Great trail, great skiing, fun scramble, easy access right off the highway. What's not to love?

Terrific horse trail ride with beautiful scenery. Living on the Little Deschutes river south of LaPine, Or., it was nice to be at the head waters of that river.

I went last month with a friend and we camped over night near the glacier. It was still snow covered in shady spots near the end of June, but extremely fun. We made it to chickens ledge but didn’t summit the last 80 ft. It’s possible but we opted out. Great experience! Bring misquito repellent!

Excellent hike. There is a daring bit for the true peak.

Really fun 12 mile hike with lots of good views and SO MANY MOSQUITOES

Really interesting mountain with some lovely hikes and fantastic views.

In the mid '80s friends and I hiked throughout Southern Oregon & Northern California visiting places like Ft Rock and the Lava Beds. But our greatest accomplishment by far was scaling Mt Thiesen. Personally, I did it four times.

Years ago we've visited this area and I hope to get back and enjoy it again

Pretty mountain from a distance, but mosquitos ate us alive before we could hike past the treeline. Pure torment. Turned around, ran for our lives.

I decided I would run up this mountain twice. I ended up putting on about 20 miles that day. It was such a beautiful mountain. The view is unreal and the mountain iconic. I would recommend this hike for anyone who has moderate to intermediate experience with hiking and climbing.

The campsite we booked was right on the shore of Diamond Lake with a view of Mt. Thielsen

This hike is rated as hard and not for the faint of heart. The trail thru the trees as you ascend are beautiful with views of Diamond Lake and peeks of Thielson. After the treeline, you begin your tough task of slowly traveling in scree and rock, then the boulder climb begins! Be careful at all times with your footing and if you dare to climb the last 60-80 feet to the 'lightening rod'... you are amazing! Always keep safety first and please pack it in and pack it out!

The skeeters were hungry, and the snow was deep, got vertigo a hundred yards from the peak did a little but sliding because it was so steep.

I visited near Mt. Thielsen in 1997 and was refreshing my memory of the relation of nearby Crater Lake.

Get on that thing before you get old.

The climb to this mountain top was amazing. You can come two different ways. 5.5 gradual uphill miles on the PCT or up Mt Thielsen trail 4ish miles at a more uphill clip. The last miles is straight uphill with the last 100ish feet being a true climb. Very exposed at the end. No water sources on either trail. You can see the water of Crater Lake from the top.

It is an amazing mountain !!! One of the many high peaks in Oregon !! Awesome hike !! Bring extra water.

Beautiful area with lots of wonderful hikes, trails and campgrounds.

Mt Thielsen is located near Diamond Lake, north side from Crater Lake NP.

Up here for unfortunate circumstances (wildland firefighter) but truly is an amazing place. And the people here are nothing short of amazing themselves. Will definitely be a place to visit when I'm not here for work
