Pine Grove Furnace State Park in
Gardners (PA)

We biked part of the Appalachain Trail. Scenery was gorgeous and people we passed along the way were friendly.

We love this state park! Great place to camp and they have awesome trails. Bathrooms are updated but we're a little dirty this past visit. Hopefully next time they will be cleaner... But overall, it's a wonderful place to take the family and explore the outdoors!

I have more pictures but they're on my computer currently The view is breathtaking the hike wasn't horrible I wasn't knowledgeable of the path however little math they give you at the tiny billboard where I parked informed you and what area was what and trails. Trails are marked, cross paths have wooden signs saying what goes where. Overall a pretty good light hike the blue one 3/4 of a mile rough terrain but still pretty decent.

My son and I spent an entire day soaking in the sunshine, exploring trails, and playing by the lake—and it was perfect. The weather was gorgeous, the views were stunning, and the peaceful vibes were everything we needed. We made memories, had laughs, and just fully unplugged from the world for a bit. ?? This park is an absolute gem, and we can’t wait to go back again. Whether you’re hiking, picnicking, or splashing around the lake—this place is pure magic. Went there to see the furnaces and ended up enjoying so much more. From all of the buildings, stable, Ironmasters Mansion, General store, rental cabin and museum, we loved how well they were preserved. The park upkeep was very good. Roads were smooth, bathrooms clean.

Beautiful beach when it's not too crowded! Love the park and the Appalachian Trail Museum!

Nice place, clean, great staff. 2 nice lake. Nice general store for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Nice park. 1/2 Way point of the Appalachian Trail. Lots of hiking trails. The AT Museum has lots of history about the AT & a nice little gift shop. There is a general store with hiker provisions & other camp store type things. They serve burgers, fries & ice cream & an assortment of other things including breakfast. Then the history of the park's past as an iron smelting industry is also captivating. The ore pits are now beautiful lakes with swimming areas & boat rentals.

Visited the beach, walked around some of the old buildings (they were closed), and walked around Fuller Lake. Top tier scenery, clean facilities, and nice people.

Awesome State Park!!! PA has some of the best kept State Areas. It's always clean as are the bathrooms. Amazing spot for a quick day hike or even access to the Appalachian Trail. Pole Steeple is a great quick challenge if accessed from Laural Lake.

Two lakes, a great 3 mile paved trail perfect for a run or a short bike ride. Wonderful campground. Friendly staff. When my children were small we’d camp year round. Safe and quiet. Back then there were no modern facilities- a pit toilet. On of my favorite places in the world. There’s just something about it. Photos from the Steeple Pole Trail (an AT Blue Trail).

After many years of visiting, finally had a chance to stay in the campground. Sites were fairly big, all nicely wooded. Gravel pad. Some had market tent pads. The park has a variety of trails to hike from the very difficult steep hike up to the vista to flat paved shared trail. And on top of that there is even 2 lakes to swim, boat and fish! Could not ask for more.

I loved the area. It was very quiet and peaceful. I wish I had gone earlier in the year so I could have swam at the lakes there. The only disappointment I had was that you can only canoe at the smaller lake. If you can swim at Fuller Lake, it doesn't make sense that you can't paddle there.

This park had some good trails and seems like it would be fun in season. Unfortunately, we were there in the middle of the week in off season and things were really quiet, which was okay too. They need better directions to the campground when you arrive. The Furnace was neat.

Very educational area with lots to do. There are pavilions positioned throughout the state park. Plenty of places with set up a grill. Both lakes have beaches with swimming areas for the kids. Fishing opportunities and kayaking. The campground was great with clean facilities. I highly recommend the Appalachian Trail museum. It was a great visit.

I spent 2 nights at the campground while I was enjoying some hiking in the area. Beautiful park, nice shower house and clean bathrooms. My camp site was well maintained. I was greeted with Friendly campers. There is really no cell service. So if you are looking to get away for a few days. This is the place. The trail around the campground is such a nice relaxing walk. The campground sits just off the Appalachian trail, and the half way point half gallon challenge for thru- hikers.

This was beautiful. We didn't go on a full walk but I love that I like that. It is part of the Appalachian trail and I liked the museum and the general store just as a heads up to everyone. The general store only takes cash I Want to go there again and go on a longer walk.

Amazing park and facilities along the Appalachian Trail. Plenty of nice connecting trails and loops that take you up to some scenic views. Nice facilities and restrooms on site, but nothing once you hit the trail so be prepared.

I have been here many times. My husband and I recently went to the Fall Festival and it was lovely as always. It's only for two days out of the year so if you're free when they have it, I highly recommend you go! It's also a lovely place in the summer for hiking and in the spring. I have not been there in the winter but I'm sure it's beautiful as well. The state park tries to coordinate many different activities that are suitable for all ages.

Been to this park for the first time in a couple of years and it's still as lovely as we remember. There are two lakes--Laurel Lake and Fuller Lake. Fuller Lake is smaller with a lifeguard for most of the swimming season, while Laurel Lake is larger and swim at your own risk. We prefer Laurel Lake for how large it is, and for how close it is to clean restrooms and a concession stand. Various picnic tables (both regular and wheelchair friendly) scatter the wooded area around the [Laurel] lake, as well as charcoal grills! Stairs lead down to this lake but there's also a ramp that makes it easy to wheel down a wagon. This area is more wheelchair friendly as the sand is very flat. The trail leading up to Pole Steeple Vista isn't too terrible and the view is incredible. Bring some proper footwear to do so!

Tucked into the northern blue ridge mountains is a slice of heaven! Two beautiful lakes with sandy beaches that at this time of year are reminiscent of Monet paintings. You can even catch some sand art on the right day and skip stones! Lots of wildlife..including the Appalachian Trail hikers that you can cheer on! For a peaceful easy feeling spring to fall..this place has it all! Shout out to D-pole for showing me this central PA gem! ???????

Perfect place to relax and take your kids. Took our little peanut there last weekend. She just turned 22 months, about to go on 2 and she loved every minute of it...views, trees, water, sand, geese and every leaf and pinecone and twig on the ground ? It was off season so no swimming yet and it was completely empty which is welcoming at this time of year and when you are trying to inroduce your little one to a lake. Of course she did throw a gigantor tentrum because we wouldn't let her go swimming in freezing water. But then got over it once she discovered sitting in sand. It is absolutely beautiful there! Clean grounds, bathroom facilities on site, picnic areas and amazing views. I believe concession stand as well! Whether you are a hiker or just like chilling on the beach getting some rays, this place covers it all. They also rent out picnic areas for small events and parties. From what I understand you can fish trout! t A perfect place to teach your kids fishing etiquette. It does get buggy in that area once humidity rolls in during the summer, but that's just to be expected out of any place on water. The water does stay pretty cold as well throughout the swimming season, but honestly your kids won't care! They will stay in just like you did at their age until your lips went blue and you looked like a well aged prune. There is a dam near by but they put markers and lines to warn you plus lines and markers to show deep and shallow areas. Our three boys love going there as well! So if you are single, a couple or have a family the place is truly awesome and unique and will cater to the nature buff in you. And your dog(s) will thank you! It's a dog lovers paradise. Two lakes to enjoy, gorgeous hiking trails, unique historic places to see (the Furnace is amazing!), wonderful creek and views to go along with it. Seriously in awe of this beautiful park. A little "hidden" gem. I wish I had something like this growing up in DC!

It's a great state park. Beautiful creek, lake and shaded hiking/biking trails. There is a small beach(pets not allowed on the beach area) but there are plenty of other spots to hangout with your dog. There are public restrooms and a snack bar at this location. Many areas with picnic tables and grill to spend a day out with friends and family.

Peaceful place, I enjoy the bathrooms, locker rooms, snack hut and lifeguards on duty. There are plenty of picnic tables spread out for lunch and grills available. Great for a day or even a few hours. I didn't have much cell service but that's also what made it great.

It's only an hour away from us but it's a GREAT getaway for a quick weekend of camping. We love visiting here with our two Golden Retrievers. Nice layout of sites and they put a new dual fill area in as you enter the park for fresh water fill..

My 1st time here, Really nice. So so they half way point on the Appalachian trail that goes from Georgia to Maine and the home of the half gallon challenge, Where thru hikers of the trail celebrate the halfway point by eating a 1/2 gallon of ice cream At the general store.... It's a beautiful park and a great place to hike, and great overlooks...

One of the best state parks in Pennsylvania. The predominantly pine forest is unique in this part of the state. Great trails. The annual Hairy Hand around Halloween has been a family favorite. The Appalachian Trail runs through the park and recently the ATC opened a small museum devoted to the trail. The park is a great blend of nature and local history as a former location of an iron ore forge.
