great service. I decided to have my 2019 Honda Accord looked at due to messages popping up on my dashboard. I used the company's website to request service on September 5th and I got a call on the same day to schedule the service for September 18th. I left my car there on the night before the 17th with my car info and there was no paper to put my information on even though I put it on the website. I called to check on my car and the lady (Johnnie) became argumentative and hostile saying I gave no information on my envelope (but I had it on the website and she had my number to call me to let me know of the appointment on 9/18.) So when she asked me what was wrong I tried to tell her about the messages and she told me some messages I needed to see first. She could've told me that information on 9/5 but she said she didn't remember the conversation. I just told her to leave my keys out and I will pick my car up. I did nothing to deserve hostile behavior for a service I had to wait two weeks for. That is very unnecessary and disrespectful.

Despite them being booked out for several weeks, I was allowed to have an old non-running car of mine that hadn't run in well over a decade brought over to them, which they got to as they started to get more capacity. They performed a full rundown diagnosis, including breaking the various stages for repair into smaller packages. Fair pricing - great quality workmanship and a very friendly crew to boot! Very pleased with the results and would highly recommend them to anyone who has need for car service and repairs.

This is best repair shop I have ever used. From communications to the repairs, there were no issues. Looked at a $5,000 plus job to repair the hybrid battery on our Prius. Bill was able to fix the battery rather than just replacing it. Saved me close to 75% on the repair.

I called around to multiple shops to get a “ballpark” quote for a vehicle that I was considering purchasing. The person answering the phone was extremely helpful and took the time to provide some great advice based on her knowledge of Subarus from this year and miles. I was very impressed with her going the extra mile to answer my questions and provide insight on my car purchase.

I have taken all my cars here since my first visit. The mechanics find what issues you are having and fix them. They diagnose the problem quickly and correctly. They don’t continue adding new parts until car is fixed and because of this their prices can’t be beat. They have treated me like family since day one.

Do your homework on what’s wrong with your car before taking your vehicle to this place. I took my truck to this shop because it was making a weird sound and I described that I would be selling the truck very soon and wanted to see what was wrong with the truck. All they heard from me was “weird sound”. They diagnosed that singular problem. They said I needed a new alternator and that they couldn’t diagnose any other problem until they replaced the alternator for $401. I declined the service and they charged me $70 for a bogus diagnosis, the mechanic drove my truck to the front of the store to return it to me with the hood ajar. I decided to take my business elsewhere and I’m glad I did. After taking my truck to a different mechanic the same day, it turns out there is a lot wrong with the car including a leaking water pump and broken timing cover gasket, unfortunate news but at least I got honesty and transparency and didn’t have to undergo a $400 dollar expense to discover this information. I would not recommend this place. If you know a lot about the exact issue with your vehicle this place might be fine, but if you go in blind or don’t know much about cars, be prepared to be confused and ‘nickled and dimed’, your best interest is not their priority. I give this business 2-stars because Japanese Auto Specialists were just flat-out unremarkable.

Best car shop I've ever gone to. Sent my car to their shop after it failed to start in the morning. They ran some tests over a couple of days and found that the battery had likely been drained by one of the interior lights being left on over night. When I asked them how much I owed them for their services I was told: "nothing." Needless to say I will be back should my car ever have any trouble, as this shop has already proven to be run with integrity and they've certainly gained my trust.

I first started coming to Japanese Auto in 2016 and they have been awesome since our first encounter. Mr. Bill and his staff are very easy to work with, very honest and straight forward, prices are very reasonable! As long as I have a vehicle they specialize in, I will always come here!

I only buy Japanese cars so that I never have to stop using Japanese Auto Specialists. I have been a customer for over ten years, and I have never had anything but a great experience with them. They are unfailingly honest, and they have no interest in getting you to pay for work that does not need to be done. When they find something worth noting - during an oil change, for example - they always explain it to my satisfaction, tell me the level of urgency, and explain the tradeoffs if I have any less expensive options. So, when they tell me, "You need to have this done immediately," I have confidence in what they are telling me. Their work always holds up, so I spend very little to maintain my cars, which have always been 150K miles plus. No one should settle for less than they give me!

My wife's Honda Odyssey began having issues on a quick trip down to Greenwood and back. We had a flashing CEL, VSA light, and it was driving roughly. I called another Toyota/Honda specialist and they said they couldn't get to it anytime Wednesday through Saturday, while we were out of town. I called Japanese Auto Specialists and they were extremely friendly and accommodating. We used the drop box Tuesday night and heard from them by early afternoon on Wednesday. They diagnosed the issue to be an extended warranty issue from Honda and recommended we call a Honda dealership to see if they will cover the repair. I asked what the cost for the diagnosis was......to my surprise she said not a thing! I really appreciated their willingness to help and the information they shared with me even when it didn't benefit them. They didn't know that I typically only drive Toyota/Lexus cars and their exceptional customer service just made a customer out of me. Thanks again!!!

I highly recommend this shop! They have fantastic attention to detail, amazing customer service, and reasonable turnaround times. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and honest. It’s hard to find a shop that won’t take advantage of its customers, especially since most people aren’t sure whether they’re getting a good deal or good pricing. Japanese Auto Specialists provides the best of both worlds: they have reasonable pricing and great service quality. Give them a try and you’ll be happy you did!

I have been using this place since I got my first car decades ago. Phenominal service, good prices, and most importantly, I trust them completely to do only what is needed and to do it well. They always call if there are any issues and are never pushy about getting unnecessary repairs.

I would give 10 stars if I could! Absolutely could not be more pleased with Japanese Auto Specialists. They got my car assessed and repaired in the same day! This was the very first time that I've ever done business with them, and they made me feel like I've been doing business there for years! They gave me recommendations for "down the road", without making me feel like it was a necessity for today. I also loved that they called me with a price before they began working on my 4Runner - it made me feel comfortable, and I knew what to expect at checkout! This was truly a pressure free, and absolutely stress free experience, and for that I will definitely be a return customer, and recommend them to anyone that drives a Japanese vehicle! Thank you!
