Though Tim's Automotive has been around for more than 30 years, I was new to discover them. After they moved locations, and settled in near my work (our businesses are neighbors now). I was able to go over and create a relationship.
Supporting a local small business is super important to me and its a sure way to support the local economy.
Finding a shop to work on "older cars" isn't always easy.
I knew with the experience and name behind Tim's Automotive we were going to be in good hands.
I brought my 1996 Ford Club Wagon E350 Van over and had a whole laundry list of issues to work out - one by one their Team worked together to knock out that list, and get us back on the road (keeping my wife, safe as the primary driver).

Probably a few other items I'm missing here...

My 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 5.7 hemi-engine's "check engine light" came on and at the same time it began running rougher. Until that day, it had always run smoothly.
I took it to my auto service shop, which I have used for 2-3 years and I like them. They ran a diagnostic on the code and determined that I needed a new engine. The cam shaft was warped, they thought. They gave me a price quote of $10,646.00, which included a $1000 discount, for a new engine. They promoted the engine supplier they used because of warranty coverage. I was ready to spend the money for a new engine because a new Jeep was more than I can spend at the moment. The Jeep has always been a great vehicle for me so I decided to get a second opinion.
I know someone with a Jeep Grand Cherokee exactly like mine, same year and same engine, who had a new engine put in his. I asked him if he could recommend anyone to look at my Jeep's problem. He recommended I take it to Tim's Automotive, which I did. The people at Tim's carefully examined the problem, investigated it, ruled out a couple of issues which potentially could have been the problem, before finding two broken solenoids. They replaced 2 solenoids and the Jeep runs great and strong and smooth again.

I've been going to Tim automotive service for years now. Benji is great at describing what's wrong and suggesting what's best for YOU, rather than getting The most bang for the businesses Buck. That keeps me coming back every time there's something wrong.
I’ve waited a while and after multiple visits to write this review. Tim’s is genuinely very fair and honest. Benji has been amazing to deal with! Finding an honest mechanic is hard to find- I’m so glad I’ve found this place! Not every mechanic will even work on my car since it’s not sold in the us anymore but Tim’s goes the extra mile (no pun intended) to find parts and make it work! I’m very thankful for the help they’ve been.
I called to get my timing belt serviced. I thought it was needed at 100,000 miles. After Tim researched the replacement interval he told me to wait closer to 150,000 miles. W0W an honest mechanic!! Other repair centers told me I was way past due. Thank you Tim's Automotive for being honest. I personally recommend these guys.
For the last few years Tim’s has done everything from water pumps and timing belts to alternators and oil changes for me. It always been well done and reasonably priced. Would recommend them for any automotive work you need done.

I will start my review with the latest, and finish with the positive, first experience. So...you can decide for yourself.
I took my car in last Friday...a very rainy and cold day. Had just finished my 3rd shift and fell asleep waiting for my Lyft ride home.
They wokee up to let me know a car was waiting...so I stumbled out in the rain to see if it was my Lyft. It was, so got in and the driver pulled forward and had to wait for traffic on Wade Hampton. Next thing we know, we get slammed into...a mechanic drove a customer's pickup into the door side, where I was seated. He pulled the pickup forward and complained that he "didn't see the car". Mr. Tim asked him how he wanted to handle it, and the mechanic replied, "insurance"...?!? So both my driver and I got wet and cold, it was cold in the office, and then the shop chose not to be responsible...even though this pacted 2 customers! The police arrived after a bit, found the mechanic at fault, had them CA the customer and informed the customer that they would be expected to file this with their insurance.
SO: I, personally, am not going to risk personal safety or my vehicle to such care. It is NOW, a "no go" location for me.
The first, and was positive, experience: Mr. Tim took a look at the car I couldn't start and had towed over before he opened. He got the car up and running again AND knocked out two issues I needed addressed all same day!! The price was definitely reasonable and I really appreciated his work and experience!
Great service and friendly people! Took my car to get it fixed and I frankly know nothing about cars and they got me fixed in the same day and explained the whole process in simple terms. Very reasonable price! Will certainly recommend them to anyone!
Tim, his son and his whole staff are great people. My family and I have been going to see Tim for over a decade and have always been treated fairly. You can trust Tim when he tells you what the problem is and that he can fix it. His whole crew are talented professionals. Occasionally they have a truck up for sale on the lot, if you see it and need one, buy it. I have!

Tim is an amazing and honest mechanic. He walks you through what is wrong with your vehicle and shows you what needs to be fixed before he does anything. He is also affordable! I am so happy to finally found a mechanic I know I can trust.
My and my partner's old Subaru Outback's air conditioning died halfway into our drive, on our way to celebrate our anniversary—it was particularly hot and humid that day, so we thought we'd try our chances at getting a recharge before continuing our drive.
Thankfully, we were right down the road from Tim's Automotive Service when we began looking for a mechanic. Tim was friendly and accommodating; he informed us of the underlying issue that needed to be taken care of, but recharged our air conditioning for a fair price so that we were able to comfortably finish our drive. We were back on the road with working air conditioning in about one hour!
Since returning from our trip, we were able to tell our mechanic exactly what needed to be repaired based on Tim's advice, and our car is now in great shape. I would recommend Tim's Automotive Service to everyone, be they residents of Greenville or just passing through!

He got me in and out same day, and at half the price of the previous quote! Honest, efficient, and the professionalism is leagues above any other shop I’ve done business with. My son recommended Tim's and boy am I glad he did. I have taken two different cars to Tim and always come out with a good repair and a reasonable price when compared to the dealership. My 2004 Van had an engine light come on with some misfiring. Tim's fixes the problem and doesn't add the full tune-up like you will find at the dealership. You will end up saving hundreds by avoiding repairs you don't need.
I took the same van to Tim's for burned out window motors about a year ago, and I was very pleased with the repair and the price.
Tim's also worked on a 2005 PT Cruiser I no longer have and did an excellent job with the repair. Again I believe Tim's save me hundreds.
You won't be impressed by the facilities, but it reminds me of my best friends dad's Cities Service Station in the late 1950's in Hollywood, Florida. We had fun maintaining and repairing our bicycles in the service bay!
Was referred to Tim by a client...Although he was busy, and had a constant stream of clients coming in, he still, was able to get my car on the lift and do an entire brake job while I waited. I was so shocked when I received the bill; it was less than half of what I was quoted from another local mechanic, and on top of that...he didn't tell me that I needed 10 other things repaired. He was honest, upfront and extremely reasonable. Tim's Automotive Service is my new go too
The best mechanic I have ever experienced. Down to Earth, on time, with great communication. He is very fair and will give you the real situation. Pricing is very reasonable too. I will be taking all my future business to Tim's!
I've taken my car to Tim several times. While no one likes to pay out alot of money for repairs I believe he is conscience of necessary repairs and expenses. If I can save money on a service he will tell me how to do so. When I take my car there I don't experience any uncertainties of his capabilities or question his work. He understands the urgency of having a car to get to and from work. He sets the expectations of when the car will be worked on and ready for pick up. I appreciate that from a mechanic. With confidence I would refer others to Tim's Automotive.
Top notch shop! I've had the honor of meeting Tim and his awesome team. They work with your time and schedule in mind, they get the job quickly without sacrificing quality of work (which is very good.) Very fair pricing. Tim has taken care of my cars for several years, and has earned my trust and loyalty on multiple occasions. I know he's going to do the right thing, even when it comes at his expense. Fair, trustworthy, highly competent -- what more could I ask for in a mechanic? I'd give him 6 stars if I could!

WARNING AND EDIT: TIM WILL HARASS YOU IF YOU LEAVE A NEGATIVE REVIEW. Tim called me and said that I left a review on the "Tim's Automotive website" (this is Google Maps not "your website", honey) that was untrue. He complained that I waited 5 years to write a review, that I didn't call him first, and that I was contradicting myself since the car was brought back in later. I explained that I wrote the review because it popped up on my Local Guides list and that I wanted to ensure that other people knew about my experience. I also explained that I did call and speak to him because I was furious about the situation, but that my father brought the car back because he wanted the air conditioning fixed correctly. Tim proceeded to tell me that he "looked at my reviews" and that I was "obviously unhappy with life." This is the ONLY one star review I have left and I'd now give them negative stars if I could.

Took my car in for an air conditioning fix. Told the staff repeatedly that I needed the car for a trip on Friday, and if the issue couldn't be fixed by Thursday night to return the car. I called Friday morning to pick up the car, but they said it was in pieces (directly against my instructions).
They replaced a hose but ordered the wrong size and told me they just "made it fit." I ended up having to get that hose replaced about a year later due to leaks. 0/10 would not recommend.
Had to have my radiator replaced. Not only did he do a great job but got it done that day and for $150.00 less than everyone in town. On top of it all he patched my tire for free! Tim is a great guy and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him! Thanks!
