Had a good first experience bringing a truckbed of copper. Second experience I went alone without my father and I received $2.60 for #1 copper pipe and $2.50 for #2 copper. When I called ahead and they told me prices were $3.50 and $3.40. They did get my brass and romex correct. I didn't check my receipt until I got home so my loss. Unsure if it was a mistype or they thought I wouldn't notice but you got me. Won't be taking the extra drive for Berger's anymore.
Brought some aluminum received a fair price and I was in an out in minutes. Very nice staff from the employee who unloaded me to the friendly woman in the office.
There are recycling places closer to me but Berger is definitely worth the ride.
Awesome business. Great people. FAIR, friendly. I drive the extra time passing other metal yards to specifically come here because the service is so good and fair.
They run a smooth ship over here with very respectful staff. We called ahead to give a notice on how much scrap we had and then showed up, unloaded, and got payed in the blink of an eye. They also let us buy some stuff from inside. We will always go here.

Have been here three times, each with the same materials with every load being significantly bigger than the last and spaced out about 3-6 months apart. The first two times were the exact same dollar amount and the third was $1 more. I am not a scraping expert I figured I would give them the benefit of the doubt and went on with my day. Today I went to a different scrapyard with less of the same materials I've been scarping and was paid out more 6x the amount I got paid at Berger. I don’t know what the problem is at Berger maybe because I am young they thought they could get away with it, but what I do know is I will never scrap here again and wont be recommending anyone to scrape here.
A family owned and operated local gem! Everyone is friendly, and will help you find exactly the materials you need for your project at unbeatable prices. I went in to purchase brass bar stock and they promptly located their stock and helped me find the sizes I needed.
Plus, beyond the service with a smile, they have some seriously cool WWII home front posters behind the counter you should take a look at when you check out. I highly recommend Berger for any metal purchasing needs.
Really helpful folks -- I had a very small load (of minimal value, but too heavy for me to remove). The good folks at Berger helped me find someone who would come take it off my hands even though they really didn't need to.

Honestly I don't know much about recycling but I also know this this company is on point Josh was extremely freaking awesome and explaining many things to me that I did not know. I will also be moving all of our recycling to this company now. Highly recommend and because I have a puppy with me they are willing to come out to my car and handle the whole thing from my car that's pretty awesome. Spent 3 hours one afternoon sorting through the countless buried treasures here. I collected a neat pile of silverware and hollow ware awash with fabulous marks of Reed & Barton, Gorham and Wallace, at a fraction of the cost one would encounter in antique stores. This is a pickers paradise, with extremely friendly, knowledgeable staff, the front office administrator was very sweet when taking my information for an appointment, from beginning to end this was an afternoon of marvelous finds, possibly the best find was this business. Truly a New England hidden gem that should be on EVERY antique hunter, reseller and pickers list of stops. You and your pocketbook will not be disappointed!!!
Took a bunch of mixed metals from my parent's estate in. Adam came out and examined and sorted each piece, talking to me about what he was doing. He was kind and smart and helpful, every inch the friendly professional. Will definitely go back if I ever need this sort of help again
We had difficult logistics on our project, scheduled a "live" load, and, at the last minute, we had to ask them to drop the rolloff on-site. Not a problem. Dealing with aluminum recyclers is always a leap of faith in the many states in which we work. Magically, many of the recyclers weigh our aluminum and it pretty much nets out to the cost of the rolloff. Not at Berger. They held a nice amount of cash for a couple weeks until we could return to retrieve it. They were helpful, honest, and actually helped us source additional services we needed as we were new to the area. I look forward to working with them again. They're good people.
I just purchased a fabulous 55 gallon rain barrel from this super cool place I found in The Bucket! Berger Recycling has all kinds of cool used stuff they’ll sell you, including sinks, ladders, and rain barrels! Mine was $25 and previously contained iced tea. The people were really nice and Josh loaded my barrel into my car for me. If you like scrapyards and upcycling, it’s definitely worth a .
I was looking for an inexpensive used food grade drum, and the team at Berger Recycling were really helpful both in their communication in person and at the recycling center. The location was also convenient, right off of 295. I will likely come back again is they have any tools or materials that I could use for my business.
Friendly atmosphere with a great family story. Family owned and operated which gives off a warmer feel than your typical scrap/ recycling yard. I went to Berger to quote a property improvement job for them, and ended up finding some useful steel and antique’s at a great price. All buyers and sellers this place worth checking out!
I have finally found the best place to buy used material for my sculptures. They are far and away the friendliest and most supportive metal scrap company I have encountered. I have looked in PA, NYC and now RI. They helped me stay safe while I sorted through copper and I feel comfortable recommending them to other young artists. I cant wait to go back and work with them again.
Anyone who is not happy with the trade in cost- just go elsewhere and get grumbled at by the grumps! There are 99% of the rest of the scrap world where you can air your grievances.

The owner challenged me to leave a negative review, so I'm relating an honest account of my experiences in my last 2 visits. We're cleaning out my deceased father-in-law's basement. About 2 weeks ago, I called and was quoted $3/lb. for #1 copper pipe scrap. I brought down quite a bit. Berger Recycling listed it all as #2 (for less money). When I protested, the manager was rude but grudgingly re-rated over half of it as #1.
When I brought more today, nearly all #1, they paid me the price I received 2 weeks ago for #2 copper pipe scrap. It was lower than all the prices I found on Google for copper pipe scrap in Rhode Island. When I objected, the owner spent 15 minutes cross-examining me as if he were a lawyer and I was on the witness stand. It felt like he was trying to convince me I was stupid or ignorant. He said that the prices listed on Google were fake, without seeming to know anything about the websites where they were listed.
Why would he do that if he was truly giving me a fair price? In the future, I will go out of my way to avoid selling scrap to Berger Recycling. I don't like the way they treated me.
I went to see Josh to get a pair of stainless steel tanks which he had waiting for me when I got there. While loading them, I saw some other items I was interested in as well. He was super friendly and great to do business with. If you need any scrap materials I would definitely recommend checking with them first!
