Extremely pleased with my visit to Ace Hardware. I usually give my business to Tractor Supply, even though it’s a little farther away because I am familiar with it. I was visiting the UPS store in AVON LAKE, Ohio and I saw the Ace Hardware store behind so I called from my car to see if they had Product that I wanted. And they did. Not only was I greeted warmly when I went in, but I was shown exactly where the product I wanted was, and the clerk actually carried one of the bundles of the two and I carried the other. Not used to that kind of service anymore as I am older, senior citizen, and this was service from when I was a boy and a young man which would’ve taken me back to the 60s and the early 70s. Kudos to Ace Hardware for hiring people like I experienced. And another thing the pressed sawdust fire bricks were half the price of Tractor Supply so I bought two for the price of one elsewhere.
Always very friendly and very helpful staff. Feel very comfortable going in there when I need something. We're definitely recommend and we will definitely return.
Guys there willing to help with any thing I needed. I asked for a sprayer for weeds and told me which isle it is in. The store is getting ready for winter. It is a great place to get what you need for repairs. Duct tape, plumbing, and so on. The guys there will help you out with what you need.
I went to the Avon Lake Ace Hardware to get a simple key cut it's for a 1980s vehicle I got it cut the first day the ignition key the cut was off a little because they use the machine and I don't think it was centered right the one for the door was completely fine and still works fine I went to the Ace Hardware in Avon Lake the next day to try to get my key cut again as soon as I walked in and asked for a key to be cut for my car the dude immediately snapped and said we do not cut car keys so I say okay you guys cut it yesterday you guys also have the key blanks over there to do it he said we just don't cut car keys so I said okay can I at least get a refund then they said sure and then some lady comes up and says yeah we can give you a refund but who was it who cut your car key I said I don't remember the dude he was an older gentleman and then she asked it again and I said I don't know can I just get my refund eventually the dude said fine I'll just give you your refund give it to me and then I said you cut the car keys why you not cutting a car keys for me and he said don't start with me so I took the money and left. Sad to say I don't think I'm going to be getting another key cut there again
I had an issue caused by an order from Ace Hardware online, but the staff at Ace Hardware Avon Lake were incredibly patient and helpful throughout the entire process. They listened carefully, understood the problem, and went above and beyond to remedy the situation. Their professionalism and willingness to assist made a frustrating experience much easier to handle. I truly appreciate their excellent customer service and would highly recommend this location for anyone needing hardware supplies with attentive and supportive staff.
Got a replacement shovel because my first one broke within a month. Now my replacement shovel is quickly on its way out even though I upgraded to a "heavy duty" one. Not very good quality tools.
Been going here for over 6 years and happily overlooked shortages in supply for service and "local". Sadly, I'm finally done with this place. Progressive decline in service, particularly with those working checkout. Purchased a defective propane that had a bent connection and hissed as soon as it hooked up. Luckily I heard it and returned it (still full) while also trying to purchase over $200 of hoses and sprinklers to update our outdated watering setup. They refused to credit me a measly $23 for the bad tank and wanted me to pay again. Radioed back to the manager, who wouldn't even come up front, simply said no you have to pay again. I walked out and bought the exact same stuff @ Home Depot (better brands) for $36 less paying for the tank and locking up my business going forward.
I ordered a grill in-store, and was told it would be in in about 5 days. Ten days later they called and said they were delivering it in about half an hour. When it was not here 3 1/2 hours later, I called to check on it. They very dismissively told me the driver was on the road. Another 3 1/2 hours later it still was not here so I called again and was told the paperwork was marked as "delivered." The manager and delivery driver were not in to ask about it. On top of all of that, they never credited the points to my Ace account despite my rewards number being on the receipt.
They better get me my grill, and do something to make this right.
I just left this ACE and I promise I will never be back! I brought my STIHL backpack leaf blower in to get repaired over 2 months ago. When I dropped it off the guy priced out a new air tube because mine was crushed and said the part was $160 or something but he didn’t know the labor or how much everything else would cost because that would be discovered when the technician took it apart and tested it so I said I wanted fixed and running and was told I would get a call next week to discuss what was wrong and how much it would be, 2 weeks and the call never came so I called and spoke with the technician who was very rude and aggressive and told me he hadn’t even looked at it yet and I had to wait my turn and he’ll get to it when he gets to it when I explained to him that someone assured me he would call me the following week so that’s what I was expecting which his reply was that the other employee shouldn’t have told me that. Then after over a month finally it’s fixed so today I go to pick it up and pay for it and after I do I pick it up to leave and to my surprise the original reason I brought it in, that crushed tube, wasn’t even fixed. When I say something to the young man helping me he asks the technician about it and I front of several employees and customers the technician again is very rude and aggressive and tells me it’s not his fault because no one told him and “screaming and yelling about it won’t get it fixed” when I didn’t even raise my voice in the slightest and this is how a customer is treated?? Completely unbelievable and unprofessional! It’s said because I live right around the corner from this location but now I will make sure to go out of my way to go elsewhere for any home improvement or garden need because of this, I have never been so disappointed and upset with a business more than I am today.
Update 1/17/23: Manager Tiffany called a few hours after I picked up the part and said they realized their mistake and apologized profusely for not double-checking the order before it was picked up. She not only personally dropped off the correct part at our home that evening, but gave us a $20 gift card as well and another profuse apology. Well done! Upgraded review from 1 to 4 stars.
Original review: Ordered Delta faucet cartridge for curbside pickup. Followed the pick up directions per the email. When I pulled up to the store and called them, I was left on hold for four minutes while they attempted to find my order that I had only placed three hours before that. Eventually, I simply went into the store, found out they were still trying to find it, although it was sitting in a bag right on the shelf with their other (few) pick up orders the entire time. Got home with the bag only to discover that there's nothing on this package that matches what I ordered. It was supposed to be the original Delta part, but it's an American Standard not compatible at all. I have been into the store a handful of other times over the years and never once have I ever felt like anyone in there actually wanted to help me find anything. Put up with it for expediency, living right in Avon Lake, but I think after today I am officially done. Well, after I return this part...
Somebody actually greeted me and asked if they could help me when I walked in the door. A completely different experience from home Depot or Lowe's, where I'll spend at least 15 minutes just trying to find the aisle that I need.
At Ace today, the sales associate instantly told me which aisle to go to. It took me about 6 seconds to walk there.
Once I arrived there, I met another gentleman who was also shopping for light bulbs. I showed him my old dead light bulb, and asked if he was able to identify how many watts this LED bulb was.
The guy wasn't even an employee, but he was really helpful! ?
I found the light bulb I needed for my kitchen, and some really cute Christmas lights for the rest of the house. I was in and out of there and under 10 minutes which would have been impossible at Home Depot or Lowe's. Just a really great experience. What shopping used to be like... I've Missed this.
I placed my order online and it was ready in 15 minutes. My items was ready at the door and Tim was very nice and helpful. The store was clean and neat. I'd stop by again.
Very understaffed, mostly teens working with little to no retail experience. let alone hardware or plumbing knowlege. The manager Amber presents herself as constaintly anoid with staff, and customers. The sad part is Ace used to have helpful staff, and managers, not anymore!!!
A top notch hardware store that has enough room to go beyond just the bare bones necessities without being disorientingly large like a Lowe's or Home Depot, etc.
From the moment I walked through the door I was greeted and asked if there was anything in particular I was looking for that they could help me find. Super friendly.
It seemed each department you pass has someone offering to assist you. All with a very approachable manner.
It seemed to have all of the bases covered and more as far as the contents of store and what you see on the shelves.

We went to this Ace Hardware because it was convenient being only down the street from our house and that we’ve never had a problem when we needed tools in the past. This time we needed to purchase mulch for my boyfriends mother and the woman at the check out counter, I think her name was Lisa, just seemed so bothered by the fact that we needed help. As someone who has previously worked for True Value and has family who currently works for True Value we now know that we’ll just take the extra time to go elsewhere if purchasing mulch is too much of a bother.
For those of you who seek an alternative to the modern day "hardware store", here you will find friendly sincere knowledgeable help. It's kind of refreshing to go someplace, and the staff knows who you are. Maybe, not by name, but by your face...and your hardware needs. It's small, so you rarely have to walk several miles inside the store, to find what you need. And parking is always available right near the store. Oh, and then there is this, they were the ONLY place that had what I needed to fix my gutters. HD and L did not.
I am a fan of Ace hardware chain stores. Have so many choices on items especially tools. This location is not an exception. Friendly staff. Beautiful layout. I feel like buying all the diverse tools if I had money to do so.
Great parking, knowledgeable and friendly staff, lots of unusual items from decorations, animal to household projects. Overheard them working with an older gentleman, so patient.... close to Giant Eagle, so great for multiple stop shopping!!
Love this hardware store. Staffers so helpful and nice. They even have pickles! And barbecue sauce! As well as the furnace filter that fits in my furnace, which is a very weird size and a lot of people don't carry it. I love Ace.
Great customer service everytime I stop in. The employees go above and beyond for you. Had an employee carry something to my car because I had a one year old in my arms, It was a tremendous help. I will continue to shop here and will recommend to all my friends and family.
I always receive the best service from everyone at Ace Hardware. The manager Robert made it a point to let me in just after closing to pickup some things I needed. They have great products at competitive prices.
