What clients say about Copart - Portland North in Portland (OR)

Sleezy auto.salvage.company thats.huge. tried to get my membership.camceled.thw day it was renewed wouldn't cancel it after getting their $99. Do not give out your routing number to anyone especially copart. Now they have it and it will sit in their system. Huge mistake on my part for doing that with such a dicy company. It probably is on the dark web sold as salvage.

Shady business. They don’t allow you to start the vehicles cause they take the keys away. The only way to know if the vehicle is running, you gotta pay them to do an inspection. And there are no returns.
Try avoiding this locationJan 26, 2026 -
This location does not even deserve one star.
My experience at Copart North is completely different—and far worse—than at the Eugene, OR location, where staff are respectful, courteous, and actually treat you like a customer. Here, it’s the exact opposite.
The waiting time is excessive, and customer service has noticeably deteriorated. The staff attitude is hostile and unprofessional. Most of the day, they leave only one person attending customers, usually someone still in training, while the rest of the office staff sit behind their computers talking instead of helping.
There is obvious favoritism. They prioritize people they know personally or frequent transporters and speed up their paperwork, while everyone else is ignored and treated poorly. This is completely unacceptable and very unprofessional.
On top of that, many vehicles do not come with keys, which creates even more inconvenience, yet the fees they charge are extremely high and unjustified.
My buying experience was terrible: the vehicle delivered did not match the photos, had missing parts, and showed hidden damages that were never disclosed. They make up their own rules as they please, which makes this place feel dishonest and untrustworthy.
I will never return to this location, not under any circumstances. I will look for another auction to buy from. I honestly don’t even feel comfortable giving this place a single star. Do not recommend at all.Jan 13, 2026 -
They keep changing rules and make it extremely difficult to check cars in person.

Copart is the best place to get cheap cars and trucks that have been slightly damaged or completely demolished. The staff are always super helpful and load your vehicle safe and quickly. Highly recommend.
Dec 31, 2025 -
They only have 2 hrs every Wednesday to preview cars. Other locations are more flexible and allow pretty much every day. Also be aware of untrue car condition, it may say normal wear and tear and still have major engine or transmission problems or rusted underneath

Copart provides vehicle listings with disclosures that state whether a vehicle starts, runs, and moves under its own power. However, these disclosures are followed by disclaimers indicating that there is no guarantee the vehicle will start, run, or move at the time of purchase. This contradiction creates confusion for buyers.
In addition, Copart often does not provide vehicle keys, even when a vehicle is listed as starting and moving. Buyers are then required to purchase and program new keys at their own expense, which can result in significant additional costs. This raises the question: if a vehicle is represented as starting and moving, why are the keys not made available at the time of sale?
Copart also handles vehicles with forklifts, which can potentially cause further damage. The company states that it is not responsible for unloading vehicles from transport trucks, further shifting responsibility and risk to the buyer.
The overall impression is that Copart’s policies and practices are primarily designed to protect the company rather than support transparency or customer satisfaction. When customers raise concerns, there is a risk of membership termination instead of resolution, which can appear retaliatory and unprofessional.
Buyers should approach Copart transactions with caution and understand that additional costs and risks are likely, even when disclosures suggest otherwise. A clearer and more consistent policy regarding vehicle condition, key availability, and accountability would significantly improve customer trust and long-term business relationships.Sep 19, 2025 -
I’ve been doing business with Copart for 22 years, and they’ve consistently delivered. From day one, their auctions have been well-run, straightforward, and reliable. Over the years, I’ve seen the industry change, but Copart has always stayed a step ahead—making the process easier, faster, and more accessible. The staff has been professional and helpful every time, and their platform makes finding the right vehicles simple. After more than two decades, I can confidently say Copart has earned my trust and my continued business.

This place is wild. While waiting in line trying to get their online sign in site to work, I overhear the front desk talking about blowing her neighbor. Like loudly just talking to a coworker about her sex life while people are waiting to be helped. The front staff with black hair and large piercings in her cheeks was being beyond rude to a women in front of me that she wasn't even helping. Literally just being rude to be rude. That same women got rude with a dude asking about where he can get his car. It's simply wild that they are able to conduct business this way. I'm thankful mine was a quick in and out, or I probably would have been talk down to as well. Hopefully I don't have to come back in here.

just left this place for the second time because the first time I came the worker didn't do their job correctly. I came in and told the women that I needed to resign paperwork, she had no idea what I was talking about. After I signed the paperwork I asked my clerk if she's sure there wasn't anything else needed because I'd rather not have to come back again.. randomly out of no where a rather large version of Wednesday Adams with bolts in her face chimed in "we don't wanna see you either". First off you are not my clerk and I was not being rude. You had no right to respond to me like that. Overall this place is a tragic mess with children working the front desk, who would rather talk loudly about inappropriate topics instead of help clients. Garbage experience.

Untrustworthy company. If you buy a car from them and pay to have it shipped, they will keep your money and the car and charge you outrageous storage fees. Its literally a scam they routinely pull. Mean, nasty, greedy people. A drain on our society.

Purchased close to 40 vehicles
Never had so many issues with the lies on their listing. PURCHASED 2 VEHICLES RECENTLY, BOTH MAZDA 5.
BOTH VEHICLES WERE LISTED AS RUNS AND DRIVES WITH NO NOTES.
1 MAZDA 5 HAS A BAD TRANS WITH DASH LIGHTS ON AND IN THE PHOTOS THEY WERE NOT ON. I PREVIEWED BOTH VEHICLES PRIOR AND THEY WOULDNT GIVE ME KEYS.
THE 2ND ONE HAS A ROD KNOCKING.
AT THE VERY LEAST THEY SHOULD HAVE PUT MECHANICAL IN THE ADS. SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM RUN FAR
Runs and drives with mechanical issues they won't post now and when you preview they dont give keys.
They're screwing thousands of people over. Probably be best to completely avoid this auction. We had Two premium accounts and we canceled both. These people will lie to your face and tell you your burnt. They lie on there postings. They have a scanner and delete codes for pictures as well. SUCH A SCAM!! RUN!Jul 09, 2025 -
Drove over 30 minutes just to get my house and mailbox key from my car key chain since my insurance determined my car is totaled. I called before making the drive and they said I just need to come scan a QR code to mark my place in line. Waited over 20 minutes in my car like the sign says to do. I ended up going inside to try talk to someone and they’re not even going by the virtual line so that was a huge waste of time. Once I get to the front of the line, he tries to tell me there were no keys with my car key. Then goes speaking to the manager or whatever and I can just hear her saying “i don’t know” then he comes back with a story about how the keys are with someone that’s on lunch. That I can wait for them for 45 minutes or come back tomorrow. Dumbest experience ever.

Absolutely THE worse experience ever! I was selling a vehicle with them and they have terrible communication. Don't get back to you about whether or not vehicle was sold. Vehicle ran five times but they charged me for six times. Picking up vehicle was absolute nightmare. They had me go around and around, call several phone numbers and nobody knew what they were doing and what the process was getting my vehicle back. Ended up going to the office and wait for over two hours to get my vehicle.
Hispanic girl at the front desk treats people like absolute garbage. Very disrespectful and rude.
Point is - DO NOT use them to try and sell your vehicle. Total chaotic scam, an embarrassment not a legit company.Apr 18, 2025 -
Called ahead to make sure I did not need to bring a forklift for a trailer I purchased. Was told that they could load it no problem with their fork lift. Drive an hour to get there and they tell me “We are no allowed to load trailers. Not sure who told you that but it wasn’t us.” Absolute waste of time especially when I called to confirm I didn’t need to bring my own forklift.

Absolutely terrible service. I purchased a trailer and scheduled a pickup a week later. That day comes around and my baby was born. I called to see if I could reschedule and told them if not that I could have a friend come pick up the trailer. They told me they would wave the storage fee if I brought in proof of my child’s birth. Come in the next week and they won’t stand behind what they said and charge me storage fees. Do not ever buy from here. Terrible place that lies.

Buyer beware, this place is nothing but scammers. We bought a “run and drive” Murano, which by their description was green light and “moved forward under its own power.” We go to pick it up and it won’t even move forward or reverse. This is what COPART calls run and drive? I don’t believe it ever moved and will be suing for misrepresentation if I don’t get a refund.

Worse company I've ever dealt with! In my entire life I have never seen a more disorganized company than this. I've spent over 5 hours trying to get a car. 1st would let my bank card go through. #2 tell me to go get a cashiers check, so I get one then tell me they don't accept U.S bank cashiers checks. #3 set pickup time get a email saying my schedule pickup but didn't go through on thier end they claim. I show them the email they sent me!!!! Tell me they have to re schedule to 1:PM. #4 go to pickup car couple miles from my shop and they won't let me drive the car but no one told me that and have picked up tons of driveable cars in past. #5 now I have to reschedule with my driver to bring to truck but he has to reschedule.
This company doesn't have any organization.Mar 20, 2025 -
Horrifying customer treatment.
And the manager, fire that Karen immediately or this place will go to the ground.
She is full of hate and anger.
Absolutely no desire to help you, or even try.Feb 14, 2025 -
Staff is friendly.
Experience was poor.
I physically made 3 trips to their office related to a total loss insurance claim. Countless phone calls on top of that.
Each time I asked if they have everything the needed and each time I was told everything was completed.
The entire process started on September 5th. It is now September 19th, and I hope that everything is indeed in order. I was Originally told that the entire process would be complete in 2 days.Sep 19, 2024 -
Didn’t please a car well so I asked them to pull it off so I could get a battery charged 79 spoke to manager and said we have to charge

I did not appreciate how the company kept contacting me even after I told them I wanted to retain my vehicle. They wanted me to sign my title over to them so they could tow my vehicle away to an auction but I wanted to keep my vehicle and did. Copart even had the audacity to try to trick me to giving them power of attorney which I thought was disgusting. They tried to capitalize on my misfortune of being in an accident and the accident wasn't even my fault. The other driver was found at fault.

North Portland Co Part SUCKS
Drove 3hrs to pick up a vehicle we purchased just for them to tell us that the yard is closed. When Trav asked why he didn’t receive notification of that, she tells him “oh we don’t do that”
So now we make the 3hr trek back home pissed off & empty handed. They’re a joke. The GM & regional manager was the least amount of help as well.
Hundreds of dollars in diesel spent, plus the loss of a days wages to make the drive up here.
Do better CopartJan 19, 2024 -
Purchased a truck through copart the listed as clean title. When I got the title it was salvaged. The title was dated 3 months be for the sale date. They knew it was salvage title and listed as clean. The girls up front are slacking at their job. Also when I came to pickup the truck 2 days after the sale and gave them heads up I was coming the truck was not on site and was told to come back later. But was not to worried about charging a storage fee. Please step up!

I am a dealer here in Vancouver, coparts rep Tom reached out to me a month and half ago about running some trade-ins/ old units he made everything sound good. Took about eight units from me never heard from him for 2 weeks very hard to get a hold of. And now they’re holding my vehicles and asking me for fees when they weren’t disclosed or brought up to me he told me that there was no fees if we didn’t sell them, and I only had to pay money for shipping or towing…. now it’s taking me forever to reach a manager to get my cars back I don’t know if this is some type of scam are they going BK and holding units ? What is going on Dealers beware of Tom He is new and just trying to earn everybody’s business by taking your vehicles and then charging you fees get something on paper or even better don’t deal with them whatsoever

I drove 350 miles to the Portland location to pick up my vehicle today just to have to drive 350 miles back home empty handed. I got there at 4:13pm and was told that I needed to make an appointment to pick up my car and that they can't make anymore appointments after 4pm. I understand that this is the policy and I'm fine with following the policy. What I'm upset about is not being able to find any information about how to set up an appointment on the app or the website. The only useful thing I did find on the website was the operation hours. I'm not a dealer, I'm some poor sap that is buying a car at auction because I can't afford it otherwise, and now I'm out almost $300 I had to spend just to be denied pickup of my vehicle... and since I had already paid for it, it is mine. I also had to take the day off work to make the 12 hour round trip. I called customer service, they said there is some sort of link to click on for setting up a pickup appointment, but I looked after getting home and still can't find anything to click on. I was also told that there is a separate app available for scheduling pickup, which seems to be somewhat asinine that it's not just part of the regular Copart app. I feel taken advantage of.

Their line client makes you sit forever. It says 5min. Then switches to 30. Then back to 5. And so on. Basically their system lets premium customers cut forever, so good luck trying to pick up your car on time.
Edit: I came back a week later with over two hours of time and the same exact thing happened. When I first showed up my wait said 8 minutes. It’s now been over an hour and the wait is down to 7 minutes. I went inside to inquire what was happening, and was rudely told that I should have expected this if I didn’t come in monday-Wednesday. What is the point of being open if you can’t actually serve a customer.Dec 09, 2022 -
