Sucks that the building is taken down. I was hoping to take a photo of history. The good thing is you can see a mound of coal

I was in town and stopped to takj with the facility manager and asked for a tour , if he was inclinced, he gave my son and i a tour , including out to the mag excavator. He tossed two 40 bags of pea size in the back of my vehicle as a gift. My family worked at the Nanticoke breaker in the late 1800s into 1900s ..died of black lung or the Chinese Avian H1N1 of 1918 ( known as the Spanish flu, or influenza ) that killed 0.5 Americans, old , young , and also adults . That family tree branch is dead from mining and influenza

It's a shame history is being taken away, but do your research and it is really cool to read about

By the time that you read this, the St. Nicholas Coal Breaker will likely be completely dismantled and sold for scrap. But there was a time when it was the largest coal breaker in the world, breaking and sorting coal to be sold for home heating, industry, and everything else that coal was used for. It operated from 1931 to 1965 and used to sound "like thunder" when operating. Those times are gone now but we should remember them.
