Car came in for a simple fix and left worse than when it was dropped off. And when asking for an explanation why nothing was given and took no accountability for it.
WARNING!! The manager, Michael, authorized his shop to put parts on my car, I did not authorize. When confronted, he was extremely rude, consistently talked over me, and refused to remove the parts and not charge me for them. His words, “let’s agree this is the last time we do business.” The inside of my car also smells like weed now. Good luck if you do business with this shop.

Writing on behalf of my father, since he is an older man and doesn’t speak good English This shop made two mistakes:
1. They messed up the bolt on oil pan ( dad only noticed that the oil was dripping after driving for 2months)
- we called them last week and they agreed to fix it after dealership told us it’s 1,500$ to replace the oil pan. Thank you Josh for fixing it and installing a bigger bolt…not sure if it will last long…we will see.
2. They messed up the Carfax mileage, instead of putting 128k , we got 178k. (See pictures) which dropped the value of the car from 12,000$ to 7,000$ by Carfax.
Josh (manager) told me that he will fix it but he never did, told me to come back next time….very disappointed. At this point they lost us as their customer.

There are few places left that treat you like one of their own.
Context: Thanksgiving trip from AL to VA-9 hours. Passenger rear blowout on I85 northbound at about 4:15. We are missing the wheel lock key. They close at 5.
Shawn(hope I spelled that right) answered and went to work asking if a mechanic would stay late while she sent Clay and Justin to pick me and my family up. Jerry, Warren’s grandson, stayed late to start changing the tire.
We had a decision to make. 1 tire, 2 tires or put the spare on. We decided for one in case something else happened. After I’ve paid, Warren comes to let me know it’s all worse than we thought. Out of a genuine fear of safety he showed me that the other three tires were ready to blowout because of increasing splits along the outer wall/tread.
Jerry and another mechanic, whose name I forgot to ask (sorry!), stayed until almost 7 to make sure we were safe to get back on the road. Best 1500 I have ever spent and I couldn’t be more grateful for their team and the culture Warren has built since 2001.
If I could get all our work done on our two vehicles here, I would. Don’t hesitate to trust them. As a former auto repair manager, these people are the real deal.

Mike, Jeff and the rest of the team, including the ladies in the office were all very nice. Mike was very concerned he hadn’t wasted our money fixing a transmission that didn’t need it until I told him about how it felt to drive. When I went to pick it up there were some noises and the lady told me to come right back; I was surprised since it was after 5. They fixed the one noise and then when he did a test drive there was another. I told Mike I don’t time at work. He said they are going to come get my car since I work fairly close, fix it and return it me! So if you need a repair on your vehicle, I highly recommend Mike and his team.
I posted a review last week about this company and I was wrong about the business. I apologize to Performance Automotive. I have never used their establishment. I meant to post on Custom Specialties website. They replaced 2 throttle linkage cables in 2 weeks on my scooter. The first only lasted 10 days and they wouldn't warranty the labor or part. Come on, 10 days. I strongly advise not to use their shop.
I wish I lived in Gaffney so I could give them all of my business. My engine light started flashing while I was driving on I-85. I stopped immediately, saw that their shop was a couple of miles away on Google Maps, and drove like a turtle until I arrived. It was 5:30 p.m. on a Friday, and they still did everything they could to get me back on the road. They went above and beyond when they didn't have to, and for someone they didn't know. Highly recommend.
I am so happy right now!!!! Thank you Shawn for taking the time to work on my car to make sure my girls have a ride to school in the morning. I would definitely recommend him to anybody. Will definitely be taking my car back for a few other things I need done to my car.
Absolutely amazing service from the phone call yesterday to the time I picked up the car today I cannot say enough prices were more than fair!!! Update: took my vehicle back today and once again service was amazing. I can't say enough about how efficient everything is here. We dropped the car off last night and it was ready by noon. Had two tires replaced and also they took the time to check all the other fluids and let me know when you maintenance that might need to be done in the future. I can't say enough about this shop and all of the employees. I highly recommend for anyone looking for automotive service, tires, and they even sell used cars!
Best place I have ever taken a car to! Nice people, clean, organized & all around fastest service in Cherokee County! They had my car fixed in 27 hours! & of course can’t forget about Cali, their kitty front desk worker, she’s so sweet.. greeted me immediately ? Highly recommend!
I came in around 9:50am urgently needing a tire repair on a rental car, and the entire team here was absolutely amazing. I explained I had a 12pm flight out of CLT — nearly an hour’s drive away — and everyone immediately understood the urgency.
The lady at the front desk was incredibly kind, reassuring, and efficient in getting things started without delay. The shop crew — including another lady, a technician, and possibly others I didn’t get to see — were just as impressive. They worked together quickly and seamlessly to get me safely back on the road in time.
I truly can’t thank the whole team enough. Their professionalism and willingness to help under pressure really saved the day. I’m so grateful — and I highly recommend this shop to anyone who values excellent service and genuine care.

I always go to Performance Automotive for my car needs. They have the best prices, especially when it comes to an oil change in this economy, and they have great customer service. My child is 2 and they make him feel at home anytime I have to bring him with me. From watching cartoons to getting in their personal space. They always work with my schedule and allow me to drop off when I need work done
When it comes to reviews it's not the good ones you need to worry about it's the bad ones. Something I feel people often miss.
I had had a bad experience with them prior. My husband still decided to take his vehicle there when he wasn't sure what was wrong with it. The conversation was such that they were going to tow the vehicle and he had a feeling it was the computer and they were told to call because he would get his own part. It didn't end up being the computer but they didn't let us know that. In fact they never communicated with us until they called to say the car was done.
No I don't know about you but I've never been to a repair place where they didn't give you an estimate and tell you what was wrong prior to doing the work. Not a single time. The woman insisted that if it had been the computer they would have called but since it wasn't they just went ahead and repaired it. Not knowing if the customer was okay with that or if they could even afford the fix. I said so if it had cost $4,000 she would have just gone ahead and fixed it and assumed that the customer could afford it and wanted it fixed? Well no she said. So what is the threshold because this wasn't a one or $200 job. It ended up costing us $760 when we could have brought the car home and fixed it ourselves and only paid $165 for the diagnostic and the tow. Or at the very least gotten our own alternator for hundreds less.
I do have to wonder about all those cars they have for sale over there and if they aren't from customers who couldn't afford charges that they were not warned about. I would not recommend this place for anyone or if you do make sure you stay on them the entire time so they don't do something like that.
I get my oil changed and my vehicles repaired here. Best Oil Change Prices around. All experiences have been fantastic. Warren and the Front office keep you informed and always have a great attitude. They also prioritize really well. I was in a hurry to get a tire patched so I could make an appointment. Richard and Chris stopped what they were doing to make it happen. I appreciate the excellent customer service and quality work!
THIS PLACE CHEATED ME OUT OF HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TWICE. $907.00 , $200 FOR A HALF MILE TOW. OVER 500 FOR A FUEL PUMP FOR A 96 FORD F150. 120 STORAGE FEE WHICH I UNDERSTAND. TWO DAYS LATER MY TRUCK STOPPED ON ME. I NEVER HEARD THE FUEL PUMP COME ON AS I COULD BEFORE IT STOPPED. I THOUGHT I WAS OUT OF GAS. I PUT $3 GAS IN IT. STILL NO START. CALLED THEM THEY CAME FROM GAFFNEY SC TO SHELBY AND . CHARGED $85 FOR THE TOW. CHARGED $30 FOR GAS BECAUSE THEY SAID IT WAS JUST OUT OF GAS, WHICH WAS A LIE. TOTAL BILL THIS TIME WAS $175. ON TOP OF THIS. I NOTICE THAT IT WAS RUNNING VERY ROUGH. THEY HAD CROSSED THE SPARK PLUG WIRES.. WHICH HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH ANYTHING.. I KNOW I'LL NEVER NEED ANYONE'S MONEY THAT BAD TO CHEAT THEM. THE MAY THINK ITS OVER BUT ITS NOT.

I was on the way home from a business trip with my Escalade and enclosed trailer when the engine had a complete failure. It was after 5pm and I found myself in a dangerous place off the interstate. There was nothing around me, and I was concerned I’d not get adequate assistance. After a few calls, one of the other unavailable tow companies said I needed to call Performance Automotive right away. It was the best call I could’ve ever made.
Opie immediately picked up the phone and said he’d be right there and to not worry about anything. I had lot of questions and concerns, but he put me at ease. He arrived quickly, and towed me to a nearby convenience store, where his wife and family met us to tow my trailer with their personal vehicle while Opie towed my Escalade on the rollback to Performance Automotive! This was incredible to me! Both items arrived safely and they took great care to ensure that. Once we arrived at the business, they overheard me talking on the phone about getting an Uber to a nearby hotel. Opie said no way would I be needing an Uber, and his own Sister and Wife, along with their kids, took me in their own personal vehicle to the hotel.
The next day after I determined I needed to get my vehicle and trailer back to Virginia, Performance Automotive quoted me a price that was less than any other local company I could find in VA. Again, Opie was my driver back home. He picked me up in the morning from my hotel, and we had an enjoyable ride to VA with lots of conversation, and interesting discussions. If you are ever in need of towing or automotive repair, Performance Automotive will not only perform impeccable service, but also treat you fairly, and give you honest advice. I only wish I had them in my backyard. I’d certainly have them maintaining my vehicles. Opie and Performance Automotive are everything you could ever want in a hometown mechanic and towing company. As a small business owner, I respect the work they do, and am forever grateful for their service. I now have them saved in my phone should I ever find myself stranded or in need of assistance in South or North Carolina. I suggest you do the same!
