i went to this camp a year ago and it was the worst experience i have ever experienced, i was in bed and a counceler i think her name was jane procedded to make loud noises while running around the cabin during nighttime, this continued to happen for multiple nights after repeatedly being told to stop. It get worse. She started to climb into my bed and wanted to sleep next to me and i was very uncomfortable and started crying. I told the head councelor ans she told me i was being dramatic and lying. One day, I was going in the lake and this girl went under me and bit my ankles leaving me bruises and said she was a snapping turtle. This really traumatized my mental health. I tried to talk to thr councelor again and they got mad and sent me to the thinking cabin where i verbally abused. They told me i was worthless and useless, and wasnt wanted at the camp. While i was sleeping i saw roaches spiders and vermin in the cabin. I woke up with plenty of rashes and bites on my legs arms and chest. Overall the worst camp and experience ever
This is my 5th year at camp. Camp is my happy place.at camp I feel free.all of my fellow cabin mates have never failed to make me happy.same with the counselors the staff is always a 10/10 service. every year I go home crying abt how I wanna go back to camp ?️! I always know I will have a great time at camp. Oh and btw the food is AMAZING I love it so much. Can’t wait to go back and see all my friends and have the time of my life
Our nine-year-old just finished her first week at starter camp and said it was the most incredible experience of her life. She came home and didn’t complain about chores and I feel has grown a lot as a leader after only one week. Communication with the camp was great. She had a fantastic time. Can’t wait till next year.
I went here for 2 summers when I was 10 and 11 in the 1980’s. Bad experience. It’s too big and too many campers, that I felt like a number. Actually I was a number. 101. Still remember that to this day. There was little tradition it seemed. Too big for a shy kid. Felt like the kids were not nice, either. And the counselors did not leave a strong impression on me. I found sailing to be boring and the terrain is flat with no mountains. Not very picturesque. I ended up going to a girls in Brevard NC for 9 summers and then knew that Seafarer was no where near the summer camp experience in comparison. I know Seafarer a popular camp but it wasn’t for me.
It keeps me waiting until next year! I love going to camp every summer. It is like a creative outlet you don’t have to be scared to show yourself. You can be you! I love seeing all my friends from previous years when I go to camp. Camp to me is like one BIG family including Seagull to.The admin and staff make camp camp. And I can’t wait to go these next
summers I can go!
This was my son's first year. He stayed for 2 weeks. I've been around eastern North Carolina my entire life. I've heard of Camp Seafarer as well as the others in the area. But I had no idea about its storied tradition. At the gathering before his first day, my son's mother and I met parents from all over the country. The next day, as we arrived, the energy of the staff was absolutely contagious. We got Cam settled, then toured the camp. I met counselors and staff from other countries. Without exception, all the young men I met had been coming EVERY YEAR since they were about 8 years old. That speaks volumes. They were personable, professional, and exuded genuine enthusiasm. I don't know where these young men are headed, but I know they've got a heck of a good foundation and good character.
As we drove back home, his mother and I agreed that our son was in very good hands. Fast forward 2 weeks. Cam had a blast. So much so that he began practicing for the next swim band the same day we got home. I'm not a betting man but I'm sure he'll be chomping at the bit to go back next year.
I went to this camp the summer before 7th grade. I had major anxiety but i didn’t have medicine for it at this time. I went to this camp with my sister and two of our friends that are twins. I was super against going to this camp at first but i only went to be with my friends, because my sister snd i moved and had not seen them in a while. I was 11 years old and the first night i cried so much. My camp counselors did not seem to care at all. Eventually i talked to the counselor of camp 3, she helped a little but i was still crying for three weeks. This camp had no air conditioning, and no one was aloud to go in there cabin without a counselor. I know that the main reason i didn’t like this camp was because of my own issues, but this camp did nothing for the people struggling.
My daughter spent her summer here and she loved it. She came back home having made friends, new experiences, less shy and even more mature..lol. More importantly, she had a month to connect with nature, play, enjoy, swim, sail, and disconnect from gadgets/social media. She had REAL LIFE experiences. Did I mention more responsible? Yes! I don't have to keep singing to her to clean her room or do homework. Thank you, Camp Seafarer!! I can not be more greaful!!
Our daughter has attended Seafarer for the last three summers. She always has a great time. She loves her Counselors and all of her Cabinmates. She has made many wonderful new friends. The rankings are great motivation for the girls to put themselves out to the full experience and everything that they have to offer. We just picked her up from the second session and she can't wait to come back again next year!
I love it here even though I go every year I will never stop coming this place makes me feel at home and its like I have a HUMONGOUS family and yeah just loved it???
It was a very fun experience! There are ziplines, slides, and very fun activities and very fun and nice workers. The only reason this is a 4 star is because there was not much food. They ran out of chicken for the tacos, but other than the food it was great.
This was and has always been my wife’s happy place, she went to Camp Seafarer and was later a counselor. Some of her best friends today she met at Seafarer. We have two daughters and Seafarer is now their happy place. They know many months in advance exactly how many days til camp. This camp and staff are amazing. 5 Stars x 2.
Greatest 5 summers of my life. Wish I had gone for longer. I cannot wait to send my son to Sea Gull when he is old enough. My greatest qualities are because I went to Seafarer!
My child went to this came for three years and every time she would come home complaining that people were bullying her and the camp did nothing to help. I don’t recommend wasting your money on this dump.
So much fun! I go there, and I love how you earn ranks. Great way to fill up a portion of your summer, whether you want to go for 1,2, or 4 weeks, it's great fun.
I went to camp when I was 12, 13 and 14. LOVED every minute of it. Now my daughter is headed for her 4th summer at Seafarer. Sailing, swimming, tennis, basketball, skiing, fishing, etc. etc., for a month each summer. It doesn't get any better! The counselors are wonderful and ultra supportive. Best in class!
I look forward to camp every year. They have delicious food, supportive counselors, great sailing programs, and its SO easy to make friends!!! I highly recommend it for girls 7 and up. They also have a One week starter camp.
This camp is a great camp for young active girls. The food is amasing. And if you are scared of not having friends i made friend the first day. there are all sort of fun activitys to do. I highly recomend it for girls of all ages.
Every summer since six i have gone to camp seafarer every summer it gets better and better. Instead of getting homesick at camp i get camp sick at home. The counselors are amazing i highly recommend this camp for fun loving girls!
