The VIP experience was all good. The haunted houses were done very well as were the actors that interacted with guests. The length of time was more than I thought it would be. $75.00 was a bit steep though. As for the Speakeasy and entertainment, that lacked in a big way. The food offered to purchase was not in anyway impressive as well as the lack of drink choices. The gift shop was normal compared to other places that have gift shops. I say go for the haunted house part but skip the VIP pass.

Very cool piece of history. I like that you have some freedom to walk around without a guide. The only thing I would change is to have smaller tour groups so the spaces aren't as crowded during the experience.

Really cool experience you get the freedom to roam almost every building there. They let you borrow some of the equipment to use. I personally didn't have any experiences this time but plan to go back as soon as possible

I wouldn't say I disliked this place and I wouldn't say I liked it. Its been very many years since I went here and on a whim wanted to go again. I was expecting it be much more than what it was, more scare. I was disappointed in that. I didn't even jump once. The graphics, the staff, the actors and the affects were all amazing, just thought for what it is, there was more to it. I got the VIP tickets which were nice, didn't have to wait in line. So price point was ok if you dont like lines.

This was definitely a fun experience if your looking for a haunted house attraction but there aren't just actors dressed up in costumes here giving people a brilliant scare. There are spirits haunting the place that suffered there in life and if you research it. Pennhurst opened in 1908 and was forced to close in 1987 because of the atrocities that happened there. It's sad to know how many decades people suffered there. I won't go into detail because you can research it on Google but the attraction especially the underground tunnels are pretty cool! The actors did an amazing job and their make up was top notch! I would actually like to go on a tour here.

My first visit to Pennhurst Asylum during a Halloween haunt event was both thrilling and enlightening. The event allowed access to three different buildings and a section of the tunnels, providing a unique blend of entertainment and a glimpse into the asylum's haunting history. The atmosphere was charged with the eerie history of the asylum, enhancing the overall experience. The meticulous attention to detail in the decor and the themed elements of the attractions truly brought the setting to life. The actors portraying mad doctors, deranged patients, and mutated zombies were commendable. Their involvement added intensity and realism to the haunt, captivating those present and immersing them in the narrative. The mix of robotic and human elements in the attractions was well-executed. Each room was thoughtfully designed, contributing to a cohesive experience that kept visitors engaged and entertained. The scares were well-timed and creative, making each attraction memorable and leaving a lasting impression. At the end of the event, I appreciated the opportunity to walk through a building showcasing merchandise alongside informational displays. The signs detailing snippets of the asylum's history were intriguing, offering a glimpse into the darker past of the facility. It was chilling to contemplate the experiences of individuals who resided there, especially those whose conditions were misunderstood or misdiagnosed. The sheer scale of the property and its various structures further fueled my curiosity about its history. Overall, my experience at Pennhurst Asylum left me with a mix of thrills and thoughtful reflection. The blend of entertainment and historical context was executed beautifully. I look forward to returning in the future to delve deeper into both the haunted attractions and the rich, complex history of this notable site.

Highly recommend the Halloween haunted house experience. Definitely putting the regular daytime tour on the short list to experience next!

Quite possibly the BEST Haunted Mazes and attractions in Pennsylvania. I've been to Hershey Park Dark Nights, Dorneys Halloween Haunt, Great Adventures Fright Fest, Field of Screams and Bates Motel. None of them can topple the Current Champion Penn Hurst.

I returned toPennhurst Asylum this year after having such a fun experience four years ago. I emjoyed the creepy atmosphere and how much the experience leaned into the asylum’s dark history. I found the attraction still enjoyable, but noticeably more commercialized. While the production quality remains high certain rooms didnt feel on theme such as the Stranger Things installation. It felt somewhat disconnected from the core theme of Pennhurst’s haunted legacy. That said the last house totally delivered! It brought back that unsettling, authentic asylum energy I remembered from my first visit. For those planning a trip, I highly recommend purchasing VIP tickets. The general admission lines were extremely long, but with VIP access, we were able to complete all four attractions in under 90 minutes.

This was amazing, thoroughly enjoyed it. Best haunt we've been to yet. The actors/actresses were very good. Perfect balance of professional and personable. Props were designed well. Thrilling and actually made us jump. (Her more than me) Would definitely recommend this more for adults than kids. (Though we did see some there)

this is a very high quality haunted attraction. stellar lighting, actors, and props. I can’t say enough about all the time and effort that must go into something like this. unfortunately, the large crowds make it difficult to truly immerse yourself in the experience. thousands of people just shuffling through one long line like cattle from start to finish. disappointing.

I had alot of fun here. The actors were great as well as the props and sound effects. The food and drinks were good choices. I loved the horror gift shop and Pennhurst Asylum apparel. Be warned however if you dont like crowds or actors jumping up and touching or brushing past you, be smart and make your best judgement. If you are also very spiritual and empathic, I also explore you not to go into the exhibits. I was in all 4 exhibits (The catacombs, Hospital, Morgue and Tunnels) and you start to feel your heart racing, sometimes I would sharp pokes in my chest including scratching, grabbing, kicking and at 1 point as I was on my way from the hospital to the morgue just leaving the hospital, I felt an icy hot touch holding my right hand. If you get freaked by it, I warn you to not go in. They have event staff and security all over, so if you have to leave at any time, do not hesitate to let them know. Also if you can't where you parked your car, event staff will help and I had a situation like that. They were very helpful in locating my car. Now to warn after 12:30-1am, if you dont make your way to your car fast enough and you are still at the Asylum, the lights will go out and my anxiety and fear spiked. I am not a fan of the dark especially in haunted places. Overall it was fun and we all had a good time!

The tunnels made me pee, so 10/10 the attractions should have been just a little bit longer. But overall excellent time

Amazing I absolutely recommend. We went on a Friday night a week before Halloween and we got through everything in 1 1/2 hours. We waited most 20 mins per line. We were not bored in the line though as amazing music and great actors were entertaining us. I have been to many places in the area like bates motel and it tops all of them. At the end there is even an area with treats. I will definitely be back next year.

Went to the Haunted 4 attraction on Sunday around 8:30 PM. We got VIP, so there were ZERO lines. My best advice is to pay for your tickets in advance because it's well worth paying for VIP.💪🏾💯💯 We drove 1hours and 53 minutes from Trenton to get there. Each Attraction took about 10/15 mins to walk through. It was Super CREEPY!!!!!! (Scared the Hell outta me)🙈🙈🙈 The actors were phenomenal. Their makeup and outfits were incredible, right on point. Couldn't tell what was a statue and what was the real thing!!!🌕⚰️🏚️🧟♀️🧌😱😱🗡️🕯️ The only physical contact they made was touching our shoulder or getting close enough to me or touching my hair. Other than that, it was cool. Definitely plan on attending next year!!!❤️

If you're like me and you enjoy everything about Halloween then this place is it! I recommend doing all 4 attractions. Prepare yourself for a lot of walking and long lines on the weekend. I suggest buying vip passes to avoid some of the waiting. Hands down this is definitely one of the best haunted attractions in the tri-state. I highly recommend checking this place out 💯💯

They deserve NO STARS. I never leave reviews but this is much deserved. ALL 4 ATTRACTIONS are you just walking through strobe lights. The actors are not energized to scare you they just walk past you. The wait is 30-45 minutes per attraction. Please do not waste your money and time. TERRIBLE MICKEY MOUSE EFFORT

Awesome night for Halloween attraction!! Lots of people and Animatronics. Great displays. Also went ghost hunting on another occasion. Definitely active and fun night.!!

Penhurst was so much fun and so worth the drive!! Great actors, great makeup, great animatronics. Short to nonexistent lines for VIP, which is totally worth the extra cost. If you think about it, it's only $10 more for each attraction for VIP. Everyone was so nice and things were well-organized. I had a TON of jump scares. We were able to go from one area to the next quickly. I've been to a lot of haunted houses and this was one of the very best, esp for the number of ppl. There was a 18 year old kid in the gallows that wouldn't stop screaming like a little girl so after getting away from him it was better. We want to go back in November for a paranormal investigation. And for all the ppl that cannot find the place, they've shut down all the roads into Penhurst so there's only one way in from Church St. It's on the map.

Couldn’t have been more impressed with Pennhurst. I drove up from Virginia Beach and was immediately struck by the sheer size of the campus. Everything about the production was nothing short of professional. I left with a deep appreciation for the history of the facility and cannot wait to return next year.

Best Halloween experience. We love coming here during Halloween. The animatronics are amazing and the actors do a great job. Overall a great and spooky experience. Would highly recommend getting VIP tickets to skip the lines. It can take a very long time if you get general admission.

Went there on 10/10/2025. The trip is about 2 hours and 15 minutes from Baltimore, and that’s too long a drive for any haunted attraction for me. My limit is 90 minutes and my perfect drive to a haunted attraction is a 60-70 minute drive. Here is my rating system: Quality of attraction: 5/5 Waiting time in regular line: 5/5 Entertainment (actors) working the line: 5/5 Concessions and store: 5/5 Price of admission compared to attraction: 5/5 I got in line for the trail at 6:50 and got in the first of four attractions immediately. There was a five minute wait to get into the second attraction, which is absolutely fine. The scare actors did a great job in the attractions. Each of the four attractions took 10-15 minutes to complete. The range of material was superb and there were excellent scares throughout. There aren’t many things to do outside of the attractions. Just a basketball throw and walk through a Halloween park. The experience is very linear and you can’t pick the order in which you experience the haunts. You also can’t access the concessions/store until you complete the haunt. The concessions were fantastic with lots of variety. The merchandise store had lots of variety and is one of the largest I’ve seen for an haunt. Overall, Pennhurst is a great haunted attraction, with a few tweaks, could be the best experience around!

It was my 4th time going there, and it’s always such a blast — every visit feels like the first time! So lively and fun! My kids love it too! The actors are amazing, and the decorations are super cool. Thank you for another great experience! 🎭🎉

The anticipation is killing me! What a great experience. Lots of cool props and fun atmospheres. Some flelt too short but they weren't lacking much otherwise. I don't scare easily but I can get surprised and I got one or two legitimate surprises. The aesthetics make up for me not being scared so it was overall fun. The VIP is worth it not to wait. The wait times didn't look too bad but it speeds it up quite a bit. Went early Oct so the lines were shorter than they might get late October.

Super fun activity! Better organized compared to last year! Food court at the end of the event. Speakeasy for special events. Actors and rooms were excellent. They do touch you. Be prepared for pitch dark rooms. Great show and excellent event. With vip pass takes about 1hr to complete.

I had a freaking blast. Yes, I screamed a little. The tunnels are amazing, the actors are great at their jobs, I will be going back again!

This is a super scary, but well organized haunted experience. It’s easy to navigate with lots of staff and signage. The scares are great! We went through the asylum, morgue and tunnel. The tunnel was my favorite! The actors are great! Be prepared they touch you but are still respectful and don’t overdue it. I highly recommend during fall and Halloween - the decor and experience are worth making the trip. There is good and beer at the end for your troubles!

Our ghost guide Devon was absolutely amazing! She really made our experience worth it turning our paranormal investigations. She was always checking in to make sure our experience was great during the investigation and helping us when we needed it. Will be coming back to do more investigations again since the experience was such an amazing one! Thank you Devon (tour guide) for making our experience great!

We came for the 7pm-2am investigation yesterday and it was incredible! Devon (guide) was so helpful and taught us how to use all the equipment. She helped us work through if what we caught was evidence. We had the most insane experiences in the mayflower basement and the Rockwell tunnel. I would absolutely come again.

We went on an exploration of this place and it was a very spooky journey. The history behind the place is so sad and wild. There are a lot of rooms to go through with a lot of items to find. There is also a lot to see outside of the building as well
