If I could rate the a zero I would. I dropped my 95 ranger off and just asked for a diagnostic test. I had recently changed my plugs,wires and coil pack and thought I may have gotten a couple wires wrong. When I made appointment I told them just lthe diagnostic test and then call me. I physically saw it only take about 20 min so I went right in and said what do I owe you and the guy at the counter said it would be after 1 before he would have the paper work together. So by 3 I called back and he oh yeah your ready to go. When I got there expecting the $90 diagnostic fee he stated it was in fact the plug wires crossed and they fixed it. $219.14 , 1.5 hours labor! Really what a rip off. Guess they thought they could get one over on me because I'm a female! It was 2 wires crossed on a 6 cylinder... I will not be back and unless you have money to burn, you would trust them with your vehicle. Image 2 plug wires they claimed took an hour and half. What would a real mechanical problem cost in labor!

If I could give them zero stars I would. The most unprofessional and uninformed auto place I’ve ever been to and I’ve been to some sketchy places. Paid over 1k earlier this year on a bunch of stuff that I didn’t need done at the time, could’ve waited. Then I go to get my oil change done somewhere else because they were horrible the first time and they apparently tightened my drain cap too tight. The place spent 15 minutes trying to get it off. Tells me to come and when I get here straight lies to my face and says “well going over mileage for the recommended oil change can cause it to tighten. The heat can cause it to tighten” and thinking I won’t google it I did and he’s a liar. Now I’m sitting waiting for them to “try” to get the cap off when I was gonna be done in 15 minutes at the other place and they don’t wanna claim responsibility for what they did. DO NOT EVER COME HERE if you want true honest good work.

Called and asked to have a new muffler installed, they told me they could do it. When I arrived to drop off my vehicle they told me they don’t do exhaust repairs.

I recently moved here from Columbia, SC and had a situation with my car. I heard great things about this place, but having had terrible experiences with previous mechanics and experience in the service industry, I was a bit of a skeptic. However, I dropped my car off on Monday morning, received a quote by Monday afternoon, and a phone call to come pick up the car Tuesday. And it's actually fixed! Everyone here is super friendly and honest. Will definitely come back if/when I need to and will recommend this place to everyone I know!

Great service! Valerie and the team were amazing! We just relocated here and our vehicle was acting up. They were able to get us scheduled quickly and took the time to answer my questions and concerns regarding the repairs. Highly recommend for dependable, straightforward, and affordable service.

My little 73 year old mother brought her car to you today. She was so worried it was going to cost her a fortune. She called me tickled pink because you guys were honest, fairly priced and got her fixed up within 2 hours today. You can't know all she's endured including losing her home to the flooding there 4 weeks ago. She was super stressed about her car too. To say thank you is so inadequate. I will be letting every friend and relative in our area know about you guys. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Stopped in to talk to the owner about my 1988 Ford F150. I had problems with my new starter having intermittent non-engagement issues with the flex plate. A 2nd replacement new starter had the same issue. He suggested trying a rebuilt starter and staying away from the marketed “new” starters. Sure enough the rebuilt starter worked like a charm. He was right on the money. New isn’t always better and the rebuilt units are based off the original tooling. Thanks for the advice.

In have to say, Mr. TRANTHAM, although was not able to fix the second portion of my car issue. Which was costly, I know everything is now, is it still just as pain to hand that over. I was still having car issues that seemed somewhat the same. Two months later, I am not a complaine, not to mention avoid conflict I sis do it, he was nice and made sure I understood the issue it was having then the current. We discussed the issues again once he check my car and drove it so well. And confirmed what he believed the issue was! Mr TRANTHAM. Was honest, I do believe. There is a lot to say about a person when they take to opportunity to encourage you to pause and weigh the cost on top of the current cost. You could put a good down payment on another vehicle! When he could have pocketed my money! Charter isn’t a common term much anymore. I honor that these days. Thank you for being decent to my pocket and my family! My hat goes off to you sir!

I am posting under my maiden name because this was another instance of GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM DOMESTIC AUTO! Once again I have to highly recommend Domestic Auto in Clyde. The owner, Alan Trantham, is the most honest and tenacious mechanic I've ever seen. My car had a major safety issue going on. I would be midway going up a hill and it would go into neutral even though I was driving and it would say "Hill Assist Malfunction". I literally rolled backwards down a hill into traffic. Thank God I was able to get to the middle lane as I rolled. It turns out that there was a spacer missing under one of the sensors in my car. We're not sure when it went missing. But every time the car would go into gear a metal piece from the transmission would barely touch the sensor and it would basically deprogram the sensor because it is magnetic. Alan figured out that something had touched that sensor when it shouldn't have. He fabricated his own spacer and it worked so he went to the dealership and got the correct one for the car and replaced his fabricated one. That little metal part that looks like the tab on the top of a Dr. Pepper can caused me such problems and such headaches but it is FIXED now. Alan drove it around and made sure it was completely safe before giving it back to us. My daughter drives that car and has had zero problems. I just wanted to recommend Domestic Auto once again because I've never seen a mechanic more dedicated to taking care of his customers. Thank you to Alan, his son for the willingness to test drive it even when it was RISKY and to his wife for the always friendly customer service at checkout. Y'all have a customer for life! ❤️

If I could give Domestic Auto 10 stars I would. Alan Trantham at Domestic Auto is by far the most honest and best mechanic I have ever dealt with in my entire life. I had a transmission issue with my car that was a result of a faulty part installed by a dealership. He dealt with the dealership and got the problem taken care of as well as fixed issues that they had neglected to fix. My car was a very complicated matter but he stuck with it and made sure it was 100% before we got it back on the road. I can not express how grateful I am that he was the mechanic that worked on my car. He definitely has a customer for life.

From the area, but living out of town for some years now, I needed someone to help in fixing my mother’s auto ac system local to her. Alan was able to get her in and got it took care of. I really appreciate your help in the matter!

I recently had to take my car to get checked out and I was thinking that the issue going on with my vehicle was one thing when it was another. I would say that this team took very good care of me. They could have allowed me to think that it was in fact what I had suggested but, they checked the vehicle and provided me with thorough and honest answers. My issues were not as big as I assumed. This team fixed my car in an timely manner, had great customer service, went over things with me and most of all, they were very reasonable. Not once did I feel pressured, not once did I feel like I had to question the work or anything. I will definitely be having my vehicle maintained by this repair shop again. Thank you all for the excellent work that you did.

Very straight forward honest people Had a Diesel Sprinter unit go down and had it towed in after several recommendations of Domestic Auto. I'm Blessed I did. Work preformed was spot on and parts were actual dealer parts as required for fitment purposes. Communication was spot on as well and appreciated, because had they not communicated great; they would have replaced a part that was under warranty at dealership. Keep up the Awesome Work. Unfortunately, wasn't able to get unit back rolling after addressing other underlaying issues, BUT at NO FAULT or inability of there's because as stated the unit had to go back to dealership for warranty work. I will continue to support this honest establishment which has become a rarity with most Diesel mechanic/ mechanics.

As a 100% Disabled Veteran I would like to sincerely thank Domestic Towing and especially Allen the driver, for rescuing my wife and I from a roadside breakdown in our 30’ Class C RV. We had been waiting for 8 hours for another company and finally called for Domestic who said “We will be right there” and showed up in less then 45 minutes, not only with a fantastic tow truck, but Dave, the Best Driver/Operator you could possibly ask for. Thanks Again, Domestic!!!

I'm a small local business and non-profit that runs a re-entry program. I had a truck roll down a small hill and it needed to be towed out. They charged me 3k dollars and threatened to keep my truck if I didn't pay the outrageous bill. The truck wasn't damaged and it took one hour to tow it out. This guy could have helped my non-profit but instead he put me in a major financial bind. Do not call this guy if you ever need a tow.

Excellent customer service! Do great work in a very timely manor! The only place Ill take my truck if I cant do it myself! They are an Amsoil dealer which is why I get my oil changed there to save me the trouble!! Great price on that service too! Def check em out!

BEWARE They towed my car. I said "it might be the battery" but them hearing that was all they needed. Charged me $277 for a new battery for a 2000 FORD FOCUS and called it a day. It wasn't the battery, it was the alternator. Did they even bother to look? NO!! Waste of my time and energy and I've been angry about it for too long! They take the easy way out. EDIT They also tried to make a snide comment regarding my review saying I had a "LAWN MOWER BATTERY in my car. Wrong. They were literally upset that I didn't return their phone calls the whole day about my review!

If there was a 4.5 stars option I'd pick that. Our van broke down as we passed through the area and they were the towing company called to help out. Friendly folks who really helped us get through the situation smoothly even after we had left the area. My only complaint would be the lack of communication on the status of the part being ordered and received- as it was a 4.5 hour trip to retrieve the van. I had to call them each day to check status as to whether the van was ready for pick up. Otherwise, everyone was kind and friendly. Recommend!

Alignment I got here is great. The oil change is a different story. The oil filter was put back on SO tight that in attempts to remove it the filter was crushed & shredded. A filter should be hand tight/hand snug, not put on so tightly only the Hulk could remove it. See photo for what an oil change from this place looks like. Be kind, y'all.

My car works after they fixed it. Hoeever when I found out the factory alternator was less expensive then the slternator he was using, , he had already started on the car and couldn't change it. Then I was not kept informed and when I picked the car up the bill was 262.00 more than was quoted me because he said the alternator had blown the battery so I needed a new battery + there were other extra charges on top of that That I didn't understand.

If I could give a zero star rating, I would. The best part of this experience was the tow to get there. (Thank you, Hatton's Towing & Recovery)... I understand you claimed you were short on help, but if you had no intention of attempting to repair my vehicle, or ever calling me with updates, you could have let me know from the start. I was stranded there, 4 hours away from my home, wondering why my van struggled to get up that mountain, and my vehicle sat, without ever being moved, from Sunday afternoon until I had it towed elsewhere on Thursday. For what I spent on rental car and accommodations I could have had it towed the 259 miles home. Instead, I trusted you to help me figure out the problem and get back on the road. While I was checking out and getting my keys, my daughter observed a local person drive up and a tech come look at their vehicle immediately. She was seething because she knew that my vehicle sat, without ever being looked at or issued a "number" for over 4 days. I'm so glad I had it moved to another location and am finally home. I guess I can say I'll give you one star for being kind enough to "kill the ticket" and not charge me for the 1/2 hour of "diagnostics" you supposedly did at some point between Monday and Thursday.

I have a 2004 Honda Pilot with 300k miles on it. My car broke down 20 mins down the road the day before Thanksgiving. I through a belt and called then first thing Friday morning and took them the key. They towed the car to the shop and fixed the belt and had me back on the road by 4pm the same day. Customer service was awesome and the price was just right. Can't thank these guys enough. If you have issues they will take care of you.

They took my truck to a dealership on a rollback. Wonderful Service! And the price was great as well! Will definitely use them again next time I need towed

Our truck broke down because we put the wrong gas in the tank. These folks towed our truck and fixed the truck and stowed our truck for a few weeks till we could come get it. All for a very reasonable cost. I would recommend these folks any day

IMPECCABLE SERVICE & HONESTLY!! Mr. Alen and his crew were lifesavers for me and my business. They pulled me and my semi truck out of a very dangerous situation up there in the NC mountains. I CAN'T THANK THEM ALL ENOUGH!!! They all were nothing but professional, patient, and had genuine concern for me and my truck. I would call them for anything if I lived around the area. Very reasonable and fair. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for semi truck recovery/towing needs. They will take GREAT care of you. God bless them all for what they do.

Great local place to have repairs done on your vehicles! Honest. They don't sell you what you don't need. Best looking tow trucks in three counties!
