Disgusting beach. And there was red algae’s on the waters… came here when it’s 87° out and noon it was way too hot on the sand. Maybe not recommend for people who can’t handle the extreme heat wave here.

Very clean sand and waters. Beautiful beach although the water was too cold for me to go in. Others seemed ok! Area that is lifeguarded is small but you can go on the non town beach area with no lifeguards - a bit more space. Wanted to clear up the parking fees for out of staters. There’s a parking lot super close to the beach that is $40 on weekends. Literally a two minute walk right behind at the marina you can park for $20.you pass this on the drive in. Cash only! We had to turn around to get to an atm at the gas station. This parking lot Seems to fill up though so arrive by 11 or just go later when people are leaving. This area has a nice spot for kayaking. Also a clam shack. The other places people talk about for food are not at the beach directly. They’re about a 3-5 minute drive up the main road. Grab that snack on your drive in.

Clean, quiet (at night) and cute. Will return. Didn’t pay parking bc it was later in the evening. It was $20 otherwise and as I understand, no half day rates. I’m doubtful you could find parking half day anyways. But it’s a nice beach.

Nice beach, well maintained. Would give a higher rating if parking wasn't outrageously priced and the parking staff wasn't rude. Should have a half day parking rate.

This place is beautiful, I went to see the sunset which would have been beautiful on the bridge just before the beach, of the clouds weren't covering the sunset, it would have been the prettiest sunset ever. But back to the beach where there was people on the beach with there jeeps and SUV'S, there was a crowd of people with a fire ? pit lit and others just having a picnic. This was one of they prettiest beaches I've been to. I added some pictures of the bridge where you can see the sunset at it's best...

There was a staff member from a nearby private property being VERY unprofessional towards the life guard (he seemed to think they owned the entire ocean) but no matter how belligerent, combative, and even physically and psychologically threatening he became, the lifeguard was firm but 100% professional. I mentioned it to the supervisor when he came by but I'm not sure he fully understood how terrible the situation was. I 100% recommend this beach I wish there were professionals to stand up for my rights like that everywhere I go.

Beach is beautiful. It has coarse New England sand and decent waves. We went on a Monday, at the end of July. There was lots of seaweed clumps left behind after raking. Also the portable potties at the end of the parking lot had empty hand sanitizer dispensers and non-pumped potties...at 9:30am! Bathrooms in main building were closed. When we asked staff how long it would be, we were told a half hour and they clean them every hour due to Covid! We paid $20 to park and thought we would at least have access to usable facilities!

Scary crowded, even though they limited parking. More room at low tide....or walk the adjoining beach below high tide mark. $30/weekend day is steep. Water was lovely though.

This beach is wonderful. Its a great place to just hang out and swim with your friends. It can be pretty crowded at times but its not to bad. The water is wonderful and the beach is clean.

Great beach for the local residents, but in the off season Anyone can go enjoy the sun, surf, fish from the shore or the great breechway. Also the large salt pond is great for Claming and excellent for families with little ones who can be as loud as they want.

Really nice beach. Parking is a little pricey for non residents, but I went for a couple hours after in technically closed so no issue. The parking lots get chained closed at 9 so make sure your car is out of there before then. Clean beach, well maintained. I'd go again.

Our first choice for the beach was full, so we ended up here. We went on a weekday ($20 to park). The beach is very small, but quiet. It was extremely rocky in the water (we were there during high tide). The kids and I were boogie boarding and our legs and feet were dripping with blood when we got out. Small waves, but some of them were very strong and knocked us over, so watch little ones closely. There's an ice cream cart at the entrance. The bathrooms are in the parking lot, which is a bit of a walk from the beach. No showers, but there is a rinse station outside the bathrooms to do a quick rinse. We had a great day there! Just watch for those rocks at high tide!

Always a favorite spot in the summer! So many wonderful memories here for so many generations of our family. It's not really big, the waves are usually small which we like. Great for the kids

Beautiful Sandy beach with lots of room for walks. Can be crowded on nice weekends, but usually there's plenty of parking. Facilities are available for free, but parking ranges from $10-20+ depending on the day and location.

I came with parents and kids. The wait staff here is exceptional. I saw some tacos, but they were fish. I asked if they could make them chicken and they were amazing. Oh and if you are wondering the mango salsa is the way to go.

Great place to watch the boats go in and out. The surf can be a little rough, and the waves close out close to the beach. But on a calm day the water is usually seaweed free and clear.

This is a very nice beach with a great view. You can even see Block Island at the distance.

First time at this beach and enjoyed it ! Parking can go either way (full quickly or one spot left !) $20 . Bathhouse closed by 5 , inconvenient if you're there with kids and not staying in the area.

This is definitely one of the nicer beaches in the state of Rhode Island. My family spent the week in Charlestown and the beach was probably the best part of the trip. It was never super crowded like Misquamicut, but the only downside is the fact that there are very few waves due to block island getting in the way

Definitely a hidden gem amongst RI beaches! Have been here are a couple of times and have never been crowded out like other beaches over near Westerly. Parking is your normal cost and I'd recommend parking up the road a little for half the cost since it's a hike to the beach either way.

Great for collecting beautiful rocks and sea glass. Surf and current are too strong for swimming, plus there's a drop off. There's a lot of sea weed and algae, which make fishing a bad idea. And there are some of the biting-est bugs in the state up on the dry sand. I'm glad we went for the sea glass, but won't go back. Blue Shutters is way better.
