Usually they're awesome! But if youre going to say you are open untill 12 on Saturdays, than stay open untill 12! I pulled up at 11:40 and theyre shut down. Wont answer the phone, but i still see people working in the yard. I rented a trailer and got here before you closed. But couldnt offload. Not cool.
Pros: Service is first rate for a scrap yard. People are friendly and helpful. Layout is fairly easy to navigate. Even had someone to help me unload.
Cons: Payout is low. I normally go to Knechts in Bucyrus. I scrap used furnaces for a heating company. I normally get a full load of furnaces once and sometimes twice a month. So I'm good at estimating the price a load of furnaces brings. I put what I knew I would get 150$ to 160$ for at Knechts. Was hoping to try a new spot that paid more. Instead Innovative paid me 106$.
So overall the place has great people. It has great service. It has a great layout for navigating. But most scrappers like me are focused or getting a good payout as it is a lot of work getting a load. And unfortunately Innovative falls a little short on that criteria.
The guys who loading you are nice, but the broker doesn’t tell you how much you need the spend at pickup (at least 4 hours) and at the receiver is the same thing (4 hours at least).
It’s a dirty place and after you deliver you need to wash you’re truck and trailer. On top of that they do everything is possible to cut you’re rate for any reason. Just to know they pay detention after 3 hours 30$ an hour.
Returned aluminum cans. The two guys hardly said a word to me, just started dumping can into the hopper. Told me to pull up near the window. Didn't give me a weight, price, nothing. I received payment in a plastic bag with zero receipt, weight, nothing. I'll stick to getting rid of my recyclables in the local dump stations.
Oh, they're only open 8:30-4:30. Yeah, people have jobs.
Everyone was friendly in and out in no time. Definitely will take more stuff there.
I highly recommend to go there to haul all your scrap metal into. They don't buy cats. Though
I called in order to ask some questions regarding their service and capabilities as recommended by their website. The individual who answered was exceedingly rude and was barely able to answer my questions. After managing to get my core issue answered, the individual on the other end started insulting me before they even managed to hang up completely. I'm only giving them two stars because I haven't actually used their facilities, though this experience has certainly made that an unlikely outcome.
I took a 325 lb refrigerator to them, it had the weight on a tag right on the back of the unit. When I arrived, a young guy pushed it off my truck, it crashed down on the floor and on its way down cracking a tail light and scratching the bumper. I was told the scales were not working, so they estimated the weight, told me it weighed only 200lbs, I showed him the tag with the weight on it. He told me if I wasn't happy I could load it back on my truck, after it was setting on the floor. It never touched the scales. I took the $20 knowing I was being cheated. They never weighed it, never took any photo of me, never ask for an ID. This place needs shut down they are stealing from people and not following state laws.
Heather weighed some metal for my mother and I. She does not know how to do the job. Guess she needed a little extra in her personal pocket. Not good business.
