If I could give them more than 5 stars, I would. I called them to see if they could send a mechanic out to inspect a truck I'm considering buying. Doug was very through and did an amazing job.
He identified several issues with the vehicle and gave suggestions to have the dealership address. He was incredibly helpful and informative.

Doug stopped his lunch break to give me some great advice. Took time out of his personal time to save me some money on a tire issue I was having. This is the kind of service you will not get from a large chain. Really makes me appreciate my local shop right here down the road from me.
Doug and his team are fantastic. I had a terrible experience with a company my lending agent had suggested me to get, which caused massive delays and bad communication for most of the day, but when Doug showed up to assist me it made it all excusable.

If I could give more stars I would. This man goes above and beyond to help. I was stranded in North Carolina with a broke down jeep. I was fortunate enough to find a ride to my next location but had to leave my jeep behind. He not only went and picked it up but looked it over for months until I could make it back and pick it up. He didn’t charge me an arm and a leg and was way more than far. I highly recommend this company! All the way from Tennessee I would gladly drive to have any vehicle concerns seen by him again. Thank you again for being a miracle to someone who really needed it
I have used this business for towing and car repairs. The owner is straight forward, provides great service, and stands by his work. This is my personal choice for automotive service. Highly recommended!
I took my vehicle in for an a/c repair. It was diagnosed and repaired in a timely manner. The repair cost was reasonable and if I have any other problems I will definitely be back. I would recommend this place to anyone that doesn't want to be taken advantage of.
Our car went out on us and Doug helped us out in roughly 30 minutes! He was amazing to work with and very knowledgeable. He replaced our alternator while also teaching us a few tips and tricks. He just gained us as customers for however long we’re here! They also have a play area for kids, very considerate! Thank you, Doug!

Doug is a man of his word. Very diligent in his work and keeps you up to date. Works with you in the best way he can to make sure you’re happy with your service. Will be coming back. It’s hard to trust mechanics out here let alone get a quality warranty. Stonecold Automotive is the place to go. Fast service too.
The last place I went to messed my vehicle up bad. Doug went above and beyond to get my car driving back right and documented the entire process!
When my car broke down on the road due to a ball joint being put on wrong from the last mechanic, Doug was in his tow truck not far away and witness the accident and was able to help me get a tow. He was able to diagnose what happened to my vehicle with what caused the accident to happen on the spot. After that he helped me get a tow and a few days later would tow my vehicle to another shop but when he explained the work that needed to be done and the timeframe I decided to go with him.
Very satisfied with my service and will be back to get regular maintenance done as I’ve found my go to mechanic.

AC went. Was new to NC. Went to several AC shops. Doug was the best and is honest. Did not suggestive sell. We Trust him and his work. Rare for a mechanic. Keep small businesses in Jacksonville up and running.
My Husband had brake pads and rotors put on our Toyota Tundra and the mechanic did a great job! Very knowledgeable and also gave other recommendations for future repairs. We are just relocating here from Alabama so let’s just say we have found a great mechanic to give our business to!
I've lived in several states and have done business with many automotive shops. This shop is by far the best and its not even close. Doug is truly an expert at his craft, yet he explains things with a humble demeanor ensuring you have a full understanding. His prices are fair and unlike many shops he'll explain what options you have.
For any military folks in the area this business is a no brainer. You'll be treated with respect and feel confident with the work.

Doug had my van for five weeks. What he originally said would be around 10 days turned into 36. Yes, THIRTY-SIX days. Not only did the repair take way longer than expected, but communication throughout the process was almost nonexistent. I would call Doug, he would give me a 3 day estimate (or something of the like), and then I would call him again 5 days later when he had blown through the most recent 3 day estimate. This happened SEVERAL times. His communication did pick up towards the end of the 5 weeks, but it seems inexcusable to go many days without updating your customers, especially after missing a timeline that you set!
The real nail in the coffin for me is the gash in my interior leather on my driver side door. When I pointed it out to my husband, he said to let it go because he didn’t really want to deal with Doug anymore.
If you have weeks to spare, Doug does good work. I will give him credit where credit is due. But if you are hoping for a fast turnaround and up to date communication, this is not the shop for you.
Review based on work done late November 2023. Doug knows his stuff. Explains the issues and what he's going to do related to the repair. Definately will return for popup repairs as well as routine/schduled maintenance for my F-250, along with wife and daughter's vehicles.
I thought my head gasket blew so I got a quote from this fantastic auto shop. Turns out when they checked it was only coolants lines that I couldn’t reach and only charged me for what needed to be replaced they saved be 2000 dollars, will definitely be going back again soon! Plus the pricing and amount of time it took was amazing didn’t over charge like most auto shops near Jacksonville will do and worked on my car in a timely manner!
Doug worked diligently to get my van back on the road after the timing belt tensioner went bad. I was on vacation from central Iowa and needed the repairs done asap. Due to unforseen issues, he was as honest as he could be in the time frames we discussed. He worked extra hours and was able to get me back on the road in 2 weeks. The road home the van preformed flawlessly.
Doug is a man of integrity and truly honest person!!! I drove from Massachusetts to Jacksonville to our son and his wife last Saturday started having engine troubles by the time we got here. He had us drop our van at his shop and he pinpointed the problem very quickly. He explained exactly the cause as well as gave us a very reasonable price for the work did!!!

I decided to give this place a try one day after I couldn’t get ahold of a mechanic to work on my expedition and let me tell you, I’m glad I did.
Great family friendly atmosphere and the staff is just downright warm and inviting.
Doug took a look at my vehicle and brought me back to show me what was wrong and explained what was going on and even pointed out issues that I had pending and gave me a heads up on other critical things I wanted to lookout for that I didn’t even know or pay attention to.
They got my baby all fixed up and kept in contact with me the whole time to give me updates. His parts and services are warranteed, provided follow up calls even spoke with the wife to ensure that safety is their #1 priority so that she could rest assured that the family would be driving in safe conditions and the prices are BEYOND reasonable.
I highly recommend this small jewel in Onslow county truly the last of a dying breed of automotive mechanics that actually work with, knows what they’re doing and best yet cares about the safety of their customers. Straight up all American family owned moral values and good old fashioned honesty and know how, they’ve gained a customer for life. Amazing to say the least. Douglas has gone over and beyond to make sure our vehicle gets back running! Very fair pricing for towing and diagnostic! He reported the news of our engine needing to be replaced and went out of his way to
Contact customer service about a recall! We are still in the process of getting it fixed but he has checked on us multiple times to make sure he’s done what he can.

Doug really helped me out on short notice after I snapped the top of my dipstick off! He was able to get the bottom portion out in 10 min and replaced it with a new one from the dealership (getting a new part from the dealership took the most time). I sure appreciate his knowledge and expertise!
Drove from Northern Virginia to get my vehicle diagnosed, found the shop through a family member... drove for about five hours and well worth it. The mechanic is super thorough... looked over the vehicle, inch by inch... found issues with the vehicle that other mechanics had missed. Flexible payment plans help. Will be referring other clients to shop. Ample space for parking. Great customer service...
Doug is the only person I allowed to fix my vehicles he's honest he is great priced and he gets the job done in a timely manner. I've been to a lot of mechanics at or just all about making money and Doug told you what the problem is and how to fix it and he gets the job done every time the right way
Over 8years ago my power steering pump went out and they came to me looked at the problem. Drove it from my work to the shop fixed it and brought it back to me by the end of my shift. I was so convenient and the pricing was fair. I have continued to only have stonecold work on my car since. Amazing service and no run around just straight to the point this is what you need.
Stonecold Automotive is very professional and very honest. In a three month period I had to repair my car twice and I went back to Doug without hesitation. Outstanding service, customer service, professionalism and good price. I would not take my car anywhere else. I will miss it when one day I will transfer to another State.
