German Motor Works is the real deal. My 12-year-old Mini Cooper Convertible needed a new transmission at just 74,000 miles. Another shop quoted me $10,000, which was way too much for an older car.
Jon Behrns, the owner, found a reliable used transmission, transported my car nearly an hour, and completed the repair for 64% less. I was truly impressed by his honesty and work ethic.
Don't expect a fancy showroom—this is a no-frills, honest garage where the focus is on quality work and fair pricing. Finding an honest garage these days is a rarity, but Jon is exactly that. He also sells parts and specializes in BMWs and other European vehicles.

I want to begin by acknowledging and respecting the incredible efforts being made to help those affected by Hurricane Helene. The devastation has been profound, and your commitment to volunteering is commendable. However, I must address your recent response, as it is not reflective of the timeline or circumstances surrounding my experience with your business.
I initially reached out to you well before Hurricane Helene hit and discussed my car in person. At that time, I was assured I would receive a quote and a follow-up call. Despite my repeated attempts to contact your business in the weeks that followed—both by phone and in person—I received no response. This was weeks before the hurricane occurred.
While I understand that priorities shift during a crisis, the lack of communication predates the disaster and cannot be attributed to it. Furthermore, I find it unfair and inappropriate to state that "their needs outweigh many others," as it implies that your long-standing customers, who have supported your business for years, are not important. Such a statement comes across as passive-aggressive and dismissive, which is disappointing to hear from a business I’ve trusted.
Additionally, I take issue with your comment that "communications were not up to *my* standards." It is standard practice in any business to follow up with customers as promised. It has nothing to do with my personal standards. To insinuate otherwise shifts the focus away from accountability, and I do not appreciate that.
A simple acknowledgment, even to inform me that you could not assist, would have sufficed. MANY other local businesses, also impacted and volunteering, have managed to maintain communication with their customers during this time.
If your business has been unable to respond to any customers at all during this period, it may be worth considering temporarily closing operations to focus on relief efforts fully. However, in this case, the lapse in communication appears unrelated to the hurricane and points to a broader issue.

I called them about a BMW X5 they had in there lot about a year ago and they pointed me in the direction of a 740il they had as a parts car and said they drove it in and it ran perfect but the second I pulled it apart I realized all the timing chain guides were shattered the intake cam was snapped in half and 2 intake valves were bent and now Im out 600 on and engine they said was good and I had to scrap the car for 300 because when I called them they lied and said I told them I was gonna rebuild it and didn’t wanna give me my money for the lawn ornament they sold me. Soooooo🖕
They would not respond to texts or calls. I had to go by there to have any communication. They were supposed to diagnose and call with an estimate before doing any work. Instead sent a text a couple days later with my bill. They sold me a faulty part and my car came back with parts swapped out for cheaper ones. As a result my car is now going to cost thousands to fix the damage.
Not good at all! I took my car to them and they changed pulleys, bearings but still didn't fix the problem. Now their telling me it's the alternator. I'm done with you guys! Thanks for taking my $$$.
Jon is a great guy to work with. Purchased a full saddle brown interior from him and when we forgot to get the armrest, he shipped it to me on his dime which was more than he had to do. Genuinely appreciated doing business with him and would highly recommend!

Work was done as promised; more fair pricing than the BMW dealer. The place is hard to find, no signage on the building, hard to see the door where you park and enter. Willie was informative.
After taking my clk 350 to a different shop and getting stuck with a bill and still not fixing the issues. I found John threw many local sources telling me about his work and skill level. After talking with him for a few minutes. I could tell he knew what he was doing. Everything that I asked him about the car he knew what it was for and how it works. I was a bit scared to trust a nother mechanic but I feel I'm in good hands with John looking forward to having him take care of keeping my clk running great.
Stopped by to buy a wheel speed sensor and ended up hanging out for almost 2 hours soaking up knowledge. Came by on a different occasion to get a water pump after the one I ordered from another supplier turned out to be junk. John had what i needed in less than 24 hours at an outstanding price . These guys are legends.
After two failed attempts & a defective USED part I chalked up the $290.00 loss to some mechanics can fix a BMW but not a Jaguar. Getting the refund for the defective part was a nightmare. Thanks to the BBB it was resolved. My credit card information was given to PayPal which I wasnt informed a third party would be used also slowing down the process. Found a FANTASTIC shop in Indian Trail, NC. Now the car runs perfect!
2007 BMW 328i Sedan body repair
John the Owner and Roger his Tech were great to work with. The car was totalled in a side impact. GMW had everthing needed to get the car back to health. Very dedicated and detail oriented... and did an excellent job with what they were given.
