Deschutes Recycling JunkYard in Bend (OR)

Two days before, I had loaded some wood debris (stumps, limbs, tree trunk cuttings) into my pickups bed, covered. Charged 6 bucks to unload. Saturday morning I had another load, same stuff. I came into the yard debris facility and they told me that it was closed due to a fire. So I asked where we are to take it? The guy said to take it to the other facility across from them. I went there, scaled, the lady said to follow the signs saying yard debris, so I did. It was pretty much next to the other spot where I unloaded earlier a couple of days ago. I went back across the scale and weighed. The lady said $35 !!! I was not happy. She said, we go with weights over here. I told her it was only yard debris and the guy across the yard said to bring it here. She didn’t seem to care. I can see paying $35 if it were house hold items. This is ridiculous!!! You people went out of your way to put yard debris signs out to follow, knowing people were coming. This load wasn’t going into your trash building. It was going in a pile of its own, that could be easily pushed a few feet by one of their many dozers in the yard. The local citizens here don’t know how much they’re going to get screwed, in my case 6 times the normal price amount !!!!! I am sorry to hear that they had a fire, but for you to take advantage of this is unconscionable!!! Update: Went again on Monday, this time you had placed a guy at the entrance directing the hundreds of people over to your facility. The guy shook his head after he spoke with the drivers in front of me. I asked why he was shaking his head, and he said that they were upset. No kidding! They knew that they were going to get screwed!!! You guys are taking advantage of this, making Big Money for really not having customers even using your indoor facility. It’s just a dirt landing to pile the yard debris that can be easily pushed a few feet with a huge dozer that already exists there. Your Crooks taking advantage of its local citizens! Sad

You’d think a dump wouldn’t be a place to find exceptional customer service, but these folks set the bar. Honestly. Staff is consistently friendly, helpful, attentive, and kind. I don’t know what they do to accomplish this level of service - hiring, training, etc - but they knock it out of the park.

Clean for a recycling center. I’ve experienced two people who work the counter there. A young man who has a great smile and answers questions without acting annoyed like most young people I’ve experienced, so Thank You for that! Then there is a nice lady who is always working hard and friendly as well. In this day and age it’s refreshingto see some people are still human!

This is well organized, always well staffed, directionally marked very clearly, staff is pleasant and helpful. Price is appropriate. Great place to buy microfiber for flowerbeds too. Not a bad experience at all......for going to da dump!😁

Bought a truck that had a lot of junk in the back, and while waiting in line to dump, the truck (diesel), ran out of fuel. They went above and beyond to tow me out to a clear spot, put fuel in the truck, give me a jump start (my batteries were shot), and make sure we got back in line and dumped. Fantastic service!!

After 30 years we are late with our payment from my husband 65 putting payment underneath some old mail accidentally and found it a week later and sent it out as soon as I found it. plus I called them they shut us off and charged us extra to turn it back on Honorable customer service no understanding about customer service what so ever.I would have said I understand since we are perfect Customers and have been so for 30 years

I dropped off an old wicker TV cabinet for an elderly lady. I thought it weighed maybe 50 lbs at most ( I'm 72 and could carry it with one hand with it resting on my shoulder) , whenI was weighed in and out they called it 80 lbs and charged $12 . No wonder people are dumping illegally.

If I could give zero stars I would. This place is a joke. The staff is beyond rude and lazy. Never helpful. The containers are always full and we then always have to pay to dump what we brought to recycle.????? Makes no sense. Wish they would do their jobs as I am here to do mine. What a waste of time and energy this place is. Word of advice, just pay to throw everything into the landfill cause these guys provide no service and would just assume you toss it in the landfill as well. 👎

Two of the gentlemen that work at the recycling center went above and beyond on Wednesday to help me retrieve something that I accidentally put in a recycle bin. I can't believe how much work they went to to help me out. The Best! THANK YOU GUYS.

Of all the numerous recycling centers I have used over the years and across the country, this is one of the best. Clean, neat efficient, helpful.

It was great and so convenient to wiegh in and way out and being open on sunday as well. Thanks Deschutes recycling.
