There are rest stops all over the U.S. and then there is the unique and BEAUTIFUL McKee’s Half Falls Rest Area in Port Trevorton, PA at which we have stopped for a picnic lunch annually for over 10 years as a half-way stop on our bike trail trips to the Cedar Run Inn B&B (and more) in Cedar Run, Pa, yet another wonderful setting in Northern Pennsylvania and located next to Pine Creek, and right on The Pine Creek Bike Trail.
A very nice stop for a place to walk the dog and to use the restroom. Take your time and stroll through the grounds and you will get a real feel for the mighty Susquehanna River.
Nice place to stop 🛑 and stretch, picnic tables available if you want to eat out without having to order food 🍱 then wait for someone to make it and bring it. Water 💦 rushing over the small falls is soooo relaxing ☺️ 😌 and enjoyable … 👍😃
Nice little rest area overlooking the Susquehanna. We stopped on our way to Knoebels Amusement Park, so the kids could stretch their legs and check out the River.
Great location for a quick stop along the highway. The view of the Susquehanna River is beautiful and makes for a peaceful break during a drive. It’s a simple rest area with picnic spots and a scenic overlook. Just a heads-up , the restroom is a pit toilet and there’s no running water, so plan accordingly. Still, worth a stop for the view alone!
My family and I stopped here on our way back from a hiking trip to use the bathroom and walk our dogs. The view of the river was lovely, but the complete lack of maintenance left us disgusted. The garbage cans by the picnic tables were overflowing and trash littered the grass. The restrooms lacked toilet paper, there was feces smeared on the toilet seats, and there are piles of trash on the floor. There is no way to clean your hands - no sink and hand sanitizer dispensers are empty. Awful experience at what would be a nice rest area of anyone bothered to maintain it
My favorite place to take a break when traveling north of Harrisburg. Relaxing stop, not to busy. Get out and stretch, walk down to the river and put your feet in the water.
Was driving back to Rochester New York from Washington DC, left at about 1:00 a.m. in the morning, arrived here 7 am, saw the sunrise and pulled over immediately. Absolutely beautiful view. Add small toilets, add barbecue pits and picnic tables. A little further up the road going north and there was an even larger opening.
Beautiful place to stop and enjoy a picnic, there are even some grills available. Or just stop by and relax and let life's busyness melt away by soaking in the peacefulness of the scenery. Occasionally you'll even see some kayaks or small fishing boats.
We really love this place. It is right next to the river. During spring and summer, every time when we travel to the North East from DMV area we stop here. It has a marvelous scenic beauty.
Nice scenic look, beautiful sunsets and a nice natural beach and darn good fishing at certain times, but definitely a Pennsylvania gem that's only missing a historical geo cache!
It's one the best rest areas in and around Route 11/15. You got the comfort of stopping by for grilling or a quick stop to eat. They got plenty of picnic tables and grassy spots to lay a blanket down and enjoy the scenery of the Susquehanna River. Very clean and accessible bathrooms. But the view is magnificent. You can take awesome pictures here. It's very romantic also. Stop by and take a gander yourself. You won't be disappointed. Plenty of parking also.
Beautiful place to stop and see the river and be able to walk down to it! The bathrooms are fancy outhouses that need more toilet paper. Plenty of trash cans and a few picnic tables
Nice rest stop available to northbound traffic on Rt 15. Restrooms, a pet area, grills, picnic tables and a small sandy beach next to the river that sounds so soothing due to the rapids here make this a nice place to relax before continuing your trip.
A very nice location rest area to enjoy the scenic river view. Not lot of car parking spaces , max about 20 cars. We did not used restroom but it could be there. A resting bench looking towards the stream.
